IMPORTANT Failure to comply will void warranty! Owner: Your installer is responsible for the correct installation level. The round-running level for the final floor level is the vertical tile frame of the cassette and NOT the temporary wood cover. This wood cover is only for protection during transport and installation. ATTENTION! The protection covering (wooden cover) must not be removed until the commissioning by a Rotarycertified expert takes place! 3 Content 1 General remarks Installation of the inground cassette Installation of the lifting cylinders Installation of the power unit Installation of the control Bleeding and adjustment of the cylinders Installation of the supports Test run and handing over Appendix: Error codes of control Appendix: DIP-Switches General remarks 1.1 Introduction The lifting device delivered together with this assembly instructions is according to the tested model. Therefore it would not be necessary for an approval before first use. However, there is no way to deliver the lifting platform ready to use. Therefore before the first putting in operation must be an examination by an expert. The correct working conditions include the faultless function of all security equipment. This installation instruction is for experts in the sense of the European Community (EG guideline 89/392/EWG, Appendix 1, including the changes of , 91/368/EWG). Experts are persons, who have expierience, formation and know-how on the field of lifting platforms and with the working security guidelines of the specific country. They have to know the accident avoiding guidelines and common technics to insure the safe working condition of lifting platforms. 1.2 Safety guidelines During the use of the lifting platform, the regulations and rules of accident prevention are to be considered fundamentally. Only properly trained and authorized operators shall be allowed to operate the lift. Unauthorized changes and modifications to the lifting platform relieve ROTARY from any liability for any damages and injuries that might result therefrom. Especially making inoperative or removal of the safety devices means a grave violation of the health and safety at work regulations. Burdens may only be included in accordance with the agreed use. The maximum capacity must not be exceeded (pay attention to any additional load). Installation Instructions ROTARY inground lifts SL230/SL235/SL250 Release: 11/2013 Page 3

1.3 Installation site The production-line lift is not equipped for the assembly in blast endangered rooms. The final placement has to be taken from the architect s plan. We recommend the workplace dimensions described in fig. 1. Fig Electrical connection Electrical connection and wiring is only allowed to be performed by an electro-technician with consideration of the VDE guidelines and the guidelines of the local energy supplier. For the electrical connection must be power supply with 3~/N+PE 400 volts, 50 Hz at installation site. The electrical fuse must be of quality T16 Amperes according to the German guideline VDE Feeding the supply occurs into the control box. If there are only 3~/N+PE 230 volts available, the lift must be especially adapted at circuit board and motor clamping. These adaptations are NOT included in this manual. You have to ask separately for these requirements! The power supply connection may only be supplied by an electro-technician. In this case a check of the protective earth with 10 Ampere and a high voltage check with 1000 Volt has to be carried out. This check has to be remarked in the testing book owners manual. 5 2. Installation of the inground cassette 2.1 Foundation plan Installation, adjustment and concrete of the in-ground cassette is described in detail in the respective foundation plan. Ensure before installation that you have the valid foundation plan. Model SL235MP, SL235RA, SL250RA, SL235S3, SL235DOP SL230RA-PE SL235BR, SL235BR-RA SL250BR-RA Foundation plan FP1335 FP1335* FP2285 * If the platform lifts have to be installed inground or inground together with floor level compensation you have to use different foundation plans! 2.2 Lifting into the cavity Table 1: Foundation plans To move the inground cassette into the cavity use either 2 eye screws or the auxiliary profiles together with a belt. The eye screws have to be fixed diagonally through wood cover and basic executions into the screw threads of the cassette. Use the inner threads of the basic executions (fig. 2, X ). In this case you can fix the auxiliary profiles at the outside later on. Now lift the inground cassette into the cavity using a suitable lifting device. 2.3 Inground installation options In general there are two main possibilities for inground installation (fig. 1 and 2). In principle it makes no difference if the cassette is empty or pre-assembled inclusice the complete hydraulic system inside (standard delivery). Do not forget the vacant pipe from the inground cassette towards the site of the control (see foundation plan). The connection between vacant pipe and the cassette must be water-tight! Don t cut the vacant pipe at the wall not at floor level to avoid penetration of water! Installation Instructions ROTARY inground lifts SL230/SL235/SL250 Release: 11/2013 Page 5

