With up to seven comfortable seats 1), you and your passengers will appreciate the ample head and leg room, even in the second and third rows of seats. Unique: For a rearward facing seating arrangement, the individual seats in the second row of seats 2) can simply be rotated by 360 degrees in the blink of an eye no complicated reassembly needed (fig. 01). 9 14 15 The new Multivan Safety systems Safety systems that are prepared for almost anything. A high level of protection during every journey. Safety systems support the driver, helping to improve the safety and comfort of all vehicle occupants and other road users. Where necessary, the systems intervene in the driving process, and thereby help to reduce the risk of accidents on the road. Electronic Stabilisation Programme. 1) Prevent under- or over-steering via targeted braking of individual wheels. Anti-lock braking system (ABS). Prevents wheel block and, thus, maintains manoeuvrability. Traction control system (TCS). Prevents wheelspin. Electronic differential lock (EDL). Distributes the engine torque to the tyres without slippage. Airbags. Provide the best possible protection in the event of head-on and side impacts as standard. The front passenger airbag can be deactivated using the vehicle key when a child seat is fitted. Optional head airbags provide added protection for those in the passenger compartment. 2) Seat belt warning. If the seat belts is not fastened, the seat belt warning reminds the driver to fasten the belt with a visual warning when the engine is started, and an acoustic warning after setting off. Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. 1) Triggers braking after a collision, with the aim of preventing secondary collisions. The Automatic Post-Collision Braking System activates when two independent sensors detect an accident. After a short delay, the vehicle begins a phased braking action down to 10 km/h, during which the driver can take over at any time. 10 16 17 The new Multivan Driver assistance systems driver assistance systems for added comfort. Support in critical situations. Advanced driver assistance systems aid the driver in the event of critical situations by being able to temporarily assume brake and engine control. Driver Alert System. 2) Uses visual and acoustic warning signals to recommend that the driver takes a break as soon as it registers driving behaviour that indicates tiredness. Brake assist system. Registers the speed at which the brake pedal is pressed. During a reflexive or emergency braking action, it ensures that full brake pressure is built up more quickly. Daytime running lights. Switch on automatically when the ignition is activated and lower the risk of an accident in daylight. Rear View reversing camera. Simplifies parking by showing a limited view of the area behind the vehicle on the display of the radio 1) or navigation system. Additional static guidelines facilitate the parking process. ParkPilot. 2) Emits audible warnings when obstacles are detected in front of or behind the vehicle when parking, and also provides a visual display 1) of the vehicle s distance from the obstacles. Hill Start Assist. Prevents the vehicle from rolling back on inclines and makes handling easier when starting up on uphill slopes. Tyre monitoring display. 2) Warns when there is a deviation in tyre pressure and indicates to the driver to check tyre pressure as soon as possible. Adaptive Cruise Control ACC. 2) Automatically adapts the speed to that of the vehicle driving in front and maintains the distance set by the driver. At the same time, it remains within the set speed. Already includes the Front Assist ambient traffic monitoring system. Lane change assist Side Assist. 2) Displays a warning signal in the door mirror if one of the system s sensors registers a vehicle in the blind spot when changing lanes. High-beam assistant ÒLight AssistÓ. Automatically dips the headlights for oncoming vehicles or vehicles travelling ahead before they are dazzled. Above 60 km/h and in complete darkness, the system automatically switches on the high beam headlights. Fog lights with integrated static cornering light. Ensures optimal visibility in poor weather conditions. The headlight nearest to the corner illuminates the roadside when turning. Cruise control. As of a speed of 30 km/h, it maintains the set speed depending on uphill and downhill inclines. ÒFront AssistÓ ambient traffic monitoring system with City Emergency Braking System. 2), 3) Uses a radar system to detect situations where the distance to the vehicle in front is critical, and reduces the vehicle s stopping distance. In dangerous situations, the system alerts the driver by means of visual and acoustic signals, and with a warning jolt of the brakes. 11 Engines, running gear and transmission The new Multivan Latest generation of engines compliant with the euro 6 emission standard. Extra low fuel consumption with even more power. The new generation of engines offers impressively low fuel consumption with every unit and all without dampening driving pleasure. As a result, a lower average consumption of 5.7 l/100 km1), 2) with average CO 2 emission of 149 g/km 1), 2) is possible. Na turally, the new TDI engines comply with the Euro 6 emission standard. The 2.0 l TDI engine with 150 kw is particularly powerful, while also boasting low fuel consumption. Additional engines will be intro duced at a later date. The new diesel engines. 