Volumetric Filling Ultrasonic cutting Peeling Equipment Conveyor Door PACKAGING Filling Machine Custom designed high force corrosion resistant actuator for volumetric filling. A food-grade white epoxy paint RSA is used in ultrasonic food cutting in two directions. A custom caliper disc brake made of 316 stainless steel to resist corrosion. Cleaning a section of the high speed pizza conveying machinery near the waste removal door powered by the B3W10. Modular bagging system fills and seals a wide range of materials and bag sizes. Electric replacement for pneumatic lift that required frequent fine tuning to achieve position & speed. A designer and manufacturer of volumetric filling equipment wanted to deploy electric actuators to improve performance and minimize product waste. The challenge was to provide an electric actuator that could meet the demanding force, speed and duty cycle requirements with stainless steel construction and 69K protection. An entirely custom electric actuator was developed by Tolomatic. The round bodied actuator is made from 316 stainless steel that made it ideal for a wash down operating environment. In addition, Tolomatic deployed high force and long life roller screw technology, heavy duty bearings, corrosion resistant seals and adapted the actuator motor mount to the customer s choice of wash down motor. A manufacturer of ultrasonic cutting equipment used in bakeries was looking for an electric solution to replace their current pneumatic process. Multiple sizes of bakery products needed to be cut with speed and in multiple positions. They were looking for a food-grade white epoxy paint actuator and required a fast delivery. Tolomatic used an RSA actuator with a food-grade epoxy painted surface and stainless steel rod and fastener components. The actuator provided the necessary positioning requirements for the bakery goods. In addition to the RSA, a food-grade epoxy paint B3W belt drive actuator was used to meet speed requirements on the vertical knife axis. The result was fast, uniform and smooth cuts. Tolomatic's fast delivery kept production on schedule. The corrosive environment associated with this shrimp peeler causes standard brakes to fail in as little as two weeks. Using the same brake pad as our standard P20 pneumatic caliper disc brake, Tolomatic designed a housing and floating mount of stainless steel that could be efficiently manufactured as a drop in replacement for the off-the-shelf brake the customer had been using. With less maintenance, increased production and maximum brake life, this satisfied customer continues to look to Tolomatic for solutions for their most demanding applications. CUSTOM CALER DISC BRAKE A conveyor manufacturer needed to open and close a 6" door in about 1/2 second to support production of 180 units per minute. The actuator must hold up to washdown and cleaning chemicals. Tolomatic's B3W10 belt-drive actuator was modified with nickel plating and stainless steel fasteners in response to the cleaning chemicals and washdown environment requirements. Supplied 3D CAD files made it easy for the customer to engineer the B3W10 into their equipment. A leader in packaging technology was faced with the problem of compensating for inconsistent bag dimensions on its modular bag filling and sealing system. Irregularly sized bags required manual setup and were slowing the production process which required high-speed accuracy and flexibility. Tolomatic supplied a series of customized electric screw drive actuators that precisely positioned the incoming bags before insertion into the filling/sealing line. Two actuators adjust the vertical position and two others center the bags in the tray. The results: variations in bag lengths and widths are automatically compensated for eliminating filling, sealing and leakage problems and increasing production. Replace an optional pneumatic lift that moves the container as the dispense head fills it. The motion cycle included: extend at high speed, retract at slow speed as filling occurs, then retract at high speed when filling is complete. Tolomatic's standard SmartActuator ICR with reverse parallel motor mount and option fit perfectly within the application envelope and satisfied all the thrust and speed requirements. Tolomatic manufactured a custom rear flange to mate with the existing machinery resulting in a drop-in replacement for the pneumatic system. Nickel plated steel is used when greater torque strength is required than can be obtained with stainless steel fasteners. The nozzle is held 10 5 cm from the tested device at angles of 0, 30, 60 and 90 for 30s each. The test device sits on a turntable that rotates once every 12s (5rpm). WASHDOWN / INGRESS PROTECTION Food-grade White Epoxy Paint applied to all external components for corrosion resistance. Armaloy Coating of Steel Bearing Components: The steel bearing rails and associated components are plated with Armaloy. Contact Tolomatic for other components that can be treated with Armaloy coating. Stainless Steel Caps & Moisture Seals: When chosen for the Slide-Rite Gearbox the exterior has covers made of stainless steel with moisture seals that prevent ingress of moisture beyond the caps. Purge Port: Through this port air is added into the Tolomatic electric actuator. Positive air pressure exhausts air out through the small entry points, minimizing the potential of particulate ingress into the actuator. : Ingress Protection: First Digit = Solids, 6 = Dust Tight (No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact) Second Digit = Liquids, 5 = Water Jets (Water projected by a nozzle (6.3mm) against enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects.) : Ingress Protection: First Digit = Solids, 6 = Dust Tight (No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact) Second Digit = Liquids, 7 = Immersion up to 1 m (Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time up to 1 m of submersion). 69K: Ingress Protection: German standard DIN extends the IEC rating system described above with an 69K rating for high-pressure, high-temperature wash-down applications.[4] Such enclosures must not only be dust tight (6X), but also able to withstand high-pressure and steam cleaning. CAUSTIC RESISTANCE Electroless Nickel provides corrosion resistance.
