DOCKING AND MANOEUVRING Docking can be just as easy as you want it to be. The joystick for Volvo Penta IPS owners is nothing less than a revolution. And for all other boaters, the complete range of bow and stern thrusters makes manoeuvring effortless. The integrated low-speed mode makes driving at a crawl possible, greatly simplifying close-quarter manoeuvring. Boat trim Maintain perfect trim attitude and heel automatically. 7 VOLVO PENTA IPS JOYSTICK Just move the joystick and the boat reacts accordingly sideways, diagonally, forward, or rotates. From now on, docking is a relaxed and fun experience. The joystick is an option for Volvo Penta IPS-powered boats. It uses the existing propulsion engines and individually steerable drive units. Sophisticated and specially developed software transforms the driver s joystick commands into boat movements. DOCKING STATION The optional docking station is a stand-alone joystick that can be installed anywhere on the boat to give the driver an optimal view for precision manoeuvring and docking. Sport fish mode Developed exclusively for Volvo Penta IPS, the sport fish mode will add a new dimension to your big-game fishing. When the sport fish mode is engaged, the drive units point toe-out. The helmsman can then easily turn the stern in the direction of the fish to ensure a successful catch. LOW-SPEED MODE With the low-speed mode for shaft installations you reduce boat speed when idling by 50 to 75% an invaluable help in tight spots or when fishing. The low-speed mode is totally integrated so that you control your boat in gear from almost standstill up to full speed with the same lever. This gives seamless operation with the standard controls for easy driving. AUTOPILOT INTERFACE Makes it possible to connect an autopilot to Volvo Penta IPS. 9 ELECTRONIC SHIFT AND THROTTLE Upgrade your mechanically controlled engine to electronic shift and throttle. You get smooth shifting and immediate response to throttle commands. The CAN-bus technology provides plug-and-play installation for single or twin engines, plus the possibility of having multiple helm stations. Safety is high and maintenance minimal thanks to features such as composite casings, cables and connectors designed for use in marine environments, and start-in-gear protection. Fits most engines with mechanical shift and throttle. Take hold of a reliable steering system STEERING (07) We offer reliable mechanical and hydraulic systems to fit most inboard demands. Both systems with adjustable steering wheel and no feedback functions so the steering is not affected by forces such as waves, etc. JOYSTICK (08) The joystick is an option for Volvo Penta IPS-powered boats. It uses the existing engines and individually steerable drive units. Sophisticated and specially developed software transforms the driver s joystick commands into boat movements. 10 09 BOAT TRIM SYSTEM (09) Perfect control over attitude and heel with rapid response, quicker to the plane, lower fuel consumption and a more comfortable ride. That s what you get from the patented QL Boat Trim System thanks to water intercept technology with vertical blades. Fits boats from 15 to 50 feet, one or multiple helm stations and with speeds up to 50 knots. The fully logical control is very user-friendly; the buttons correspond to a desired boat movement, which is then controlled by the system. The blades are automatically retracted at engine shut-off, thus reducing the risk of damage and marine growth. The automatic boat trim system takes care of your boat trim while you are cruising. The interceptor blades work horizontally to compensate for any changes in the desired boat attitude that are stored in the system memory. Automatic TRIM FOR SMOOTH RIDES 10 AUTOMATIC BOAT TRIM SYSTEM (09) Automatic boat trim gives you perfect performance and ride comfort automatically. Trim the boat manually to your preferred attitude and press the A button. Now the boat attitude is stored in the system memory even if power is shut off. The automatic boat trim takes over the trim job and maintains the boat s attitude. It automatically compensates for changes in speed, wind or people moving about on board. It also senses changes in course, and does not compensate for heeling in turns. You can easily override the auto mode at any time and operate the trim manually. POWERTRIM ASSISTANT for sterndrive (10) Your Aquamatic drive is trimmed automatically for a safer, more comfortable ride, rapid acceleration and high top speed. This also translates into better fuel economy and lower overall exhaust emissions. The drive is trimmed in during acceleration to get you fast on the plane and then gradually trimmed out at higher engine rpm. You get perfect visibility and a comfortable ride. 11 BOW AND STERN THRUSTERS This complete, high-quality range is one of the most popular among boat builders and boat owners. The hydrodynamic design, propeller performance and efficient transmission give you maximum manoeuvring power. Built-in safety functions such as overheating protection and direction switch delay mean you can trust them to operate when you need them. The thrusters are easy to operate and you can choose between joystick (14), lever/button and touch panel (15) for single or multiple helms CT bow thruster (11). The compact CT600 and CT900 thrusters have direct belt drive for high efficiency and reliability. A simple drop-in technique makes installation easy. Minimal maintenance thanks to no oil in the underwater unit, few moving parts and no anodes required. 