Only installs with factory type OEM ( Original Equipment M anufacturer) connectors making the installation into your DIS ( Distributorless Ignition S ystem) vehicle easier than any other accessory ignition on the market! simply connects in line between yourfactory OEM WIRING and the OEM COIL PACK(S), and by connecting the red and black wiresfrom the control box to your vehicle s battery. 2 II LOCATING OEM COIL PACK(S) Determine the location ofthe OEM COIL PACK(S) for your vehicle. 4and 6cylindervehicles will have one coil pack.8 cylinder applications will have two (usually on the left and right sides of the engine).ford 4cylinder 2.5L,2.3L twi nplug head motors have 2coil packs, but only the intake coil pack will be used. A generic coil pack is shown in FIGURE 1, p. 1,yours may look slightly different. In some applications you may have enough room to install Jacobs Energy Pak in asmall location in the engine compartment. Determine whatlocation is bestforyour vehicle. Option 1. Mount the Jacobs Energy Pak in between the radiator and grill. Itwill be necessary to remove the radiator and grill cover to mount the Jacobs Energy Pak. It can be mounted on the passenger ordriver side (Refer to Fig. 2,above). Option 2. Find aflatsturdy location,such as the fenderwell or firewall. Mount JACOBS MOUNTING BRACKET using the included SELFTAPPING TEK SCREWS,with the FLAT and LOCK WASHERSinstalled (see Fig. 2, above).jacobs Energy Pak can be mounted at any angle, whatever is more convenient. Caution: Be certain there is nothing behind the MOUNTING SURFACEthat will be damaged if you choose to drill pilotholes for the SELF TAPPING TEK SCREWS. JACOBS ELECTRONICS IN -2- MIDLAND, TEXAS 79701

DONOT CONNECT TO AN ALTERNATE 12V SOURCE. IV WIRING (see Fig. 3, above) A. Route the ADAPTER from the to the OEM COIL PACK(S)keeping the cables away from moving parts such as the cooling fan,and hot surfaces such as the exhaust manifold. Unplug the OEM WIRING from the OEM COIL PACK(S) (see Fig. 3, above).plug into one ofthe connectors on ADAPTER, and plug the other connector onto the coil (they will go in only one way). The RED wire connects directly to the positive (+) terminal ofthe BATTERY, and the BLACKwire connects directly to the negative (-) terminal of the BATTERY.Do not disconnect the BATTERY from the vehic le s wiring system while making these connections;loosen your battery terminal as you press the SPADE onto the BATTERY terminals between the terminal and the BATTERY post.as soon as SPADE slide onto the terminal, re-tighten the connection. By maintaining continuous contact between the battery terminals and vehicle, you will be able to avoid the inconvenience ofhaving to reset the clock, on-board computer, and radio preset stations. NOTE: DO NOT UNTWISTTHE HEAVY BLACKAND RED (FUSED)BATTERYCONNECTION WIRES EXCEPT JUST ENOUGH TO CONNECTTO THE BATTERY.THE MORE THESEWIRES STAYTOGETHER,THE BETTER WILLRUN. WARNING: THE RED ANDBLACK TWISTED WIRES MUST BECONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY S TERMINAL.DONOT CONNECT TO AN ALTERNATE 12 VOLT SOURCE. D. When all connections are complete, slowly install the FUSEinto the FUSE HOLDER located on the RED wire. Slide the DUST COVER over the FUSE, (DUSTCOVER will only go on one way, do not force it) and mount itto asolid surface using the molded-on mounting tab and included hardware. 4 V PRECAUTIONS A. is capable of producing significantly higher voltage than stock ignitions. Be extremely careful while the ignition switch is on; do not come in contactwith any of the wires especially the spark plug wires. VIOLENT SHOCKWILL OCCUR! INSTALL FUSE LAST only after all connections are made,and you are ready to startthe engine.make sure you are connecting black wire directly to negative (-)battery terminal. Aftermounting energy pak and prior to installing the fuse, quickly tap the black wire to the terminal you wish to connect the wire to. It should not spark; if it does thatis probably the positive (+) battery terminal. VI CHECKING YOUR INSTALLATION INITIAL TESTDRIVE: Once the engine is running,take the vehicle for atest drive.it should run obviously smoother and stronger than before your installation.however, because also cleans the combustion chamber as you drive, you may notice thatthe benefits of mileage and performance improvements increase overthe next1,500 miles of driving. While notessential,jacobsrecommends you do this test drive. VII A. VIII TROUBLESHOOTING If engine won'tstart, FUSE may have blown or been improperly installed.toremedy, install aknown good FUSE. If the RED and BLACKwires are reversed atthe BATTERYterminals,itmay have blown the FUSE. Toremedy, connectthe RED wi re to the positive (+) BATTERY terminal and the BLACKwire to the negative (-)BATTERY terminal.with key "OFF", slowly install aknown good FUSE. Recheck all connections, including the BATTERY terminals. Be certain all connections are correct and clean. CONVERTING BACK TO OEM IGNITION Toconvertyour system back to stock ignition operation in the unlikely event your should fail. NOTE: WE RECOMMEND YOU PERFORM APRACTICE RUN TO BECOME FAMILIARWITH THE APPROPRIATEPROCEDUREFOR CONVERTING TO OEM IGNITION INCASE YOU WANTTO TRANSFER YOUR PRODUCT TO ANOTHER VEHICLE OR IFIT SHOULDMALFUNCTION. A. With ignition switch "OFF",remove the FUSE (see Fig. 3,p.3) from the FUSE HOLDER in the RED WIREon positive (+) BATTERY terminal. Disconnectthe from the stock OEM COIL PACK(S). D. Disconnectthe OEM WIRING from the as shown in FIGURE 4, right. Reconnect the OEM to the OEM COIL PACK(S). 5 IX TECH TIPS &SPARK PLUG GAPS TUNE UP SPECIFICATIONS FOR JACOBSELECTRONICS PRODUCT NOTE: DUE TO JACOBS' SABILITYTO DELIVER SO MUCH MORE SPARK THAN THE OEM IGNITION SYSTEM,YOUSHOULD INCREASEYOURSPARK PLUG GAPS FOR OPTIMUM BENEFITS Use the same type and heat range as gave best results before installation of JACOBS ELECTRONICS PRODUCTS. JACOBS prefers Autolite, Champion,AC Delco and NGK copper core plugs. Do not use specialshaped or Platinum, Gold, Silver, etc. type spark plugs!! While you have your plugs removed,carefully inspect for damage and wear. Ifyou have driven your vehicle very many miles since you last changed plugs, or your plugs are not in nearperfect condition, JACOBS recommends installing new ones.with the low cost of aset of plugs, it would be penny-wise and pound foolish not to change them. YournewJACOBS product will give you maximum benefitwith afresh setof plugs. TECH TIP : IN MANY CASES, ALARGER GAPWILL GIVEEVENBETTER RESULTS.DR.