12 20 21 The new Multivan BlueMotion Technology and Environmental Commendation exemplary efficiency thanks to BlueMotion technology. Standard technology that helps to save more fuel. The Environmental Commendation. Volkswagen s Environmental Commendation serves to identify ecological progress for vehicles and technologies in comparison with predecessor models or comparative models. This is based on Life Cycle Assessments in accordance with ISO and ISO 14044, which are verified by independent experts in the case of Volkswagen, by the technical inspection authority TÜV NORD. The Life Cycle Assessment covers not only the vehicle s pure driving time, but also its entire life cycle from the raw materials extraction and material production to the vehicle manufacturing and usage phase, as well as recycling. Detailed results of the Life Cycle Assessments and additional information on how Volkswagen products and processes are devised to be more environmentally friendly are available on the Internet: nachhaltigkeit/produkte.html Regenerative braking (not illustrated). This recharges the vehicle battery during overrun and braking phases, thereby relieving strain on the engine and reducing fuel consumption. BlueMotion Technology makes a significant contribution to the lower fuel consumption and emission value of the new Multivan, and in doing so, sets a whole new standard for sustainable mobility. For the new generation of TDI engines with Euro 6 emission standard, BlueMotion Technology comes as standard. It includes: regenerative braking, roll resistance-optimised tyres and start/ stop system. 01 Roll resistance-optimised tyres (not illustrated). The new Multivan makes contact with the road via tyres with optimised rolling resistance. The low rolling resistance reduces fuel consumption, and with it, CO 2 emission. BlueMotion Technology efficiency package (not illustrated). Just reach for the handle to let fresh air in, quickly and easily with the new sliding windows in the passenger compartment on both the left and right sides. Insulating glass package (not illustrated). It reduces external noise by up to 6 db (A). The windscreen is specially coated and made from insulating glass, while the side windows are reinforced. All windows in the passenger compartment are tinted (privacy glass). The optionally available side windows cannot be supplied in acoustic glass. 02 Black solar protection film. 1) It allows only 39 % of solar radiation to enter the passenger compartment: 54 % is absorbed and 7 % reflected. When combined with privacy glass the windows present an almost opaque appearance. Electric sliding doors (not illustrated). Equipped with a number of electronic trapping protectors, the sliding doors are easy to operate using either the remote control or a button in driver s cab. Only one electric sliding door is available for the Multivan Trendline. 03 Engine underride guard. The robust aluminium guard provides a high level of protection for the engine and gearbox, even in extreme situations. It also protects against dirt and contact with the ground. Other protective equipment for the underbody can be ordered. Please bear in mind that the increase in the vehicle s unladen weight results in a lower payload. 04 Protection package. 1) This consists of four different underride guards made of sheet aluminium: an underride guard for the engine and gearbox, an underride guard for the rear axle differential, an underride guard for the main silencer, a side sill protection strip on the right as well as an underride guard for the fuel tank, which also protects the side sill on the left from damage. The Protection package is available for all Multivan models with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Tow bar (not illustrated). It is lockable, removable and has a trailer stabilisation system. 05 Headlight cleaning system. When the low- or high-beam headlights are turned on, the headlight housing glass is washed once for every five windscreen washes. 06 LED headlights. The energy-saving LEDs generate both low and high-beam illumination. The high reliability and life span of the LEDs improves safety by reducing the likelihood of failure. LED headlights are unique because of their large light volumes, durability, light spectrum similar to daylight, and low energy consumption. Only available in conjunction with LED tail lights. 07 Chrome package. 2) This package is just right for those who favour a more stylish appearance. Elegant chrome details accentuate the lower air intake grille, the sides and the rear of the vehicle. CL HL 08 LED tail lights. The side and braking lights feature energy-saving LEDs. 09 Electrically folding door mirrors. Electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors are fitted as standard. 27 infotainment Infotainment The new Multivan Car-Net Guide & Inform. 