2 FEATURES Intumescent coating which is manufactured by Mov Limited is removable type. Thickness of intumescent material is 15 mm, reinforced with wire mesh in mid depth, to enhance its performance and protects the valve actuator for 30 minutes against hydrocarbon pool fire. Based on this design capabilities, the valve actuator is not required to be sent to factory for coating any more. The intumescent coating can be installed on site for existing actuators without any modification of the actuator. The design of the intumescent coating comes in the form of 4 or 5 sections and assembled / secured with external fixing screws supplied by Mov Limited. The final painting used on the intumescent coating is an approved paint meant for the protection against UV rays. 3 THICKNESS Average 15 mm PERFORMANCE PROPERTIES The intumescent coating is in a solid state. Until and when in contact with fire the intumescent coating (coating surface) is converted into a highly viscous liquid. The intumescent coating then react and the reaction combines combustion of the epoxy and gas liberation. This result in an expansion up to 8 times the initial thickness. The expansion is to form a low density, carbonaceous insulation char. The layer of char absorbs a large part of the heat generated by the fire, thus maintaining the actuator and its internal parts within the critical temperature limit under the hydrocarbon fire. APPLICATION Electric actuators Pneumatic actuators Junction box TEST CRITERIA UL1709 is rapid rise fire tests of protection materials. The time-temperature fire curve of UL1709 is severe hydrocarbon fire which is possible to occure in refinery and petrochemical plants. The valve actuator should be maintain his operation for 30 minutes under UL1709 hydrocarbon fire. UL1709 time-temperature fire curve is shown below.

4 FEATURES PUSHBUTTON/LAMP Access door is provided for easy access to pushbutton switches and indication lamps. During normal operation, the operator can access the pushbutton by simply opening the access door. TERMINAL BLOCK Separate fireproofing cover is assembled in terminal block side for easy access to terminal block. It is not necessary to remove all or whole part of intumescent coating during connection of power including installation of control cables. MANUAL HANDWHEEL Manual hand wheel and Hand/Auto declutch lever are located on the exterior of intumescent coating. This is for the operator to operate it quickly during emergency condition/situation. THRUST BASE Separate intumescent coating is provided for thrust base. No additional work is required during assembly of actuator to valve body. SOLENOID AND LIMITED SWITCH Control units of pneumatic actuator are located inside of fireproofing enclosure. Access door is provided for monitoring and operation of the control units.

5 PAINT Primer is applied prior to final painting on the intumescent coating. In order to prevent chemical reaction, only approved paint is applied/used on the intumescent coating. Factory standard final color is grey. But customer s requirement can be also be considered. INSTALLATION The intumescent coating compose of various parts like, PCB cover, Motor cover and terminal cover. They are assembled / installed together with SS304 fixing screw. To prevent any damages, the intumescent coatings are separately packed. Anybody can assemble/install the intumescent coating in their facility prior to shipment, This includes actuator factory, valve factory or on site. LIFE TIME No major maintenance is required for intumescent coating. Only requirement is the maintenance of the surface painting due to decoloration. Factory only suggest the use of approved paint for this application.

6 ADVANTAGE Light weight Can be installed on existing actuator. No modification is required of the actuator. Easy for installation and removal. No special tool is required. Installation space is not required. Can be re-used in the event of actuator replacement. Even though motor damaged, re-coating is not required. Excellent finishes in decorative grade. Separate storing of intumescent coating is possible. against damage during erection of valve/actuator.
