2 Tsubaki Plastic Chain UMW Ultra Low Friction Series In recent years due to higher speed lines, smooth conveying of plastic bottles and paper drink containers and countermeasures for Caser accumulators, the calls for improved slip functioning, over previous specifications, have been increasing. Tsubaki has accomplished its goal of providing an Ultra Low Friction specification through the addition of a special silicon-based lubricant in our UMW Series. The previous Low Friction specification (MW) has been further improved with the UMW series and is able to meet a wider range of needs. Compared to the MW series the coefficient of friction has been reduced from between 15 to 3 percent and has better slip functioning (Under dry conditions). The UMW series conforms to the Japanese Ministry of Welfare s Food Hygiene laws (Item#2). Corresponds to a variety of other chain models Top Chain, Beltop Chain, RS Plastic chain and Mini Plastic Chain (Excluding some models) Standard Blue markings The link material of the Ultra Low Friction Specification (UMW) has been combined with a silicon-based lubricant. Please do not use in printing processes as there is a concern of smearing of printed matter. For accumulators before casers and various packing machines In areas before casers, conveyed products build up and pressure between products occurs as products bump and push against each other. However slider cannot be used in this area as there is concerns of products becoming wet. UMW Ultra Low Friction functioning allows smooth conveying and accumulation, perfect for caser entrances.

When the return roller s rotation is not smooth, wear dust may occur or wavelike wear may occur on the surface of the Top plate. Please use the IR6 or IR18 under dry conditions. 8 Allowable Tension graphs The Plastic chain UMW specification is the result of the pursuit for further improvements in Low Friction. Compared to the previous specification MW (MWB & MWG), Maximum allowable tension is 3% less. Although the reduction in strength ratio is roughly the same and that the friction resistance also dropped, (Drop in effective tension) there is no concern when replacing the previous specification. 10 Chain cutting points Please follow the below points for chain cutting when setting up or performing maintenance on the chain. When cutting the chain, to avoid breakage, please ensure the chain suffers no excessive shocks. Chain cutting points for Plastic pin specifications Connection use D Pin 1) When connecting the chain please use the specialized D Pin. 2) So as to distinguish it from the main chain pin (White) the D Pin is orange. 3) One connecting use D Pin is provided with each chain. Cutting points (1) Disassembly BTO8 & MP4-5 Type Placing a punch (Lower than φ4. for BTO8 and lower than φ2.5 for MP4-5) on the outer edge of the D Pin on the D hole side of the link, lightly strike the punch with a hammer to remove the pin. Or using a thin flat head screwdriver remove the pin from the pin stopper side. Please do not reuse the pin after removal. TTP & TPH Type Placing a punch (Lower than φ5.) on the outer edge of the D Pin lightly strike the punch with a hammer to remove the pin. The Pin can be removed from the left or the right hand side D Pin Stopper (2) Connecting Please use the special Connecting use D Pin (Orange). Check that the D Pin is facing the correct direction and then insert it into the link. Using a hammer, lightly strike the D Pin stopper until it is just below the outer surface of the link. DPin Please do not reuse the pin after removal. Please use the special Connecting use D Pin (Orange). Place the punch on the outer end of the D Pin and lightly strike with a hammer and insert the Pin. The Pin can be inserted from either the left or the right (3) Reconnecting Please do not cut the chain were there is already a D Pin (Orange) in place.

11 Beltop Chain Cutting points Construction of both sides of the chain So that the pin does not come loose a snap attachment has been inserted in the underside of the link on both sides. (Snap fit) (2) Using a threaded head screwdriver, screw it into the center of the pin head (φ1.) and pull the pin out to disassemble the chain. Pin Link Snap attachment Disassembly and Connection (1) Insert a small flathead screwdriver into the link hole between the gap of the snap attachment (Approx. 1mm) and remove the attachment. (3) When connecting the chain, slide both sides of the chain together and insert the pin from one side. Reinsert the snap attachment on the underside of the chain. Disassembly can be carried out from any point on the chain. The pin can be inserted from either the left or the right.