1) For even greater levels of comfort, the vehicle is available with a number of mobile online services from Car-Net Guide & Inform. As a consistent extension of the vehicle s navigation system, Car-Net Guide & Inform retrieves the latest information from the Internet. If, for instance, a traffic jam is building, your route will be changed in response to this. You can also choose to display the cheapest petrol station nearby, or check the vacancies in car parks and parking spaces at your destination, and much more. MEDIA-IN interface, compatible with ipod/iphone/ipad (not illustrated). 2) External audio players, e.g. CD or MP3 players, can be connected via a USB cable. Standard equipment Optional extra TL Trendline CL Comfortline HL Highline 02 Car-Net App-Connect. 3), 4) With this function, selected apps from your smartphone can be used while driving. The screen of your smartphone can also be mirrored onto the radio or navigation system s display via the USB port and controlled using the touchscreen. Electronic voice amplification (see page 39 for illustration). 3) This ensures that the driver does not have to speak loudly in order to talk to the passengers in the rear compartment. The voice input is recorded through a hands-free microphone, amplified, and then transmitted over the loudspeaker in the rear. Wireless Internet access (not illustrated). This enables you to have convenient access to and the Internet while on the road. CL HL Volkswagen Media Control (not illustrated). 5) Turn your smartphone or tablet into a remote control 6) for the navigation system, and control the audio system using a wireless connection from the comfort of the passenger compartment. Or mirror a navigation route from your tablet onto the colour touchscreen display. 03 Comfort mobile phone interface. 7) The special compartment for your mobile phone has a wireless external aerial connection to optimise your mobile phone reception. Charging the phone is straightforward, too: The telephone simply has to be connected to the USB port which is also located in the compartment. 04 Voice control. 3) You are free to operate the telephone, navigation, and audio functions without taking your hands off the steering wheel. Furthermore, you can call up virtually all menus and notifications on the radio or navigation system displays using voice control. 05 DYNAUDIO sound system. 8) Eleven precisely tuned loudspeakers including a central loudspeaker in the dash panel combine with an 11-channel amplifier to deliver a full sound with an output of up to 600 watts. CL HL 06 Discover Media navigation system. In addition to the functions of the Composition Media radio system with eight loudspeakers, there is a second integrated SD-card slot which is compatible with the SD-card with the map data. Free updates for the installed maps for Europe are available from Volkswagen MapCare on the Volkswagen homepage. TL Discover Media Plus navigation system (not illustrated). In addition to the functions of the Discover Media navigation system with eight loudspeakers, the equipment also includes: DAB+ digital radio, voice control, Car-Net App-Connect, Volkswagen Media Control, electronic voice amplification and the Comfort mobile phone interface with MEDIA-IN interface. 07 Composition Media radio system. The system consists of a 16.5 cm (6.33 inch) TFT colour display, a touchscreen with proximity sensor, an MP3- and WMA-compatible CD drive, a 4 x 20 watt output with eight loudspeakers, an SD-card slot, an AUX- IN interface and a USB port in the glove compartment, a Bluetooth connection for mobile telephones, and a dual tuner with phase diversity for optimal radio reception. 08 Composition Colour radio system. The system consists of a 12.7 cm (5 inch) TFT colour display with touchscreen function, an MP3- and WMA-compatible CD drive, a 4 x 20 watt output with eight loudspeakers, an SD-card slot, an AUX-IN interface, a USB port, a Bluetooth connection for mobile telephones and a dual tuner with PhaseDiversity for optimal radio reception. 09 Composition Audio radio system. The system consists of a TFT monochrome display, a 4 x 20 watt output with four loudspeakers, an SD-card slot, an AUX-IN interface, a USB port and a Bluetooth connection for mobile telephones. TL 1) Only available in conjunction with the Discover Media and Discover Media Plus navigation systems. From the second year usage carries an extra charge. No matter what your requirements, you can rearrange the 5.8 m 2 (with short wheelbase) or 6.7 m 2 (with long wheelbase) passenger and luggage space with the aid of the ingenious rail system, which allows for simple and continuous sliding of the 3-seater bench seat and individual seats. The rail cover is simple to remove, making it even easier to remove and reinstall the 3-seater bench seat, and individual seats. 02 Step illumination. The step plate has illuminated lettering. This makes it easier to get in and out of the vehicle, while adding a touch of elegance to the interior. 03 Swivelling seat with integrated child seat. The individual seat with armrests can be changed quickly and easily from a full adult seat with a three-point safety belt into a robust child s seat, and can be swivelled as required all without you breaking out in a sweat. 