2 CONCEPT This Riot Control Vehicle is practical offering versatile operational functionality being a deterrent in the dissolution of violent groups. The design of the vehicle is threatening and aggressive supported by Police by acoustic auxiliary equipment. In cases of confrontation with demonstrators, the water and additive agents facilitate maximum effectiveness in splitting up crowds using non-lethal means. The Vehicles smooth surfaces and rounded edges assists in preventing people from mounting the superstructure. The Anti-Lift Serrated strips removes the possibility of crowds overturning the vehicle. Protection for the crew and the vehicle as a whole is achieved by means of additional protective Shields, Screens and special protection of the hydraulic and pneumatic and fuel lines. Make: Mecedes Benz Actros Model: 20/ kw 1800 RPM CHASSIS AND ENGINE Model: Standard 2-door cabin General design: CABIN All-steel forward control, tilt cab designed providing ample space for 1 driver, 1 operator and in the rear seat bench space for 1 monitor- operator. Two doors which can only be opened from outside by means of special keys and lockable from inside cab. Windscreen made of special laminated glass. Electric washing units with two screen wipers. One large outside rear view mirror mounted on each side of the cab in such a way to make it impossible getting hold on from ground level. Mirrors are protected with Riot Screens. Protection: All necessary daily inspections may be carried out at the front of the vehicle simply by opening the radiator grille. For repair work, the cabin can be tilted hydraulically. The windscreen is protected by a metal grid, additional Polycarbonate plates and electric washing unit with two screen wipers which can be raised and lowered pneumatically. All the other windows have protective Riot Screens and Polycarbonate plates as permanent fixtures. Dozer blade: A hydraulically controlled dozer blade is fitted in front of the bumper. The blade is made of steel and can be lifted approx. 180mm Interior equipment: Ventilation,Cooling and Heating Enabling both, fresh air and circulating air ventilation. In case heating is required,the unit allows to heat up the cab space.. Air Conditioning: The cabin is equipped with a dash air condition. Dashboard: The dashboard is equipped with all necessary gauges, pilot lamps and switches for operation (Mercedes Benz standard). Speedometer Oil pressure gauge or warning lamp Diesel tank indicator Coolant temperature gauge or warning lamp Battery charging indicator Air pressure gauge Control light for direction indicators Warning light for brake system
3 Steering column: Fitted with a combination switch for the following functions: Windscreen wiper Windscreen washer Horn Headlights (low beam, high beam, flasher) Turn signal lights left/right (brief/continuous flashing) Alarm panel: Located on the dashboard there is a control panel for the acoustic and visual emergency signals. It comprises: Control including pilot lamp for rotating beacons and electronic siren on/off Pilot lamp for open doors and lowered platforms Control box: A separate control box, holding all controls and switches for the Public Address System, is dashboard mounted within easy reach of the driver or co-driver. This control box also holds controls and switches for adjusting the electronic siren just to the required signal and for simultaneous operation with the Public Address System. Control panel for pump unit All installations necessary for operating the power-driven pump set properly - including fuses and relays - are located in a control box mounted in the cabin. All switches and indicators are designated by appropriate pictograms or English labels. Equipment: Normal pressure manometer Mano vacuum meter Coolant temperature gauge for pump engine Hour meter for pump engine Revolution counter for pump engine Water tank level indicator Foam tank level indicator Indicator light Priming pump Indicator light Oil pressure Battery charge indicator light Start and stop button for pump engine Switch for priming pump Switch for water tank suction line Switch for foam tank main valve Switch for admixing rate adjustment Speed control (throttle) Switches for Additives on Control lamps for Additives on Illumination of control panel SUPERSTRUCTURE IN GENERAL Make: ROSENBAUER SKD Kit Assembled at TFM Pump Compartment Mid Mounted Construction: The structure consists of laser cut self supporting canted aluminium sheets jointed together with Bonding technology and bolted where necessary. The complete superstructure is mounted onto an auxiliary frame which is fixed to the chassis frame, by means of rubber steel cone bearings Pump Compartment: Two swivelling platforms underneath the pump compartment, clad in non-skid studded aluminium sheet. Platforms can only be opened with special keys. A warning lamp automatically lights up on the dashboard whenever either of the platforms is not in its closed position. The compartment gives enough to store additional equipment. Working deck: The roof of the pump compartment can be walked upon over its entire length and is covered with non-skid studded aluminium sheet. Service work on the motor and pump units can be effected from above without difficulty via two access lids, which are held open - when needed - by gas-pressurized struts. The roof slopes gently downwards all around, in order that any Molotov cocktails thrown onto the vehicle may roll off the roof unimpeded.

Pump shaft made of stainless steel. Output: 3000 l/min. at 10 bar or 2000 l/min. at 15 bar, when operating from the tank. Location: Midships Number of stages: 1 Connections: - Suction line to the tank - Filling line to the tank - One suction inlet with 4 coupling - Two pressure outlets, on the left hand side, for fire fighting operations. Provided with ball type valves and 2,5 female couplings with male blank caps. - One outlet to the roof monitor - One outlet to the front monitor - One outlet to the underbody & roof protection nozzles - Flushing line for flushing the additive system with clear water Priming Device: Type: Drive: Technical data: ROSENBAUER Via tooth belt from pump shaft 95 %, corresponding to a max. suction height of 9,5 m Position of pump unit: The lateral outlets and the control panel are on the left-hand side, the radiator on the right-hand side (seen in driving direction). The entire unit mounted comprises equipment and pump compartment in one and is mounted at right angle to the longitudinal axis Foam proportioning system: An automatic Around-the-Pump type foam proportioner to induct foam compound to the water at the correct proportioning ratio, independent of pump pressure and/ or discharge. After the pump has been engaged, only the foam system shall have to be switched on, and the correct percentage of foam compound shall be admixed automatically. The foam proportioning system shall be suited for all protein and Fluorprotein based foam compounds, as well as for synthetic foam compounds, including AFFF. The automatic foam proportioning shall be done with low pressure loss and shall operate within the pump output range of 200 l/min and maximum pump output, as well as at a pump pressure between 5 bar and maximum pump pressure. The rate of admixing shall be pre-adjusted to 3% and 6%. Once the foam system has been switched on, it shall be possible to produce normal pressure foam.
