HOW TO RELEASE/ REATTACH BACK SUPPORT ACTUATOR AND GAS SPRING A RELEASE The back support suspension gas spring must be released prior to adjusting seat depth and/or back rest pivot point B C Remove armrests from chair. Release actuator extension tube (A) from rear actuator support plate (B). Note: there will be significant forward pressure from the gas spring. Allow back to rotate forward to full extension of gas spring Remove nut securing gas spring ball joint (C). Allow back to rotate fully forward and rest on seat. Seat depth and back pivot points can now be adjusted. 2

B REATTACHMENT Note: this step will require assistance to complete. After seat depth and/or pivot point adjustment follow these steps: FIRST, rotate backrest rearward to align gas spring with its mount and secure ball joint (A) in the appropriate position. A SECOND, exert rearward pressure on the backrest, compressing the gas spring until actuator extension tube (B) can be aligned and secured into rear actuator support plate appropriately by an assistant. The position at which you attach is dependent on the seat depth and pivot point position. 3

HOW TO ADJUST THE SEAT DEPTH The seat depth can be adjusted to compensate for varying leg lengths and other positioning needs. Release actuator and gas spring (see page 2). B A C Release screws (A) on plate and slide Rear screw fits in guide holes (B) to insure 1" increments Rear Actuator Support Plate (C) is moved in a 1:1 ratio as above by releasing and repositioning fasteners. Note reversed position for shortest seat depths. Reattach actuator and gas spring (see page 3) unless you intend to adjust pivot point (see page 6) Seat Depth Range Standard Seat Frame: 14"-18" Long Seat Frame: 18"- 22" 4

HOW TO ADJUST BACKREST PIVOT POINT 6 The backrest pivot point can be adjusted to compensate for various cushion heights. There are four positions available: Standard, Standard +.75", Standard +1.5", Standard " A TO RAISE OR LOWER PIVOT POINT: Make note of the angle of backrest for later duplication, as well as the current and intended actuator and gas spring fastener positions for reference at end of procedure.all fasteners (pivot point, gas spring and actuator) should be moved up or down the same distance in their respective mounts (1:1 ratio). Release actuator and gas spring (see page 2). Allow backrest to rest on the seat. Remove screws (A) on inside of backrest pivot plate and move up or down as intended. Replace screws. Return backrest to upright and secure gas spring as intended, using a 1:1 ratio.then secure the actuator in support, using the same 1:1 ratio. (Use illustrations on page 7 for reference and instructions on page 3). As a good starting point position pivot point one inch above compressed cushion height.

DEFINITIONS AND PROGRAMMING TERMINOLOGY Backrest Limit Set the maximum angle to which back will travel relative to horizontal. Prevents back from driving into the ground during tilt function. Configure 5 Switch Functions Allows function assignment to each of the 5 switches when using a 5 Switch device plugged into the front of the QMAC. 5 Switch can be used for demo, attendant or client use. Current Limit Sets limits of power available to each actuator. Can prevent injury to client or damage to chair and objects should seating system become bound under or against an immovable object.values are shown in amps. Use factory preset values whenever appropriate. Drive Creep Angle Back angle (in tilt or recline) at which drive speed available is greatly reduced for safety, while still allowing user limited mobility. Example of use could be low van ceiling accommodation. Programmable range is 97 to 124 degrees. Drive Lock-Out Back angle (in tilt or recline) at which the drive is inhibited for safety. User must bring back to more upright position to re-engage drive system. Programmable range is 105 to 125 degrees. Dual ELR versus Recline with Legrest Dual enables the client to operate legrests simultaneously through their input device. Recline with Legrest enables the legrests to automatically raise each time the recline is operated for positioning benefit. Enhanced Recline A post-recline auto-tilt feature to help maintain posture and reduce shearing forces. Use is highly recommended with recline feature. Enable Option to make function indicated available to client (e.g. Recline Enable Yes) or to disable function unless reprogrammed (e.g. RELR Enable No). Enhanced Recline Seat Angle sets angle to which the tilt actuator will raise seat during the Enhanced Recline function. Enhanced Recline Back Threshold sets back angle at which, once crossed during recline operation, the Enhanced Recline feature will engage upon returning back to upright. Intelli-motion description of the SmartSeat s unique ability to remember and duplicate the programmed movement of the user s profile. Put Backrest in Initial Position begin shear program with back at most upright angle practical for client and with shear plate as high as possible Re Home Calibrates all actuators to re-establish their programmed positions specific to the end user. It is recommended to Re-Home chair quarterly. Switched Input Latched Allows latching of 5 Switch functions System Configuration Reset Chair Resets all actuators to factory settings. Use recommended with chair demos and between client evaluations. 15

CLIENT EVALUATION STEP BY STEP FITTING GUIDE Do not seat end user in the SmartSeat system until indicated in step Have documented results of a seating and positioning mat evaluation performed by a trained healthcare professional. The evaluation should include, but not be limited to a clinical examination of the client s ROM, skin integrity, orientation in space, seat angles and functional limitations. Lack of this knowledge could result in serious injury if the seating system s limits are not applied appropriately. 2. Re-Home the Quickie SmartSeat prior to configuring the system for the client. 3. Configure seating system using the QMAC Pendant Programmer as appropriate for end user (see pages 13 and 14). Use results of ROM evaluation to determine appropriate settings for all angles. a.
