This product must be installed as per these instructions, only using the hardware supplied by Superior Engineering unless given prior written consent from Superior Engineering. 3 Page 3 of 11 Superior Engineering Installation Instructions Part Description: Nissan GQ/GU Long Arm Kit Part Number: GQGULONGARM 499 Uhlmann Rd Burpengary QLD 4505 Australia NOTE: Read and understand these Installation Instructions before beginning the installation process. Retain these installation Instructions for future reference. It is recommended this item is installed by a Qualified Person. NOTE: If the pinion angle is not correct at time of starting you can slightly move the diff forwards or backwards to set the pinion correctly prior to welding the steel from chassis to diff, alternately you can fit upper control arms to adjust pinion angle once the long arms are fitted in the correct location. CAUTION Please ensure all bolts are tightened to correct torque setting. Recheck in 500km. Fitting of this item requires use of welding and cutting equipment which can cause injury and death if used incorrectly. Size Torque (Nm) Torque (ft-lb) M Park vehicle on flat level ground, apply the handbrake and chock front wheels. 2. Pinion angle must be correct prior to fitting the new arms. 3. If the vehicle is fitted with a sub tank the sub tank will need to be removed and all the fuel will need to be cleaned up. 4. Tack weld a piece of steel bar from chassis to the diff on both sides of the diff (front & rear) and both sides of the car (driver & passenger side) so when the original control arms are removed the diff does not move. (As seen in figure 3) 5. Remove the original control arms (As seen in figure 3) 6. Cut off the original control arm chassis mount with an oxy/acetylene or plasma cutter. (As seen in figure 4) NOTE: Leave the OE crush bar in the chassis. 7. Clean up the remaining material off the chassis with a grinder with a flap wheel. Make sure to only take away the control arm mount material do not take any of the chassis thickness away as this will make a weak spot. (As seen in figure 5) WARNING Beware of removing material form the main chassis structure or creating stress risers, remove ONLY excess material! 8. If the kit is being fitted to a wagon the mid body mount will need to be trimmed for clearance for the strong back. (As seen in figure 6 & 7) 9. Fit the long arm into the diff mounts. (As seen in figure 8) NOTE: Do not tighten the bolts yet. 10. Swing up the long arm at the front and mark the chassis where the bolt is going to go through. 11. Measure the height of the original crush bar and duplicate to the new position. (As seen marked out in figure 9) 12. Cut the hole in the chassis through both sides for the crush bar. This is best done with a hole saw make sure to keep it square. (As seen in figure 10) On some chassis there is a mount on the inside of the chassis cut the leg off the mount where the crush tube will mount and clean-up. (As seen in figure 11) 13. Push the crush tube through the chassis fit the new control arm mount with spacer and factory bolt on to the chassis, make sure the control arm mount is up against the bottom of the chassis then tighten the bolt and nut. So the mount is square and up tight against the chassis then tack

4 Page 4 of 11 weld crush bar in place. NOTE: Check crush bar is square in chassis. 14. As a check you can measure crush tube back to the original crush tube on both sides and check the measurement is the same. Then fully weld the back of the crush tube (Inside the chassis). (As seen in figure 12) 15. Allow to cool then mark around the new control arm mount on where to clean for welding and remove the control arm mount, spacer and bolt. (As seen in figure 13) FRONT 16. Fully weld the outside crush tube into place. 17. Clean the chassis where it has been marked out back to bear metal. 18. Refit the control arm mount, spacer and bolt with nut then tighten the bolt and nut. 19. Fully weld the new control arm mount. PASSENGER SIDE DRIVER SIDE 20. Allow to cool then remove the bolt with spacer and paint mount and chassis. Figure 2: Angle Of Bushes And Direction Of Arms 21. Loosely fit long arms to the diff and new control arm mounts. 22. IMPORTANT NOTE: The steel bushes are welded onto the lower control arms on an angle as the mounts are Narrower at the diff than the chassis mounts (As per Figure 2.) 23. Tighten all bolts to required torque settings making sure to use 263 Loctite.