3. Installation of the lifting cylinders Fig. 4 Fixation of cellular polyethylene Fig. 5 Lifting with an eye screw If the in-ground cassette is not delivered "empty" for pre-installation, but "pre-assembled" inclusive cylinders, cross bar, hydraulic pump and potentiometer mechanism (standard), you don t have to perform the work in chapter 3 and 4. In this case please continue directly with chapter 5! 3.1 Check before start Please check before installation the correct and level building in of the lift box (+/-0 up to +3 mm to final floor level). The position of the control box must be out of the dangerous area and the lift must be observable at least at two sides. 3.2 Preparation of the empty cassette Take off the wooden cover from the installation cassette and remove the cross connection using an angle grinder. Check the room inside for cleanness, if necessary remove dirt and water. The frame of the installation cassette has to be clean so that the basic guides and the cover lies plane. First fix the self-adhesive cellular polyethylen on the cassettes frame (only necessary if the cassette was delivered empty ). Before putting in the cylinder units into the installation cassette the hydraulic hoses at the cylinders have to be retightened. The free end for the connection at the motor pump has to be fastened at the basic guides using cable ties. Installation Instructions ROTARY inground lifts SL230/SL235/SL250 Release: 11/2013 Page 7

3.3 Installation of the hydraulic cylinders Tighten the hydraulic hoses at the cylinder before mounting the hydraulic cylinders and fix the free end for the connection to the hydraulic unit temporarily on the basic executions with a cable tie as far as this hasn t been done already ex-works. Now install the hydraulic cylinders on the right and left side with the welded synchronization lever into the installation cassette. For best results use an eye screw M20 (models up to 3500 kg capacity) or M24 (models with capacity 5000 kg), which will be screwed into the cylinder (fig. 5). These screws are not contained in the scope of delivery. The piston rod has not to be fixed against falling out during handling because of the depression. It may go out only about 15 cm. Fix the eye screw not on the basic execution!. The hydraulic cylinder with the screwed on proximity switches prepared ex-works is to be installed at the right side in driving direction. After the lifting in screw in the socket head screw for fixation of the basic executions and tighten it lightly for the moment. 9 4. Installation of the power unit 4.1 Delivery situation If the inground cassette was not delivered empty, the hydraulic pump is completely pre-assembled inside the cassette inclusive fixation support, cables and tubes and hydraulic oil. The connectors for the hydraulic hoses are covered with a screw cap during transport. Furthermore, the pre-filled hydraulic pump is covered with a srew cap during transport to protect from running out the oil. 4.2 Fixation of the hydraulic pump Hang up the hydraulic unit into the side thread mounts of the in-ground cassette and attach with the screws (M10 with fixation teeth) contained in scope of delivery. Connect hydraulics hoses to the connections A and B of the hydraulic pump according hydraulic plan HP20410(standard power unit for all models (fig. 6). Fig. 6 Connections at power unit In principal it doesn t matter which hose is connected to which connection. But the hydraulic hoses have to hang free between synchronizing mechanism and outer wall of the installation cassette. 4.3 Remove transportation locking Remove screw cap (fig. 7; transportation locking) at the pump at the oil filler pipe and screw in enclosed ventilation screw (fig. 8). The ventilation screw is contained in scope of delivery inside the control box. Fig. 7: Screw cap (yellow) only for transport Fig. 8: Bleeder screw (red) for use the pump! It is not allowed to use the lift with transportation locking of the pump, because this can destroy Installation Instructions ROTARY inground lifts SL230/SL235/SL250 Release: 11/2013 Page 9

