We hope that it gives you many years of service. The Pyramid is available as a standard unit pictured below or as a series of multi-part units to create a larger rooflight (bespoke option). The Pyramid is available with a range of glazing options incorporating double glazed units. Should you have any queries beyond this manual please do not hesitate to contact us. Figure 1 Electric Pyramid

Revised 20 th Jan 14 Page 3 of 15 Controls and Operation Control switch: Status light The standard operation is via the supplied wall switch (figure 2) and can be operated using two different methods as explained below: Figure 2 Control switch 1. One touch operation Press and release the control switch in either the up or down (open/closed) direction as required. The rooflight will open or close fully. Press the control again to stop the rooflight if you want it partly open or closed. 2. Conventional hold operation Press and hold the control switch until the rooflight has reached the position you want, When you release the switch the rooflight will stop in that position. If you continue to press the switch the rooflight will stop when it becomes either fully open or closed. Status light: The status light will illuminate green if the rooflight is working normally. If the status light displays another colour please refer to the troubleshooting section on page 8. Remote Control (Optional): The remote control (figure 3) is available as an optional extra. The remote control unit works in the same way as the control switch but allows you to open and close your rooflight from a short range. The remote control is powered by one long life CR-2450 battery and has Shake to wake operation. The unit will switch to a sleep mode after a short period of not being used to conserve battery power. To replace the battery, remove the small Phillips screw found on the rear of the remote to allow access inside (please note there is a free end wire antenna coiled within the remote). 4 GV Standard Electric Pyramid Manual Revised 20th Jan 14 Page 4 of 15 Building management (Optional): The Pyramid can be connected to building management systems. Please contact Glazing Vision Ltd for further details if required. Rain Sensor Operation Rain sensor (optional): The rain sensor (figure 4) is available as an optional extra which will automatically close the rooflight if it rains. A special sensor means the rooflight can tell the difference between rain and standing water and a built in heater, which operates when the rooflight is opened, will operate for 60 seconds to evaporate any standing water. If water is still detected after 60 seconds the rooflight will automatically close again. Figure 4 Rain sensor Manual Override The Pyramid is equipped with a manual override function. This is an emergency fail safe should the unit not open or close for any reason. The override holes are located on the inside of the unit approximately 320mm from the opening edge (figure 7). Override plug/hole each side Figure 7 Manual override location, pyramid not shown

Revised 20 th Jan 14 Page 5 of 15 To override the electric mechanism, the cover caps for the override holes should be removed (these are just press fit plugs); insert a 5mm Allen key (supplied with the rooflight) through the hole and engage with the cap head bolts (figure 7). Override bolt Figure 8 Manual override bolt location Support the weight of the lid and unscrew the bolts by turning anti-clockwise. Once both override bolts have been removed the main link arm will be free to move within the Pyramids slide channel. With both override bolts removed the lid will open approximately 130mm at the opening edge. Alternatively, the lid will now be able to be put into the fully closed position (the unit should be water tight, however it will not be mechanically locked). To open the lid for access once the override pins have been removed, it is advised that you prop open the units lid (it is important to use soft wood so that no damage is caused to the aluminium extrusion). At the end of each of the link arms is a hexagon head pivot pin (figure 9) screwed into the sliding shoe, these can then be unscrewed using a 13mm spanner to free the lid. Pivot pin Figure 9 Manual disconnect

Revised 20 th Jan 14 Page 6 of 15 With the lid no longer supported by the mechanisms, it is important that you support the lid to avoid damage to any part of the Pyramid. Please do not open the lid past 90 degrees, otherwise the lid will disengage from its extruded hinge and become detached from the base frame. If your Pyramid has failed please contact Glazing Vision Ltd for further assistance. We recommend that only one of our qualified Service Engineers maintain your rooflight. Cleaning the Pyramid Due to the Pyramids unique bonding method and the slight pitch built into the kerb, there should be no water ponding on the glass when installed correctly. Any standard glasscleaning product can be used to clean the glass unit. However take care not to use abrasive materials or cleaners as this may affect the unit and its finish. The framework of the unit can be cleaned using warm soapy water with a soft lint free cloth. Glazing Vision Remote Control As stated previously the remote control is an optional item, and is only available for use with electric versions of Pyramid. In order to preserve the battery, the remote control will switch itself off after a brief period of inactivity. It will switch itself on when picked up. This is indicated by an LED on the remote control. Any given remote control can be paired with multiple Pyramids. Any given Pyramid will pair with a maximum of four remote controls. This section explains how to pair a remote to your Pyramid, how to delete a remote from your Pyramid, and how to clear the memory of the Pyramid to delete all remote controls. To add a remote, delete a remote or to clear memory, wipe the magnet (as supplied by Glazing Vision) over the GV logo on the wall mounted control switch. The LED will now flash red and blue alternatively for 15 seconds. figure 12 Wall mounted control switch with magnet

