IMPROPER INSTALLATION CAN RESULT IN IRREVERSABLE DAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE OR THIS MODULE. IT IS THE INSTALLERS RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY ALL WIRES PRIOR TO MAKING ANY CONNECTIONS. INSTALLATION: KPtechnologies Navigation Bypass module is designed to automatically press the OK button each time the vehicle is started and to allow programming the navigation/media system while the vehicle is in motion. The OK screen is processed electronically by soldering two wires of the KPtechnologies module directly to the navigation systems circuit board. This KPtechnologies module ONLY works on systems that utilize a (-) switching matrix. To program while in motion the module uses a standard Bosch style SPDT relay to break the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal. While the signal is broken the navigation/media unit can be operated as if the vehicle was not moving. For safety reasons even with this module installed the AUX video input still will NOT work while the vehicle is in motion. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS: Due to the harsh environment found in vehicles, KP Technologies recommends always soldering and securely taping EVERY connection. 1. YELLOW 12VDC SWITCHED ACCESSORY a. Connect this wire to a source that reads 0 volts when the car is off and 12 volts when the ignition switch is on. 2. BLACK GROUND a. Connect this wire to ground. 3. PURPLE REVERSE INPUT (SPECIFIC VEHICLES ONLY) a. Connect this wire to the reverse light signal that meters 12vdc only when the vehicle is in reverse. This is only required for vehicles with OEM cameras that display on the navigation screen when the vehicle is in reverse. This input prevents the module from outputting the OK signal while the camera is on. 4. GREEN (OPTIONAL) SPEED SENSOR INTERRUPT

2 a. This 200mA output is triggered by pressing and holding the OK button for more then 1 second. This output can function in one of three programmable ways. Please see the PROGRAMMING section of this manual for more information. 5. TWISTED BLACK OK BUTTON INPUT a. Connect this wire directly to the circuit board on one side of the physical OK button. 6. TWISTED RED OK BUTTON INPUT a. Connect this wire directly to the circuit board on the other side of the physical OK button. NOTE: After the twisted black and red wires are connected to the circuit board an ohm meter can be used to verify functionality. The ohm meter, when measuring from the twisted black wire to the twisted red wire, with power disconnected, should read infinite resistance when the OK button is not pushed and should read near 0 ohms when the OK button is pushed Infiniti G35 Sedan Wiring Information (Please consult factory service manual for other models/years): Switched Ignition Purple (Main connector on back of radio brain) VSS Gray (Main connector on back of radio brain) Ground Black (Main connector on back of radio brain) OK button connections Solder the KPtechnologies twisted black and twisted red wire to the pins marked in the picture below at the main connector on circuit board that OK button is physically located. 3 Pin 87 Contact Normally Open Application specific Common Applications: 1. VSS Bypass: Allows signal to pass only when the output is off. VSS wire must be cut and wired through relay. Pin 87 is not used in this application: 2. AUX Output: Voltage is passed only when the output is on. Voltage can be + or -. Pin 87a is not used in this application. SETTING: This modules delay time before processing the OK screen is adjustable between ~1 and ~30 seconds, with a ~30 millisecond resolution. This delay time will dictate how long the module waits after power is applied before it will output the electronic signal to automatically process the OK button. With the adjustment knob turned completely counter clockwise the delay will be set to ~1 second. With the adjustment knob turned completely clockwise the delay will be set to ~30 seconds. When programming this value it is recommended that you allow the OK screen to be displayed for at least 1 second before the OK button is processed for the best performance.. 3

4 PROGRAMMING: The AUX output can be programmed to operate in three different modes On/Off, Memory On/Off, and VSS Bypass. On/Off (Mode 1) Every time the AUX output is triggered the output will alternate states. When the car is first started this output will always be off. Memory On/Off (Mode 2) Every time the AUX output is triggered the output will alternate states. When the car is first started the output will revert to the state it was in when the ignition was last shut off. VSS Bypass (Mode 3) Triggering the AUX output will cause the output to turn on for 20 seconds. However, while the output is on each time the OK button is pushed the 20 second countdown timer will be reset back to 20 seconds. This allows the VSS signal to be bypassed as long as information is being programmed in to the navigation unit. Once data entry ceases the AUX output will automatically shut off as soon as the timer expires. To change the programmed state you must hold the OK button down for approximately 15 seconds. Once the button has been held down long enough the AUX output will pulse on and off 4 times to provide indication that programming mode has been entered. It is recommended to hook a relay up to the AUX output before attempting to program the unit, as the relay contacts will click each time the AUX output is energized providing audible feedback. Once program mode has been entered each time the OK button is pressed and released the mode will increment by 1 ( ) and the AUX output will pulse to indicate which mode is currently selected (1 pulse for Mode 1, 2 pulses for Mode 2, and 3 pulses for Mode 3). When the desired mode has been selected wait 10 seconds for the program mode to time out. Once program mode times out the new value will be stored to memory. If you turn the ignition off before program mode times out the value will not be stored. NOTE: For the sake of clarity the wire colors listed above are not shown in actual order. Please refer to the wire colors in the diagram and ignore the wire position. TROUBLESHOOTING: 4
