INSTALLATION WARNINGS WARNING: TigerStop Products must be installed in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Only personnel properly trained in the safe design and installation of automation machinery and related power equipment should install TigerStop Products onto other equipment, to ensure a safe and proper work station. TigerStop Products should not be operated without proper training, both in the operation of TigerStop Products, and in the operation of related equipment. IMPORTANT CAUTION: The motor box (compartment) contains DC voltage with potentially FATAL amperage. NEVER attempt any unauthorized actions inside the motor box. WARNING: Using a TigerStop interconnect does not relieve you of the responsibility for making sure that your saw or other tool has all the necessary safety equipment in place. All installations must meet all legally required safety requirements and guidelines. Installation and training should be done following the recommendations of a qualifi ed safety engineer. INTERCONNECTS OPERATION DANGER: This machine can start, move and stop automatically. Keep hands and loose clothing clear of moving parts while operating. Moving parts can crush and cut. When used with a saw or other cutting equipment, bodily injury and death may result if operated without safety guards on all machines. Do not operate with guards removed. Operators must wear adequate eye and ear protection. DANGER! Don t get pinched by the push feeder. Keep your hands away when in motion! 3

Do not use TigerStop machines in a dangerous environment. Using power tools in damp or wet locations or in rain can cause shock or electrocution. Do not operate near fl ammable liquids or in gaseous or explosive atmospheres! Wear proper apparel, no loose clothes, long hair or jewelry which could get pulled into moving machinery or materials. Wear non slip footwear, safety glasses, ear protection and a dust mask. Use only 3- wire extension cords that have 3-prong grounding type plugs and 3-pole receptacles that accept the tools plug for 120VAC. Use only 5-wire cords and plugs when using 3 phase. Do not open motor compartment or controller keypad. DC Voltage with potentially FATAL amperage! Disconnect power before servicing. No user-serviceable parts inside. DO NOT operate this or any machine under the infl uence of drugs or alcohol! No one should operate this machine except for fully qualifi ed personnel. 4 Read the manual!

6 AIK2 Mounting Safety Box Considerations when Mounting Ensure all cables can reach the Safety Box. Do not mount in a high vibration area. Do not mount near liquids or fluids. Kill Line Mount Switch to Table 1. Place the kill line switch up against the face of your tools table. 2. Insert a center punch into the mounting holes and mark the table. 3. Using a 5/32 inch drill bit, drill out the marks. 4. Tap the holes using a tap. 5. Screw the switch to the table using the supplied hardware. 6

7 Mount Tension Plate Attach Cable Connect the red kill line to the kill line switch and the kill line tension bracket as shown. The kill line switch must be under tension to be reset. Too much tension or too little tension on the rope will trigger the switch. 1. Tighten the nuts on the tension plate eye bolt. 2. When the black indicator is in the middle of the green stripe, the switch is properly tensioned. 7

8 Mount Sensors The AIK2 kit uses magnetic sensors to tell TigerStop when the tool is not cycling (Tool at Rest sensor) and when the tool is at the peak of its stroke (Tool at Extension sensor). The exact mounting location of these sensors will be unique for each tool. You will want to mount the sensors so that they are triggered by any piece of metal that moves with the tool as it cycles. Knowing how the sensors work with the tool will help you determine a mounting location. The sensors follow a specific set of instructions when the tool cycles. If the sensors trigger in the wrong order, Tiger- Stop will go into an E-stop. During a tool cycle... TigerStop will give the tool the signal to cycle. The tool will come off and deactivate the Tool at Rest sensor. The tool will reach and activate the Tool at Extension sensor at the peak of the tool stroke. TigerStop will give the tool the signal to do the return stroke. The tool will come off and deactivate the Tool at Extension sensor. The tool will reach and activate the Tool at Rest sensor. Assemble Sensor Bracket 8