Revised 20 th Jan 14 Page 7 of 15 To add a remote: Press the OPEN button on the remote control during the 15 second period. The LED will stop flashing if pairing is successful. If the LED continues to flash this means that either the remote is already paired to this Pyramid, the memory is full (ie the Pyramid is already paired with four remote controls) or the remote is faulty. To delete a remote: Press the CLOSE button on the remote control during the 15 second period. The LED will stop flashing if deletion is successful. If the LED continues to flash this means that the remote is not paired to this Pyramid and therefore cannot be deleted. To clear the Pyramid memory: Press and hold the OPEN or CLOSE button for 2 seconds during the 15 second period. This will delete all remote controls from memory, and will add this remote to memory.

Revised 20 th Jan 14 Page 8 of 15 Troubleshooting The Pyramid control board monitors the operation of the vent. If a fault is detected, the Board will disable the vent to prevent possible damage. Fault and standard conditions are indicated by the status light on the control switch (figure 12). The following table shows the various status light displays and their meanings: Status light shown: Continuous Green Intermittent Green Continuous Blue Intermittent Blue Meaning: Displayed whilst rooflight is in motion with no faults present. If rooflight is one-touch opened or closed LED will remain lit until motion stops. Flashes whilst rooflight closes due to rain sensor. Flashing will stop when motion stops. Indicates an IO fault, ie a mechanism timing fault. LED remains lit and control switch is disabled until control board is reset. Indicates an overcurrent or undercurrent condition. Flashes and control switch is disabled until control board is reset. If a fault occurs please refer to the table over page. Some faults with the unit may be easily corrected without the need for a site engineer, however if you are unsure, please contact Glazing Vision Ltd. Some faults can be cleared by resetting the board. To reset the system switch off mains power briefly then switch the power back on again. In some cases the Pyramid will now operate as normal. In other cases the fault will re-occur, if so, please contact Glazing Vision Ltd. Problem Possible Cause Action Overcurrent Fault (Blue light) Input/Output Fault (Blue light flashing) Pyramid closes for no apparent reason. Is there a mechanical obstruction preventing the lid from moving? Is the lid frozen to the base? Has the vent been left inactive for a long period (a month or longer)? There is a problem with one of the mechanisms. This should only occur if a rain sensor is fitted and indicates that the sensor head is dirty or still wet. If possible, look at the mechanisms and remove any obvious obstructions. Attempt to open the vent once ice has melted. An overcurrent fault is likely after a long period of inactivity. Reset vent and try again. Switch off the power. Contact Glazing Vision for further assistance. Open Pyramid and isolate power supply, then clean the rain sensor head.

Revised 20 th Jan 14 Page 9 of 15 Standard Glass Specification and Breakage Instructions Glass Specification The standard glass used within the Pyramid comprises a 6mm toughened outer pane, a 16mm argon filled silicone sealed cavity and a 6mm soft coat Low E coated toughened inner pane. The properties of the standard unit are listed in the table below: PROPERTY VALUE Light Transmittance 74.5% Light Reflectance 11.3% Shading Coefficient TOTAL 0.70 U Value 1.2 W/m 2 K Sound Insulation 33 db Mass 30 Kg/m 2 Breakage Instructions Should the double glazed unit break for any reason, due to the unique method of bonding the glass unit into the frame, a new lid would need to be supplied. Glass breakage is not covered in the product warranty unless the breakage is a direct result of Glazing Vision Limited or its product failing. In the event of the glass being damaged please contact Glazing Vision for assistance.

Revised 20 th Jan 14 Page 10 of 15 General Maintenance & Safety To keep the Pyramid in good working order there are a few basic points that should be observed: Do not place anything on the lid or cause obstruction to the lid of the Pyramid when opening the unit as this may cause damage to the unit s mechanisms. Do not walk on the unit Apply grease to each of the mechanism lead screw threads every 200 cycles / 3 months which ever is first (or as necessary) Make sure fingers and other obstructions are clear of the vent before closing the unit (although there is a circuit board overload cut out, severe damage/injury may be caused). Do not touch the motors after operating the unit, as they will become hot. It is recommended that a general inspection is carried out on the unit wherever possible at least once every 6 months. Glazing Vision, if required, can offer a service / maintenance contract. Please contact our office for further details. Do not remove the Plastic cover plate protecting the Printed Circuit Board, as this may allow the PCB to become damaged. Keep the frame clear of general dirt and debris particularly around the opening mechanism.

Revised 20 th Jan 14 Page 11 of 15 COSHH and Safe Disposal There are no hazardous materials used in the construction of the Pyramid. Wherever possible when disposing of the Pyramid recycle as much as possible. Do not burn any plastic materials.