5. Installation of control 5.1 Site of installation and scope of delivery The control box has to be installed at the planned place corresponding to the vacant pipe preparation, in the ideal case at the left side of the front wall of the work station. The clear assignment of the control to the lift and the position of the operator outside the danger spot has always to be guaranteed. The fastening material (screws and dowels) and the main key are enclosed in the control box (fig. 9). Fig. 9 Scope of delivery of control (open box) 5.2 Electrical wiring The enclosed electrical plans (table 2) give information to lead which electrical wires through the vacant pipe and how to install the electrical connections. The electrical wires are normally already completely pre-assembled at works and connected at the power unit. The standard length of the cables is prepared to 8 m. The cable set consits of the following cables: Model Electric Plan Magic- Number SL235MP, SL235S3, SL235RA, SL230RA-PE SL250RA, SL235BR, EP SL235BR-RA, SL250BR-RA SL235DOP EP Table 2: Electric plans and magic-numbers of the control. All models except SL235DOP: 1. Motor cable (4 x 1,5 mm 2 ) 2. Valve cable (3 x 0,75 mm 2 ) 3. Proximity switch cable (3 x 0,25 mm 2 ) 4. Pneumatic hose ( 4 mm) Additional cables at SL235DOP: 5. Valve cable (4 x 0,75 mm 2 ) instead 3-wired 6. Lighting cable (3 x 0,75 mm 2 ) Installation Instructions ROTARY inground lifts SL230/SL235/SL250 Release: 11/2013 Page 10

5.3 Installation of pneumatic emergency system The pneumatic emergency system allows lowering of the lift in case of power failure. Also lead the delivered pneumatics hose 4x1 mm of the power unit through the empty tube to the control unit (already at works preassembled). Lead the pneumatic hose through the smallest cable gland there into the case and embed it onto the planned compressed-air inlet from the inside (fig. 10). 5.4 Adjustment of the proximity switches (NAMUR) Fig. 10 Connection of the pneumatic pipe The NAMUR-switches (inductive switches) are pre-adjusted completely at factory (fig. 11). Normally there is no use for further adjustment. Fig. 11: Both NAMUR-switches installed for use. Installation Instructions ROTARY inground lifts SL230/SL235/SL250 Release: 11/2013 Page 11

NAMUR-switch 1 is responsible for the upper lifting limitation. As soon as the switch reaches the level of the basic guide, the lifting will be stopped. This guarantees that the lift doesn t run against the basic guides. The distance between the surface of this switch and the basic guide is only appr. 1-2 mm. This switch is pre-adjuseted ready for use. NAMUR-switch 2 is responsible for the CE-Stop (audible signal) appr. 120 mm above ground level. This switch runs along a switch rod. As soon as the switch reaches the level of the plastic part of the rod the lowering is interrupted. This switch is pre-adjusted ready for use. Modification of the level at site is not possible! The cables of both NAMUR-switches are fixed to the hydraulic hoses with cable ties. Fig. 12: Both NAMUR-switches are wired at factory within the motor pump clamping box ready for use. Both ends of the cables are clamped within the clamping box of the motor pump ready for use (fig. 12). A shielded cable (3x0,25 mm 2 ) connects both switches from the clamping box to the control box. 5.5 Turn on control Now turn on the control switching the main key at the control box from position 0 to position 1. After an initialization period with acoustic signals the green LED temporarily signs the correct function of the lift (operation mode). Immediately after this the control changes to the stand-by-mode indicated by an orange LED. A short single press to the middle, round function button switches the control back to the operation mode again (green LED). After approx. 20 seconds without any use the control automatically returns to the stand-by-mode again (orange LED). Concerning the software all necessary parameters and settings are done at factory and the control is normally prepared for use without further adjustments. If necessary you can modify the parameters choosing the suitable magic-number via the DIP-switches on the circuit board. 5.6 Error reports of control In case of an error or trouble the electronic control reports it acoustically (signal tone) as well as optically (the now red LED blinks). The error reports are coded by a sequence of long or short tones (LED signals). The long signals establish tens unit digits while the short signals show the single digits. We refer to the enclosed list of error codes for an explanation of the various error codes. Installation Instructions ROTARY inground lifts SL230/SL235/SL250 Release: 11/2013 Page 12

5.7 Service mode Alternatively the lift can also be used with the service plug in the service mode. Please note that in this case all security devices are switched off! The service plug is only available from a service technician. In any case the service plug must be removed after service works. It is not allowed to use the lift with service plug for standard works! Alternatively you can also switch the control into the service mode also using the service button (fig. 13). This happens by a single press on the service button which is located beside the DIP-switches on the circuit board. After a software-defined period the control automatically returns to operation mode again. This happens also if you switch off and on the control by key. Fig. 13: The service button is located on top of the circuit board beside the red DIP-switch row. Installation Instructions ROTARY inground lifts SL230/SL235/SL250 Release: 11/2013 Page 13

