1 PRODUCT DATA VIBRATHANE 8080 TDI-terminated polyester based prepolymer Urethane Prepolymers VIBRATHANE 8080 VIBRATHANE 8080 is a TDI-terminated polyester based prepolymer which yields an 80 Shore A hardness urethane when cured with 4,4' methylene-bis (orthochloroaniline), commonly called MBCA. VIBRATHANE 8080 elastomers are characterized by: Hygiene High tensile and tear strength Outstanding abrasion resistance Excellent heat, fuel, and solvent resistance Good low temperature and dynamic properties Vibrathane 8080 contains a small quantity of free toluene diisocyanate (TDI) which causes severe irritation to the eyes, skin, mucous membranes, and respiratory system. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing, and wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid breathing vapor. Use only with adequate ventilation. In the USA, employee exposure to TDI is regulated by OSHA. Other materials that may be used with VIBRATHANE 8080 in the manufacture of finished products may present hazards in handling and use. Before proceeding with any compounding or processing work, consult and follow label directions and handling precautions from suppliers of all ingredients..

4 LOW DUROMETER FORMULATIONS WITH VIBRATHANE 8080 Low Durometer Formulations with Vibrathane 8080 Low hardness (58-75 Shore A) urethanes having good physical properties can be obtained by curing Vibrathane 8080 with Curene 3005 (Anderson Development Company) or with blends of MBCA and triol (Isonol-93 Dow U.S.A.). In order to obtain durometers in the Shore A range, plasticizer must be used. Typical properties are shown below. 6 EFFECT OF CATALYST Effect of Catalyst on VIBRATHANE 8080/MBCA Cures Catalysts (oleic, azelaic or adipic acid) can be used to accelerate the reaction between VIBRATHANE 8080 and MBCA. The table which follows illustrates the effect of oleic acid*** on the pot life and demold times of VIBRATHANE 80180/MBCA cures.