11 Stern thruster (12). Installed in combination with a bow thruster, the stern thruster improves boat manoeuvrability and greatly simplifies docking. EVC PLUG-AND-PLAY PLATFORM EVC Electronic Vessel Control is Volvo Penta s electronic platform based on CAN-bus technology. It is the basis of the instrumentation and gives dramatically improved driver information compared to conventional instrumentation. It also means that all information is transmitted in one single cable. Installation is plug-and-play, making it easy to add instruments at a later stage. TRIP COMPUTER FUNCTIONs Just as in your car, you can now have advanced trip computer functions in your boat. Trip distance, average speed and not least instant fuel consumption and remaining fuel range to help you plan your driving. The system is extremely flexible and the functions you get depend on what software and sensors you choose. Data can be displayed in the tachometer or the EVC display. COMPLETE INSTRUMENT RANGE All the instruments you want, regardless of what type of boat you have. EVC MAIN PANEL (17) With the turning knob, it is easy to navigate the info display, make personal settings and adjust functions. TRIP COMPUTER SOFTWARE As an extra option in addition to the tachometer and the EVC display, this software will make trip computer functions available for your engine. 18 FUEL SYSTEM A reliable supply of clean fuel is absolutely essential for safe engine operation. Volvo Penta supplies everything required for a reliable system. Fuel filters (39). Efficient pre-filters for each engine series remove water and particles. They are easy to inspect and the element is easy to replace. Diesel fuel decontaminator (40). Diesel fuels often contain microorganisms that can start to grow and clog up the fuel system. The fuel decontaminator solves this problem permanently. Lubrication, oil and coolant (41) Developed to match the specific demands on Volvo Penta marine engines. Perfect lubrication at all operating temperatures. The things that make your boating enjoyable, regardless of weather. Onboard water system We can supply everything you need to get a just-like-home onboard water system. Water heaters that are integrated with the hot water outlet on the engine and designed for the engine s capacity. WASH-DOWN pumps Just what the caring boat owner always wanted: high-pressure water in a hose! No more bucketing to wash the deck, anchor, ropes etc. Just bring out the hose, open the nozzle and see the dirt get washed away. Air heater This works just like the heating in your car. Perfectly integrated with your engine, it utilizes the excess heat produced by the engine and converts it into heated air which is distributed in the cabin, thus serving as a defroster. This quickly makes the cabin both warm and dry, and keeps the windshield fog-free. Protects the water supply pump from contamination and increases reliability. Accumulator tank (46). 22 48 Wash-down and flexi pumps The wash-down pumps come complete for efficient onboard cleaning. The flexi pumps are versatile and can be used for many purposes. 49 Wash-down pumps With 5 bar pressure, they make light work of swabbing the deck, cleaning a dirty rope etc. Supplied complete with flushing nozzle, hose connection, filter, pressure switch and non-return valve. Flexi pumps (48). Perfect for deckwash, as bilge pumps, for pumping fresh water and diesel fuel. Self-priming, providing full flow immediately. The addition of a vacuum switch prevents the pump from running dry. Flushing kit (49). 23 SOUND ABSORBENT (50) Highly efficient sound-absorbent panels made of recycled plastic foam and protected by an oil-resistant film. Easy to cut to shape. Available as self-adhesive or non-adhesive and in 20, 30 and 50 mm thicknesses Air heater (51) Heats the cabin and/or defrosts the windshield by using the engine s closed-circuit cooling system. Four outlets are supplied, which can be connected to air hoses, and the airflow can be set at three different speeds. Macerator pump (52) This toilet pump has a rotating knife that shreds waste material before it is pumped to a septic tank. The weather is unpredictable, but a warm cabin is not 52 ONBOARD COMFORT 23

24 SAFETY Safety at sea is very much a matter of being prepared. Keeping the boat shipshape with the engine and other systems in order, e.g. an efficient engine room fan. But also being prepared for when things go wrong. Automatic bilge pumps with high capacity to cope with large volumes. The right set of spare parts and tools on board can come to the rescue in many situations. And although we don t sell life jackets, we always wear one when we are out at sea. It is simple to service and clean. Six models with capacities from 30 to 130 l/min. Float switches. Boost safety, activating the pump as soon as bilge water is detected. Mechanical or electronic. Control panel. Manual or automatic control of the pump equipment Manual bilge pump (55) For safety reasons, you should always install a manual bilge pump on board. Capacity: up to 90 l/min.