6. Bleeding and adjustment of the cylinders Clean the area around the piston exit with compressed air thoroughly prior to the first piston movement!! 6.1 Starting-up the hydraulic unit After the electrical connection is completed the lift will hydraulically be lifted up appr. 50 cm by pressing symbolic UP button. If the control is in the meantime in the stand-by-mode first once press the middle, round function button to activate the control again. 6.2 Bleeding of hydraulic circuit Now open both bleeding screws of the hydraulic cylinders in the middle of the forehead plate (fig. 14) three turns until the hydraulic oil escapes bulrush freely. Now lower the lift to the ground. While doing this simultaneously press the middle round-shaped button and the lower arrow button lowering. Now control the hydraulic oil level in the hydraulic unit. If necessary fill up the oil to the trailing edge of the filler hole. Fig. 14 Bleeding screw (arrow) at the head plate of the cylider To fill up please use only hydraulic oil HLP Adjusting the synchronization mechanism Drive lift up to the upper stop position. The mobile middle piece of the synchronization mechanism is to be inserted first into one of the two synchronization levers and then moved back into the other synchronization lever. Centre position is fixed and secured when a screw M12 is screwed in into the tapped hole (fig. 15). Installation Instructions ROTARY inground lifts SL230/SL235/SL250 Release: 11/2013 Page 14

