6 Introduction ROTECH is specialized in producing and distributing signal devices, switch-boxes, solenoid valves, positioners, brackets and couplings for pneumatic actuators. Components used to integrate signal devices and solenoids into bussystems are also part of our product range. We also keep a large range of accessories for the installation and automation of valves in stock. Our facilities are able to realise client-specific solutions even at small numbers very fast. But we also offer a large range of standard products. Another activity is our build up service. You are able to obtain the complete valve mounted with all necessary components. 8 A - Signal Devices With Housing General information: Signal devices are used to report and control the valves position. Switches and sensors with different technical specifications are mounted into boxes. Depending on the construction even use in explosion proof areas is suitable. Different models and materials are available for the housing. 10 A- Signal Devices TCR class The TCR-series is designed in close co-operation with the experience and the needs of the users. As a result this exceptional design has a number of outstanding technical features that offer many advantages compared to well-known technology. Great effort was expended in the compact construction, nevertheless there is enough space to mount mechanical switches, slotted proximitiy switches or proximitiy sensors (max. M8 x 65mm) TCR-HOUSING The consideration of the VDI/VDE 85 interface in the body is unique. All switching components for open construction (for example the UNI-sandwich system) can be used with the housing. The base provides the possibility to mount a brass filter element to have the same pressure inside and outside the housing. Therefore water condensation is almost impossible. Another remarkable advantage of the TCR-series is that the cable gland is placed below the base, where it is protected against impacts. In addition water cannot penetrate through the cable gland as it is always covered by the housing or the actuator. The easy accessible position of the terminals offers the easiest and quickest wiring when bringing the modul into operation. Integrated into the base is now the possibility to directly connect a solenoid valve. This enables the user to control the actuator and poll the end positions using only one cable.

11 A - The cover serves as a protection for the enclosed switching devices and has to resist the surrounding conditions. To fullfill all application requirements TCR- covers can be manufactured out of different materials. For operation in factories the transparent macrolon cover is very suitable, especially on service duty. For outdoor areas with high static loads the black vestamid cover is highly suitable. This cover is resistant against higher temperatures and ultra-violet lights and has a extremely low electrical resistance. High vision beacon Every box of the TCR-series can be upgraded with a high vision beacon. This allows visual control of the valve position from almost every direction. Available in various color combinations.

12 A - Mechanically operated Signal Devices TCR- series Microswitches The TCR- module with microswitches converts the end positions or middle position of the actuator into electrical signals. The microswitch in the body is commonly used in cases where there are no special requirements or the working voltage should be set free. The microswitch with its compact design is very suitable for mounting into the housing. When used as a potential free contact, the switch provides a very wide range of controlling possibilities. The fully adjustable serrated cams are locked together to ensure that the adjusted setting is secured against vibration. Also available with high vision beacon. The -wire sensor is often used in European countries as a contact free operated signal device for non-hazardous applications. The -wire sensor is considered very reliable in its switching features because of its low residual voltage and the low potential difference in the switched state. The -wire sensor is often used in European countries as a contact free operated signal device for non-ex-applications. The slotted sensor is commonly used in the chemical industry and generally in applications with explosion protection, although -wire technology is also increasingly applied in mechanical engineering. 24 A -5 Signal Devices In TCR-Housing for Ex-Areas EEx ed IIC T6 Limit Switch Box The limit switch module for hazardous areas converts mechanical end or middle positions of the actuator into electrical signals. The microswitch (EEx d IIC T6) is through its very compact design especially suited to be mounted into a housing. As a potential free switch over contact it is flexible in the kind of control. The TCR-module made of a shock-proof Vestamid housing is certified for protection class EEx ed IIC T6 by using components that are increased safety and flame proof. 26 A -7 Actuator Sensor Interface Zentraleinheit Systemgruppen Steuerungen Sensoren + Aktoren The actuator-sensor-interface is a new net system for binary sensors and actuators of the lowest field bus level. The process signals are commonly transmitted to the control system by a complex parallel wiring. The AS-interface replaces the complex wiring with an easy -wire connection, common to all sensors and actuators. The AS-interface is an open standard, independent of any manufacturer. The advantage for the user is that different AS-interfaces can be applied. Functionally similar devices of different manufacturers can be exchanged easily. The AS-interface works according to the master-slaveprinciple. Every slave connected by the AS-interface can control four binary elements that can act as inputs (sensor) or outputs (actuator). A fully equipped master with 0 + slaves can control binary elements. Characteristics By using the new bi-directional slaves the max. possible number of binary sensors or actuators is 8. Another important advantage of the AS-interface techinque is the use of one wire for data transmission and power supply to the slaves. The connection is easily done by penetration terminals. 27 A -8 The AS-interface system components AS-interface master The master monitors the AS-Interface system and organises the data exchange with its slaves. The master acts as a slave to the higher level fieldbus such as PRO- FIBUS, INTERBUS-S, MODBUS or other similar systems. The model as a stand alone master can store commands and is capable of calculating combinations of inputs and outputs on its own. A standard V power supply cannot be used as it must also control the de-coupling of the data signal from the supply voltage. AS-interface modules Previously installed standard sensors or actuators in -wire or -wire configurations can be connected by modules into the AS-interface net. Every group represents only one participant in the system, so that 8 binary elements can be combined with the net. AS-interface sensors/actuators Sensors with an integral ASI chip offer you enormous advantages. They can be controlled directly from the bus, and be connected directly to the serial data line. AS-interface limit switch box The special I/O-module of the ROTECH limit switch box records the actuator position open / closed and at the same time controls the magnetic valve solenoid of the pneumatic actuator. The complete module represents a single participant in the AS-Interface net. AS-interface conduit In addition to standard round cable, special ASI ribbon cable has come into its own for networking, enabling easy component linking using the penetration technique.

28 A -9 Intelligent Signal Devices TCR-Line AS Interface The AS-interface module converts the mechanical end or middle positions of the pneumatic actuator into electrical signals and transmits them by the AS-interface bus system. This can be realized with Namur-switches or gold contact micro-switches. The TCR-module also allows indirect control of a magnetic valve solenoid (.6W/V) via the bus. The connection with the special penetration technique allows the mounting of the module at any position on an existing or new AS-interface cable without using special tools. The box is available with high vision beacon, too. ADVANTAGES Bus connection of the complete limit switch module integrated control of a magnetic valve solenoid easy and quick mounting and wiring. 30 A - Connectivity Options Solenoid valve Solenoid valve In many areas of industrial engineering pneumatic actuators are used to control valves. The TCR-housing offers the possibility to connect the control solenoid with the limit switch unit. Through a cable gland at the side of the housing the solenoid is wired onto the mutual terminal block. The whole unit can therefore be wired to the control sys- tem with just one cable. For special applications it maybe useful to have the possibility to disconnect the solenoid and the limit switch unit. For this kind of requirement the TCR-housing can be equipped with a plugable connection. The cable gland is wired to the terminal block inside the box. 33 A - Aeration and Deaeration Membrane Do you know the problem with condensated water? Perspiration water will always be generated in an hermetically sealed box by dropping the outside temperature. Through the installation of a waterproof but airpermeable membrane, the internal is able to interchange with the outer enviroment and perspiration water will be avoided. ; Air and humidity Water and particles ADVANTAGES The installation of the steam permeable membrane avoids perspiration water. Permanent de/aeration of the box is guaranteed. High protection class, because the microporous structure of the mebrane prevents the penetration of microparticles and saltcrystals.