04 Comfort seating with lumbar support. The height-adjustable, ergonomic seats for the driver and front passenger are equipped with armrests and lumbar support. The lumbar support can be adjusted electronically upon request. 05 Multiflex board. A stable multiflex board with an upholstery cover is available in conjunction with the 3-seater bench seat. It can be secured to the rail system, provides a divider for the boot space, creates an additional storage surface, and increases the loading surface. This option replaces the luggage compartment cover. 06 The leather 3-seater bench seat. When combined with the Nappa leather and Alcantara seat upholstery, the seat s contours are made even sharper, to provide better lateral support. Centre armrest (not illustrated). It can be folded down easily, making the 3-seater bench seat even more comfortable. In conjunction with the Nappa leather and Alcantara seat upholstery, the armrest is integrated into the 3-seater bench seat as standard. CL HL 07 Good Night Package. Only available in conjunction with the multiflex board. The package is made up of fabric blinds for the windows, a mini reading lamp, a washable cover, and three drawers underneath the 3-seater bench seat. 08 Electrical 12-way seat adjustment. 1) The driver and front passenger seats can be adjusted electrically. They can be adjusted in terms of lumbar support, backrest tilt, seat height as well as seating surface tilt and length in order to find your ideal seating position. Three different seat configurations can be saved for the driver seat using the memory function. Electric 12-way seat adjustment includes seat heating for the driver and front passenger seats. CL HL Net partition (not illustrated). The tear-resistant net partition offers passive protection. It can be stretched to the attachment points behind the B pillar or in front of the D pillar. 09 De luxe dash panel. The horizontal lines of the exterior design are mirrored inside by the newly designed dash panel. The harmonious interplay of the decorative inserts, decorative trim and interior colour creates a cosy atmosphere. Numerous practical storage and stowage options round off the benefits offered. CL HL A Upper storage pocket in the driver and front passenger door. B Middle compartment with lid. 2) C Glove compartment, above, with lid and integrated MEDIA-IN and AUX-IN interfaces. Comfort headlining (illustration on page 34). Ventilation strips in the headlining supply fresh air to the passenger compartment, and help to reduce misting up of the side windows. The swivelling reading lamps can be adjusted individually. Multifunction table (illustration on page 38). This table not only provides a round surface, but also several drawers for small and large utensils. When not in use, the table top can be turned by 90, folded together and lowered into the base. The multifunction table can then slide along the two extra centre rails between the single seats. 29 01 02 interior and comfort Interior and comfort The new Multivan Leather-covered multifunction steering wheel. It gives you a good grip and is extremely user-friendly. The radio or navigation system, a mobile phone or the cruise control can be controlled using the buttons. It features both a height and reach adjustment and therefore allows the driver to sit comfortably, even on long journeys. Servotronic speeddependent power-assisted steering can be ordered as an option. It enhances handling when manoeuvring and parking, and comfort when driving at higher speeds. Anti-theft alarm system (not illustrated). Acoustic and visual signals warn of unauthorised entry. The system is also available with interior monitoring. It can be deactivated via a separate switch if necessary. 02 Cruise control. As of a speed of approx. 30 km/h, the cruise control maintains the speed you have selected. This means you can take your foot off the accelerator, while the even driving style helps to reduce fuel consumption. 03 Climatic air conditioning. This semiautomatic air conditioning system has an interior sensor, and constantly compares the interior temperature with the desired temperature in the cab. It also provides optimal air distribution in the passenger compartment. TL CL 04 Climatronic 3-zone air conditioning. This system offers 3-zone temperature control for the driver, front passenger and passengers in the passenger compartment. It recognises the intensity of the sun s rays and the outside temperature, and adds more or less cool air accordingly. The automatic air recirculation function with an air quality sensor creates a pleasant interior climate. Heated windscreen (not illustrated). 1) Assures a good view to the front even in damp and cold weather. Heated rear window (not illustrated). Assures a good view to the rear even in damp and cold weather. Seat heating (not illustrated). For driver and front passenger seats, separately adjustable. 05 Auxiliary heating system. This works independently of the heating and ventilation systems, and can be controlled via the central console or by remote control. Alternatively, a water heater is also available upon request. 