Fig. 15 Middle piece of synchronization mechanism 6.4 Arrange cylinders Drive up cylinders to appr. 80 cm. Control both cylinders by using a spirit level if they are perpendicular. Where appropriate, underlay the basic executions with suitable metal strips. For this purpose, remove the screws of the basic execution and hoist it approx. 10 cm. After underlaying the metal strips screw together the basic executions and control again if it is perpendicular. If necessary repeat this process several times. With the models SL235BR and SL250BR-RA we strongly recommend to mount the two cylinders slightly outwards! We recommend about 2-3 cm outwards at the top of the cylinders when lifted completely. 6.5 Installation of the cover and sealing Remove the plastic foil from the surface of the cover. Put the cover carefully between the basic guides and take care that the cover bears on completely. Then seal the lift between the cassettes frame and the basic guides resp. the cover using the profiled rubber. Additionally tighten the profiled rubbers at their ends using silicone. 16 7. Installation of the supports 7.1 SL235MP Raise the lift for appr. 1 m. Put the pre-assembled flat carriers parallely on the cylinders and fix it with the cylindric screws M20x50. Then test, whether the support plate is slightly adjustable and the setscrews for limit of the maximum departing lengths are screwed in. The setscrews avoid the support plates from pulling from the flat carriers. You can improve the sliding of the cross plates using spray oil. 7.2 SL235RA und SL250RA Raise the lift for appr. 1 m. Lift the carrier plate on the cylinder. The carrier plate are orientated outwards from the cylinders. Then fix it with the cylindric screws M20x50 (model SL235RA) resp. M24x60 (model SL250RA). Defer slide with swivel arms onto carrier plate and screw in setscrews if not pre-assembled ex works. After that please check if all moveable parts (carrier plate, swivel arms, extension arms etc.) are easy to move and correctly locking. In the down position the swivel arms must unlock automatically. 17 7.3 SL235S3, SL235BR-RA and SL250BR-RA Raise the lift for appr. 1 m. Lift the pre-assembled supports on the cylinder and fix it with the cylindric screws M20 (S2 and S3) resp. M24 (BR-RA). After that please check if all moveable parts (swivel arms, extension arms) are easy to move and the limiting positions are correctly locking. Further check that both girders are orientated parallely. 7.4 SL235BR Raise the lift for appr. 1 m. Lift the pre-assembled girder on the cylinder and fix it with the cylindric screws M20x75. After that please check if all moveable parts (girder, swivel arms, extension arms etc.) are easy to move and the limiting positions are correctly locking. Further check that both girders are orientated parallely. The swivel arms of model SL235BR do not unlock automatically in down position. The arms have to be unlocked manually. 18 7.5 SL235DOP The drive-on-platforms of the SL235DOP are completely pre-assembled. For screwing the drive-on-platforms onto the lifting cylinders first remove the round cover in the middle of drive-on-platform to get access to the screws. Then lay down the drive-on-platforms on the right and left side of the lifting cylinders. Best you use for this a lifting device. Now lift the drive-on-platform onto the cylinders, screw in the hexagon-screws M20 and screw it up lightly for the moment. The drive-on-platform is now ready for the hydraulical lifting and lowering. Now install the lighting system. Therefore push the cables through the cable pipe ( 33,6). Raise the lift to the upper position and insert the wire pipe inclusive the lighting cable from the bottom into the opening at the basic guides. Next put a srewed disk onto the thread of the wire pipes. Then put the wire pipe with the upper thread part M33x1.5 through the opening of the platform ground plate and counter with a second screwed disk. The cables now protrude appr. 20 cm out of the platform ground plate. Pull the cables until they reach the connection points. Connect the lighting-wire at the clamping box. Now connect the electrical wires at the connection plugs of the control (see electrical wiring plan). Raise the lift and fix the platforms on the cylinders with the hexagonal screws M20 tightly. The distance between wire pipe and cylinder self-adjustes when lowering the first time SL235DOP-ALU The drive-on-platforms of the Alu Track Lift are completely pre-assembled. First raise up the lift 60 cm. Then push the carrierplates onto the cylinders and screw in the hexagon-screws M20 and screw it with 450 Nm respectively M24 with 580 Nm. In the front of the lift assemble the 350 mm long steel plates and in the back of the lift use the 2000 mm long steel plates. Now for screwing the drive-on-platforms onto the steel plates screw the hexagon-screws M10 (frontside) and M12 (backside) to the bottom of the drive on platform into the sliding blocks. The drive-on platform is now ready for the hydraulical lifting and lowering (according hydraulic plan HP20410). Now install the integrated lighting system. Therefore push the cables through the cable pipe ( 33,6). Raise the lift to the upper stop position and insert the wire pipe inclusive the lighting cable from the bottom into the opening at the basic guides. Next put a screwed disk onto the thread of the wire pipes. Then put the wire pipe with the upper thread part M33x1.5 through the opening of the platform ground plate and counter with a second screwed disk. The cables now protrude appr. 20 cm out of the platform ground plate. Pull the cables until they reach the connection points. Connect the lighting-wires at the clamping box of both platforms. Now connect the electrical wires at the connection plugs of the control (see electrical wiring plan EP20336). Raise the lift and fix the platforms on the cylinders with the hexagonal screws M20 tightly. The distance between wire pipe and cylinder self-adjustes when lowering the first time. 20 8. Test run and handing over 8.1 Operational test Drive the lift several times up and down and test proper function. Test all hydraulic connections for tightness and tighten up. Activate emergency lowering function with air pistol and test lowering operation. Purge again hydraulic cylinder until the oil escapes bulrush freely. Slope cylinders completely and fill oil level onto maximum state. Protect hydraulic pump and all fittings in the installation cassette with wax spray against moisture. grease. Check the valve plugs on the hydraulic unit for humidity and protect against humidity using hydrophobic Check the sealing at the foundation frame for cleanness and correct position. 8.2 Seal cover plate Now insert cover plate and then seal the installation cassette between the frames and basic executions and/or cover plate with the enclosed seal rubber. Employ some silicone in addition at the joints of the seal rubbers to avoid humidity coming in. For use in car wash or outside replace the seal rubber between frame and cover/basic execution completely with elastic silicone. 8.3 Fixation of labels Fix CE-sign and test sticker with country-specific time period at suitable site on the control box. Furthermore check the manufacturers plate on top of the control box for existance and legibility. 8.4 Owners manual Fill out the form Initial installation by an expert within the owners manual and send it back to BlitzRotary GmbH: FAX: ++49-(0) Complete the owners manual, sign it and hand it over to the owner. Demonstrate the operable lift the operator, carry out an introduction by using the operating manual and in particular explain the detailed operating manual.