9 Attach Bracket to Tool 1. Mount the assembled sensor bracket to your tool. You may need to drill and tap into your tool to mount the bracket. Note: Ensure the bracket follows the path of the tool before mounting. 2. Adjust the sensors so that they are within.250 inches of the metal they are sensing. Then tighten them to the sensor bracket. 10 AIK2 Safety Wiring Wiring into the Tool E-stop Switch From To Labeled ESTOP BUTTON Leads Safety Box Tool E-Stop Switch From Tool Safety Chain The AIK ESTOP Button wire will connect to two sets of dry contacts on your tool E-stop switch. If your tool does not have two dry contacts, you may need to add further contact blocks or replace the switch. Note: You must wire to dry contacts on your E-stop switch. Never connect power to the AIK2 ESTOP Button wire! 1. Connect the M12 connector on the ESTOP Button wire to the AIK2 Safety Box plug labeled From Tool Safety Chain. 2. Access the tool E-stop switch wiring block. Note: Always follow proper lockout/tag out procedures when working on any piece of equipment. TigerStop strongly recommends that a qualified electrician perform the installation and testing of the safety chain connections. 3. Connect the BLUE wire from the ESTOP Button cable to one of the dry contacts of the E-stop switch. 4. Connect the WHITE wire from the ESTOP Button cable to the opposite dry contact of the E-stop switch. 5. Connect the BLACK wire from the ESTOP Button cable to one side of the second set of dry contacts. 6. Connect the BROWN wire from the ESTOP Button cable to the opposite dry contact. Note: The wires cannot be tied together. The AIK2 system will not function if the E-stop circuit is bypassed. 7. Return the E-stop switch to its original location. Wiring into the Tool Start/Stop Circuit From To Labeled STOP CIRCUIT Safety Box To Tool Stop Tool Start/Stop Circuit Leads The AIK Stop Circuit wire will connect in series with your tools start/stop circuit. This will allow the AIK2 kill line switch to remove power from the tool. Note: This connection is rated for 240V at 6A. Do NOT exceed this rating! 10

11 1. Connect the M12 connector on the Stop Circuit wire to the AIK2 Safety Box To Tool Stop plug. 2. Wire the BLUE and BLACK wire from the Stop Circuit cable in series with your tools start/stop circuit. Note: Always follow proper lockout/tag out procedures when working on any piece of equipment. TigerStop strongly recommends that a qualified electrician perform the installation and testing of the safety chain connections. AIK2 Pneumatic Connections Plumb the Solenoid Valve A B The AIK2 pneumatic kit allows TigerStop to cycle pneumatically controlled tools. If your tool is electronically cycled, you will not install the pneumatic kit. 1. Assemble the fittings and mufflers to the solenoid valve as shown. 2. Locate the main air cylinder that cycles your tool. Note: Always follow proper lockout/tag out procedures when working on any piece of equipment. Air Input 3. The cylinder will have a port that cycles the tool and a port that returns the tool from the cycle. Identify these ports. 4. Connect port A of the solenoid valve to the cylinder port that cycles the tool. 5. Connect port B of the solenoid valve to the cylinder port that returns the tool from its cycle. 6. Connect the Air Input of the solenoid valve to your air supply for the tool. Wire the Solenoid Valve 1. The solenoid valve has two wires (red and black). Locate these wires. 2. Locate the cable labeled Tool Start. 3. Connect the BROWN wired from Tool Start to the red solenoid valve wire. 4. Connect the BLACK wired from Tool Start to the black solenoid valve wire. Note: Always follow proper lockout/tag out procedures when working on any piece of equipment. 12 Final Connections Mount the I/O Panel Mounting Screws Considerations when Mounting Ensure all cables can reach the Safety Box. Do not mount in a high vibration area. Do not mount near liquids or fluids. Connect Controller and Amplifier 1. Connect the TigerStop controller to the I/O panel port labeled Controller. 2. 14 AIK2 Operation Resetting the System 1. Reset the tools E-stop switch. 2. Pull the blue knob of the kill line switch until it clicks and stays out. The TigerStop and tool may now be powered up. Triggering an E-stop Trigger you tools E-stop switch as you normally do. Consult the users manual for further information. Pull the red kill line rope to trigger the kill line switch E-stop. Setting the TIK setting 1. Power up TigerStop and run the home routine. 2. At the Ready Screen, press the [Show] soft key to display more options. 3. Press the [Menu] soft key to access the menu select screen. 4. Enter the password and press [=]. Note: The default password is set tot he serial number of TigerStop. 5. At the menu select screen, press the button to view the second menu selection screen. 6. Press the [Sys Info] soft key to access the system information menu. 7. Press the button to scroll through the menu options. Stop when you get to the Set TIK setting. 8. Press the [B] or [C] soft key to scroll thorough the Set TIK options. Choose Advanced or Full Auto. Note: Which option you choose depends on how you want to use your TigerStop system. If you have questions, contact TigerStop Customer Service Press the [Done] soft key to save the parameter.