06 Sunblinds. Blinds in the passenger compartment shield passengers from bright sunlight and screen them from view. They can be pulled out easily from the housing at the bottom of the side windows and attached to the top. 07 Sliding/tilting roof. The sliding sun roof can be opened, tilted and closed via the automatic preselection or the turn switch on the roof lining. If resistance is met, an electronic trapping protector stops this process immediately. 08 Light & Sight package. Designed to improve visibility, this package consists of an automatically dimming rear view mirror, which protects against dazzling from traffic to the rear, and a rain sensor, which activates the windscreen wipers. 2) The driving light assistant with coming home/leaving home function illuminates the area around the vehicle for improved safety and convenience. 09 Insulating box. It is electrically operated, and can be used to cool and warm the contents. The anthracite-coloured 32 l insulating box can hold 1.5 l bottles lying down, and 1.0 l bottles standing up. 10 Lashing eyes. There are six lashing eyes to secure your load safely in the passenger compartment and luggage compartment. 11 Rubber floor mats. They protect the cab floor from dirt and damp. They can easily be removed and cleaned with water. 12 Carpet floor mats. The robust velours carpet floor mats create a more homely feeling in the driver s cab. 31 volkswagen accessories Volkswagen Accessories The new Multivan The new Multivan is a highly flexible and comfortable multi-purpose vehicle that is suited to every requirement. With Volkswagen Accessories, you can make useful additions to the functions and capabilities of your vehicle, and adjust the vehicle according to your needs. The equipment lines have been developed through close cooperation with our Development and Design Department, are of top quality, and are only available at your Volkswagen dealer. So everything fits nicely together Loading sill protection. This synthetic loading sill protection with a high-quality stainless steel look can be easily attached, protecting the bumper from scratches that may occur during loading and unloading. This functional design element adds a sophisticated touch to the Multivan s loading sill and contributes to maintaining the value of your vehicle. 02 Wind and rain deflector. When driving with the window slightly open, the deflector effectively reduces spray and wind noise. It also offers protection for when the sun shines from the side. The deflector s shape is an exact match to the vehicle, and can be attached without drilling or adhesives. 03 Basic carrier. A lockable, city-crash-tested basic carrier made of anodised aluminium profile bars is available for the new Multivan. It is designed for a load of up to 45 kg, and can be fitted with different carrier systems. 04 Ski and snowboard holder. The lockable ski holder can be mounted to the basic carrier, and allows you to transport up to six pairs of skis, four snowboards or one wakeboard. The wide opening buttons and convenient pull-out function make loading and unloading as easy as possible. 05 Roof box. The large boxes in Titanium Metallic are easy to secure thanks to the quickrelease fasteners on the basic carrier, and have a capacity of either 340 or 460 litres. The DuoLift system enables the boxes to be opened from either side. Both boxes can be comfortably sealed with 3-point central locking. 06 Luggage net. The tear-resistant, elastic net is simply secured to the standard lashing eyes in the luggage compartment using the integrated hooks. This ensures that small and large objects remain in place. 07 Luggage compartment liner. The light, flexible insert precisely fits the contours of the Multivan. A raised rim of approx. 5 cm around the edge provides protection from moisture and dirt. The diamond pattern on the liner has a non-slip effect. When not in use, the liner can be rolled up to save on space. 08 G0 plus ISOFIX infant seat. This child seat system offers newborn babies and infants up to 15 months (or weighing up to 13 kg) a high level of comfort and optimum protection. The seat s frame, which is firmly secured to the vehicle using the ISOFIX mounting points, is a base for the portable seat shell. The individual seat adjustments and the height-adjustable 5-point harness ensure that the infant is safely secured in the seat shell. This seat system also has a removable sunshade, an adjustable carrying handle and a fabric cover that can easily be removed and washed. 09 G1 ISOFIX DUO child seat plus Top Tether. This comfortable seat system offers children from 8 months up to 4 years old (or 9 to 18 kilograms) optimal support. The individually adjustable seat position and height-adjustable harness ensure that the child is safely secured in the seat shell. The seat is secured to the ISOFIX mounting points and to an additional top tether anchor point on the rear bench seat. 10 G2-3 ISOFIT child seat. This comfortable child seat provides ideal support for children between 3 and 12 years of age (15 to 36 kg). The special design of the seat sides also assures the best possible protection. The seat is attached using the vehicle s ISOFIX mounting points. Thanks to the individual seat adjustments the child is optimally protected with the vehicle s 3-point seat belt. The covers can easily be removed and washed, when needed.
