2 GENERAL DESCRIPTI There is several different models computerized acoustic pedestrian signals, along with some non-acoustic signals: TS-910, TS-911, TS-920, TS-921. See model overview page 7. The housing is manufactured in strong aluminium and electro-oxidized in blue color also available in gold electrooxidized or varnished. AMBIENT NOISE CTROL The unit is controlled and supervised by a microprocessor. A built-in microphone measures the ambient noise level and the microprocessor automatically adjusts the output volume. VANDAL PROOF The unique electronic front panel has no moving parts and is very resistant to vandalism, compared to a traditional mechanical push button. NOTIFICATI To confirm the operation, an audible signal (beep) is emitted when used. Simultaneously, the LED s behind the protection lens are lit. These LED s have a very long lifespan and low power consumption. CUSTOMER SUPPORT support@prismatibro.se Direction indicator RELIEF SYMBOLS With the arrangement of relief symbols, all acoustic signals give blind/weak-sighted tactile information about the type of crossing they are about to pass, see page 4. An arrow fitted to the top of the unit gives the direction in which to walk or in the bottom cover, if the option of vibrator in the bottom cover is fitted. 3 INSTALLATI The Prisma TS-900 is of a module design, for fast and easy installation and servicing. The units come complete with the connecting cable. The cable is connected to a snap-on terminal block for quick removal when required. The unit is easy to install as the back of the housing has several holes which fit different types of mounting requirements: Option 1 The unit can be fitted directly onto the mast access door from the rear. Option 2 If it is impossible to install the screws from the rear. OPTI 1 1. Remove mast access panel 2. Thread the cable through the panel 3. Screw the unit onto the panel from the rear of the panel, using M screws 4. Connect the cable to the mast terminals as shown below 5. Replace the access panel with the unit fitted. Remove the top cover of the unit 7. Test and, if required, adjust the signal, p.. Install relief symbols and direction indicator, see page 4 9. Install top cover. CABLE CNECTIS OPTI 2 1. Remove the top cover 2. Remove the snap-on terminal from the electronics 3. Slide out the electronic module and front panel 4. Push the LED protective lens up. The mounting holes are now accessible 5. Thread the cable into the mast. Connect the housing onto the mast 7. Replace the electronic module in reverse order from points 2-5. Connect the cable to the mast terminals as shown below 9. Test and, if required, adjust the signal, p. 10. 4 FITTING RELIEF SYMBOLS AND DIRECTI INDICATOR Purpose These symbols have been designed specifically to allow people with impared vision to identify the type of intersection and in which direction to walk. Placing The relief symbols should always be placed facing the walkway. The decorative panel should be placed on the opposite side, facing the zebracrossing with the vertical stripes outward. If the unit is placed on a median/ island there should be decorative panels on both sides. The exception to this is if the median is so wide that there is a path or bicycle lane running through it. If this is the case, then relief symbols should be fitted to indicate the type of traffic that could be expected (relief symbols should never be used on the bicycle path signal). Fitting relief symbols The housing has slots for the relief symbols and decorative panels, and they are secured by the top and bottom cover. There are 7 different symbols and 3 plain pieces of different lengths to assure that the slot in the acoustic signal is always full and the symbols are held solidly in place. The number of symbols required depends on the type of traffic lanes at the crossing. The START and END symbols must always be included. These symbols give people with impared vision a picture of the intersection and the direction of the crossing. Therefore it s crucial that they must be turned and positioned absolutley correct. The START symbol, nr 1, should always be at the bottom and then the different symbols necessary are inserted in their respective order. The END symbol, nr 7, should always be at the top. Double-check the position of the relief symbols! See description below. IMPORTANT! Always check where the acoustic pedestrian signal is placed: If i.e. a bicycle path is located parallel to the walkway but you need to cross it to come to the acoustic pedestrian signal, the symbol bicycle path should of course not be included in the relief symbols because the bicycle path has already been crossed. Fitting direction indicator The direction indicator is fitted on the top cover and must be aligned in the correct direction. A double arrow is used on units placed on a median. The indicator is fitted into the circular recess on the top cover and held in place with the provided waterproof silicone. Apply silicone into the recess. Screw the indicator down into position and make sure that it points in the correct direction. Remove any excess silicone. RELIEF SYMBOLS DESCRIPTI 7. Gives a 3 sec relay closing time OPTI VIBRATOR The direction indicator (top or bottom) incorporates a vibro-tactile function to help disabled pedestrians to feel when to cross, available for top or bottom cover. Vibrator in the bottom cover can be combined with a demand function with prolonged relay closing time. The pulse follows DIP switch setting, see page 7. SECURITY The Prisma Daps TS-900 Series controls and supervises its own performance. If voltage over 50 V on both red and green phases is detected, the signal will switch off and a red error LED behind the protection lens will light, for quick detection by service personnel. 5

6 ADJUSTMENTS OF ACOUSTICS FIRMWARE 1.23 The acoustic output automatically follows the ambient traffic noise. The basic calibration is factory preset. Sound level adjustment for the ambient noise control is possible with DIPSwitch no 2 and, please see page 7. All dba numbers are based on sound no. 5. Additional adjustments may be done by the two switches regulating minimum and maximum sound level (MIN, MAX), in the range of 55-3 dba. MIN-Switch Adjusts the minimum output level in 10 steps: Number 0: 55 dba Number 9: 3 dba MAX-Switch Adjusts the maximum output level in 10 steps. Number 9: 3 dba Number 0: 55 dba If MIN and MAX switches are set at an equal number, there will be no change in speaker output. SOUND-Switch The TS-903, 904, 907 and 90 has 10 different sound characteristics to choose from. This switch is used to select the desired sound. All units installed in the same walking direction should have the same signal characteristics. Sometimes it is helpful to choose different sounds for different walking directions. PULSE-Switch Pulse frequency is factory preset according to order, but may be changed with the switch below the Sound-Switch (not visible in picture). If a vibrator is installed it doesn t work during the highest pulses Power supply from 75/750 och up.