5 Material: Metering and proportioning valve in the proportioning unit shall be made of gun-metal. Foam/additive admixing system During a riot it is advisable to apply the following alternating operation modes for the front monitor: water only water mixed with foam additive Model: Performance: Fittings: Foam mixer Z8 6%, all time constant independent of discharge. One suction line from the additive tank, with electro pneumatically controlled ball type valve. 6 TANK WATER TANK Capacity: Construction: Equipment: 6200 litres water The water tank is mounted completely torsion free and is therefore suitable for even roughest cross-country operation. It is made of polypropylene (PP) and therefore absolutely corrosion proof. The material Polypropylene has the unique characteristic to close itself to its original form, after a penetration of a 9mm bullet. The standard design of the tank includes: - Manhole with quick action cover release and excess pressure safety device - Overflow system with pressure and vacuum release - Tank drain with 1 ball type valve - Electric tank level indicator Fludometer - Dismountable baffle plates, mounted in the tank s interior, prevent a rolling motion of the contents - Anti-swirl plates prevent a funnel formation during suction operation - Three (3) hydrant filler inlets, with 2,5 male coupling and female blank coupling and provided with a 2,5 ball type valve. - One located on the left, right and rear side. FOAM COMPOUND TANK Capacity: Location: Construction: Equipment: 200 l The foam compound tank is integrated in the water tank. The foam compound tank is suitable for transport and storage of all known brands of synthetic and protein based foam compounds as well as AFFF. It is made of polypropylene (PP) and therefore absolutely corrosion proof. - Manhole with quick action cover release and excess pressure safety device - Overflow system with pressure and vacuum release - Electric tank level indicator Fludometer - Suction line to the foam proportioning system, with ball valve - Tank drain with ball type valve - One tank filler inlet with 2 ½ male coupling and female blank coupling.this inlet also serves as a draining device and as a flushing connection. ADDITIVE TANK Capacity: Location: Equipment: 200 l The additive tank is incorporated into the water tank. The additive tank is suitable for transport and storage of additives. - Manhole with quick action cover release and excess pressure safety device - Pressure and vacuum release - Suction line to the proportioning system, with ball valve - Tank drain with ball type valve - One tank filler inlet with 2 ½ male coupling and female blank coupling. This inlet also serves as a draining device and as a flushing connection.
7 POLY ADMIX SYSTEM During a riot it is advisable to apply the following ALTERNATING operation modes for the roof mounted monitor: water only water mixed with additive Tank capacities: Percentage adjustment: After actuating the proper control in the driver s cab, additive liquid is admixed to the water stream. After the water hits the ground or rioters, part of the liquid will evaporate, thus developing the required additive clouds in those areas where it is really needed. 1x 100 separated to 2 x 50 l From 0 2,5 % of additive can be achieved by operating a selector in the cabin and thereafter by operating a regulator valve. Slewing range 270 Elevation/ Depression: -15 to +60 Due to the special shape of the cab and the contours of the working deck, the depression angle may be smaller when measured over the rotating beacons and other fixtures. The rotating beacons and siren are protected by metal grids in such a way that the monitor barrel will not hit these objects when operated. Pulse system: Searchlight: Camera system: Image sensor: View angle: The monitor can be operated in short pulse, long pulse or continuous stream. 1 searchlight (Xenon 35W) incorporated in the monitor with protection grid. 1 High resolution heavy duty eyeball camera with 9 built-in IR LEDs is incorporated in the monitor with protection grid. Furthermore integrated are a microphone, an automatic day / night sensor and a mirror / non mirror function. Recording system inside the cabin. Circular Remote on/off from driver s cab.
9 ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT Traffic Light Installation In compliance with highway codes, comprising head lights, brake/stop lights, trafficators, back-up light and license plate illumination. Illumination: Signal system: Lighting system for the interior of the cab, pump compartment and storage lockers. 2 stroboscip flashlights, red or blue, on cabin s roof. 1 electronic wail-yelp siren with control panel (model Federal, PA 300), incorporated Public Address System and loudspeaker (100 W), with built-in front panel microphone. All external parts of the siren, PA-system and beacons are protected against stoning by metal grids. Battery switch: Radio system: A battery main switch for cutting all power from the battery is provided in the driver s cab. Internal electrical wiring including antenna and 24 V/12 V voltage divider for connection of a mobile transceiver will be provided. The radio itself is not included! FINISH Superstructure: Frame and rims: Rust protection: Light alloy: Tyre pressure lettering: White or to customer s specification As delivered by MB Protection of the under body and substructures with bitumen base coating. A coating of Perbunan between profiles and panels prevent rattling and entry of condensation water. The generous use of anodized light alloy panelling, in combination with the Tectyl interior coating, will allow the vehicle to be used in a salt laden, high humidity atmosphere, with hardly any corrosion problems. Anodized, unpainted Above the wheels in bar RUN FLATS All Rims are fitted with Run Flat 2000 Run Flats. This is a Solid Military type run Flat.

WEIGH DISTRIBUTION CALCULATION Upon Contract closure a full weight distribution will be competed ready for sign off. At this time discussions will be held with the NRCS and a special dispensation will possible have to be obtained. TFM will Handle these applications however will required support documentation from the SAPS due to the limiting road ordinance and that this is considered to be a special vehicle.
