3 1943 SERIES 18 Number Date SERIES REPAIR ASSEMBLY INSTEAD OF REPLACING IT BT TRANSMISSION SHIFT FINGER AND SHAFT ASSEMBLY. This assembly, which is used on 1939 and 1940 cars, consists of the following parts: BT Shift Finger Assembly BT Shift Shaft Assembly BT Pivot Pin We can supply all of these parts with the exception of the Shift Finger Assembly; and due to the difficulty of obtaining this forging, we cannot at present build up or supply the assembly Therefore, instead of replacing the entire assembly, it will be necessary for you to repair it by assembling new parts and to the old shift finger This shift finger is a forging and rarely becomes damaged badly enough to require replacement. If in the future it becomes possible for us to again supply the assembly, we shall advise you promptly. In the meantime, please refrain from ordering instead order the parts necessary to repair your old assembly. _ 1942 FLOOR MAT MAY BE USED IN OLDER CARS NEW PATTERNS FOR SEAT COVERS The Universal Front Floor Mat - BO designed for 1940, 1941 and 1942 cars, may in an emergency be used for cars previous to 1940, which used Universal Front Floor Mat BO Due to the different size and contours of the front compartment, the fit would not be as good or as neat as However, in most cases at the present time, in which utility is the main consideration, this mat will make a satisfactory replacement in these older model cars. _ Hudson seat covers are, as you know, of the highest quality, both in workmanship and material; and, when carefully installed, are extremely satisfactory from the standpoint of appearance and utility. As is the case with most raw materials used in the construction of automobiles, seat cover fiber matting fabrics are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain, and some have already become completely unavailable. 6 DONATED BY PHIL ROSKIE S ESTATE 21 Number Date PARTS SUPPLIED FOR 1940 TRANSMIS- SION COVER ASSEMBLY Starting at once, the Factory Parts Department will discontinue supplying the 1940 Transmission Cover Assembly - part number BT ; therefore in case of damage to this assembly it will be necessary to repair it by replacing the parts affected. This is a forging which rarely becomes damaged, and is difficult to obtain at the present time. You were given this information in Parts Bulletin No. 18, dated April 22, Likewise, the Shift Selector Plate - BT is difficult to obtain, but fortunately is a part which seldom needs to be replaced. 7 24 10/11/43 Number Date FLANGES OMITTED FROM EX- HAUST PIPE ASSEMBLIES In order to alleviate the back order situation in regard to Exhaust Pipe Assemblies, a procedure has been worked out which will benefit both you and us. Delay in the filling of orders for Exhaust Pipe Assemblies has been largely duo to difficulty in obtaining the flange - BZ which has been a part of the assembly. Rather than hold up shipments of the exhaust pipes on this account, we believe that the interests of good service will be furthered by omitting the flange. Therefore, the Factory Parts Department will henceforth ship exhaust pipes minus the flange. SAVE OLD FLANGES NEW CLAMP ASSEMBLY We suggest that you save the flanges an exhaust pipes removed in your shop, for use in making installation of new pipes. This may easily be done except in the case of some 1937, 1938 and 1939 pipes, which have a small support bracket welded to the pipe which prevents the flange being slid into position. For these particular pipes the following plan will be followed: On these pipes, namely , , , and , which formerly had the welded-on bracket, this bracket will no longer be welded directly to the pipe. Instead it will be welded to a clamp which may be removed or replaced at will. This will permit the old flange to be placed in position on the new pipe, after which the clamp is installed. The clamp can be located and tightened at final assembly to the car. The clamp and bracket assembly will be supplied as part of the Exhaust Pipe Assemblies , , , and P. E. 8 25 Number Date SUBSTITU-- TIONS BEING DISTRI- BUTORS In an effort to alleviate the temporary shortage condition of certain parts, we call to your attention the following substitutions which are being successfully used by some Distributors and Dealers. These substitutions are not authorized by the factory, nor are they being made by the factory parts department. We are merely bringing them to your attention as emergency measures which may enable you to avoid delays in repairing cars when the specified parts are not available. As the extension is a component part of the water pump assemblies used on models 1934 KU, 1935 GU, 63, 73, 83 and 93, these pumps will be supplied less the extension. Therefore, when making water pump replacements on the above mentioned models, it will be advisable for you to remove the extension from the old pump, and use it for installation on the new pump. The part is not subject to wear, its function being to bring the fan blades closer to the radiator P. E.
