These machines will work alongside his existing fleet to carry out groundworks in the local area. Meakin Fencing was established in 1987 and have over 25 years of experience as fencing contractors, groundworks contractors and stone walling contractors. 3 MANN 40 YEARS WITH JCB Mann Plant Hire has bought JCB since the launch of the company in 1977, starting with just one JCB 3C MK2, and has continued its business with JCB since then. Richard and Jane Mann launched their plant hire and contracting business, Mann Plant Hire, based in Falmouth, Cornwall, over 40 years ago. Since then, the business has grown significantly and in 2004 their son joined the family business to help launch the training arm of the company, Lamanva Training Centre. The centre offers a high standard of plant training, testing and NVQs for the construction industry. Lamanva Training Centre now works in conjunction with Mann Plant Hire and is accredited by CITB, CPCS and City and Guilds. It has six full-time employees, who provide training and testing in the use of a variety of machines, including mini-diggers, swing-shovels (excavators), rollers, wheel diggers, telehandlers and dumpers. The training centre specialises in training and testing employed, selfemployed and unemployed candidates, from beginners to experienced operators, guiding them through the process to gain their CPCS Red Trained Operator card. Training takes place at one of Lamanva s test sites, using up-to-date facilities and equipment and the latest JCB plant machinery. The candidates are the assessed on site to gain their NVQ qualification and achieve the CPCS Blue Competent Operator. Since shifting the focus of the business to training, machinery demands have changed. Mann Plant Hire and Lamanva Training Centre place a high importance on using up-to-date machinery, replacing at least two machiners every year with new ones to ensure trainees are using the best equipment, Using new machines also has the added benefit of there being no nasty suprises regarding functionality, and confirms the company s dedicated to quality and high standards. By using a range of the Hire Purchase products available from JCB Finance, the training centre has been able to spread the cost of maintaining an up-to-date fleet and develop its plans for growth.

BLAST FROM THE PAST HOLT JCB HAS UNEARTHED THIS FANTASTIC BLAST FROM THE PAST WITH THE SEPTEMBER 1988 ISSUE OF HOLT NEWS Holt JCB has been producing newsletters for many years for our customers. This historic issue from 1988 features the new machines launched that year including the 712 Dump Truck, 406 Articulated Wheeled Loader and the new JCB 3CX. Holt JCB customer, David Meek, was the first customer in the world to order the JCB 712 Dump Truck. In recent years JCB have bought site dumpers to their extensive range.
