1 PDU Input Power Cord Before installation Before you install the PDU Input Power Cord, see the installation manual included with your PDU for pre-installation instructions and safety information. Select the proper power cord: PDUs provided with input isolation transformers require 4-wire input conductors (3 phases + protective earthing). PDUs without input isolation transformers require 5-wire input conductors (3 phases + neutral + protective earthing). PDUs provided with input isolation transformers are considered by the Canadian and U.S. National Electrical Codes to be separately derived systems and require a licensed electrician to install a grounding electrode conductor (GEC). 2 Remove the rectangular gland plate Remove one of the rectangular gland plates by loosening the captive screws, using a Phillips or standard screwdriver: For wiring under a raised floor: remove the plate in the bottom of the PDU. For overhead wiring: remove the plate in the top of the PDU. 2 PDU Input Power Cords

3 How to install the new gland plate for wiring under the floor 1. Route the power cord through the hole in the bottom of the PDU where the old gland plate was located. 2. Slide the new gland plate over the power cord and pull the wires through the gland plate. Secure the wires to the plate with a nut. 3. Secure the new gland plate to the PDU. 4. Run the wires to the main input switch. See Connect the input cord to the PDU main input switch on page 5 for connecting to the main input switch. PDU Input Power Cords 3

4 How to install the new gland plate for overhead wiring 1. Route the power cord through the hole in the top of the PDU where the old gland plate was located. 2. Secure the new gland plate to the PDU. 3. Run the wires directly to the main input switch. See Connect the input cord to the PDU main input switch on page 5 for connecting to the main input switch. 4 PDU Input Power Cords

5 Connect the input cord to the PDU main input switch Electrical Hazard If a grounding electrode conductor (GEC) is required, a licensed electrician must install it. For both configurations, use the following procedure. 1. At the main input switch, connect the input cord s wires to the terminals according to their labels and colors. Warning Tighten the terminal lugs to the torque specified on the switch s label. 2. Connect the cord s protective earthing (PE) wire to the top lug next to the main input switch. 3. If a GEC is required, connect it to the bottom lug (next to the main input switch) and to building steel. The GEC is an insulated, 4 AWG copper conductor. The conductor s insulations are green, with or without a yellow stripe. 4-wire connection to PDU without a transformer: PE 3-wire connection to PDU with a transformer: PE GEC PDU Input Power Cords 5
