EAT6 automatic gearbox The 1.2 L PureTech 110 S&S version of the new PEUGEOT 208 features the EAT6 automatic gearbox, with 6-speed converter, optimising fuel consumption and enhancing driving pleasure. 8 INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY On board the new PEUGEOT 208, equipment is evolving and safety is improving: Active City Brake* The Active City Brake technology is a new system to help prevent accidents or reduce their severity in the event of the driver not taking action in urban conditions, below 30 km/h. A short-range laser sensor (Lidar) located at the top of the windscreen detects obstacles such as a vehicle ahead moving in the same direction or at a stop. It can automatically trigger full power braking to prevent collisions or limit the consequences by reducing the speed of impact. In some cases, this system can even bring the vehicle to a complete stop automatically, preventing a collision with the vehicle infront. *As an option or unavailable depending on the version. Airbags In the event of a collision, six standard airbags increase occupant protection: two frontal airbags, two front side airbags and two front and rear curtain airbags. ESP All 208s have ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) as standard, with ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation), DSC (dynamic stability control), EBA (emergency brake assist), ABS (antilock braking system) and EBD (electronic brake force distribution). Static intersection lighting* With dipped or main beam, when the turn indicator is activated or when the steering wheel is at a certain angle, this function enables the beam of the front fog light to illuminate the bend, when the vehicle is doing less than 40 km/h (city driving, winding roads, junctions, parking, etc.). *Standard on Allure model. Park Assist, Reversing Camera and Satellite Navigation* The reversing camera comes on automatically when the car is put into reverse. The image is displayed on the touch screen and the system detects hidden obstacles when reversing. It can be paired with the Park Assist, an active parking aid that detects a parking space and provides assistance getting into and out of spaces. It automatically controls the steering and gives the driver visual and audible feedback. The driver manages acceleration, braking and gear changes. *As an option or unavailable depending on the version. The new PEUGEOT 208 also has applications, tools and connected services including satellite navigation that can be accessed using the 7 touchscreen. Mirror Screen* The Mirror Screen function lets you use Mirrorlink ** or Carplay *** compatible applications from your smartphone on the vehicle s 7 touchscreen. For optimum legibility and safe in-car use, compatible applications appear with a specific interface designed for driving. *As an option or unavailable depending on the version. **Only certified MirrorLink or Carplay applications work either when stopped or while driving. When driving, certain functionalities of the applications concerned will be disabled. Some types of content that may be free of charge on your smartphone require paid subscription to an equivalent certified MirrorLink orcarplay application. You ll find its variable, electric power-assisted steering makes it easy to park and manoeuvre in heavy traffic. As you might expect, the 208 is also equipped with a powerful, durable braking system designed to help maintain the car s composure even in difficult situations. This includes: Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) to help you keep control of the steering and prevent the car from skidding under heavy braking. Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) applies a different amount of braking force to individual wheels to keep the car stable especially if you need to brake in a corner. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) hit the brakes hard in a hurry and the system will come to your aid, applying maximum braking power in milliseconds to bring you to a halt quickly and safely. This system automatically activates the hazard lights to warn other motorists. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) which is standard across the range, comprises: Traction Control (ASR) activates the braking and engine management systems to prevent the driven wheels from spinning in slippery conditions. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) continuously monitors and compares data from the steering wheel sensor and the yaw sensor to detect any under or over-steer, then uses the braking and engine management systems to keep you on course.
