2 Shaftless Throttles The Theory Throttle Bodies are designed to improve the flow of air into an engine over a plenum and single throttle design, which is favoured by OEMs for cost, assembly and noise reasons. One area where traditional throttle bodies are lacking is that the butterfly valve is held via a thick shaft and two screws. This shaft and screws can cause disruption to the air flow and hamper the performance of the engine. AT Power have done away with the shaft, with a patented design that leaves just a 2mm thin profiled blade in the air stream. This shaftless system can improve flow by up to 10% on common throttle body sizes. In fact tests show an AT Power throttle has 99.5% the same flow has having no butterfly at all. The improvements are clear for all to see. Combined with advanced CNC machining, AT Power can manufacture small lightweight throttles offering the performance of a much larger system.
