Service Information Letter Open Rotor Circuit 9910591 Series Alternators Issue Date: December 20, 2006, Revision 1 Original Issue Date: November 29, 2006 INTRODUCTION: Kelly Aerospace Turbine Rotables has determined that a small percentage of alternators manufactured on February 16, 2005 through May 27, 2005 may contain rotors that exhibit conditions favorable to the coil winding circuit becoming open. SCOPE: 9910591 Series: Vendor Part Numbers ASG10001-17 and ASG10001-18 with Serial Numbers and manufacture dates as follows: Serial Numbers A-176882 through A-176931 manufactured on 2/16/05 Serial Numbers A-176932 through A-176941 manufactured on 3/3/05 Serial Numbers A-177201 through A-177240 manufactured on 3/3/05 Serial Numbers A-177251 through A-177280 manufactured on 4/13/05 Serial Numbers A-177241 through A-177250 manufactured on 5/13/05 Serial Numbers A-177281 through A-177295 manufactured on 5/13/05 Serial Numbers A-176942 through A-176956 manufactured on 5/27/05 COMPLIANCE: For aircraft that have alternators with 200 hours or less since new, remove and replace the alternator with an overhauled unit. CREDIT INFORMATION Affected new 9910591-11 alternators in Service Station stock should be returned to Cessna for credit per standard procedures. For airplanes that are within warranty and have an affected alternator with 200 hours or less TIS: Applicable parts credit and a labor allowance credit of 1.0 man-hour per airplane will be provided to remove and replace the alternator as described in this Service Bulletin. Freight will be credited at the most economical method unless pre-approved by Cessna. Determine if the alternator is affected by review of the attached Kelly Aerospace Turbine Rotables Service Information Letter Revision 1: Open Rotor Circuit 9910591 Series Alternators, dated December 20, 2006 and/or applicable airplane paperwork such as logbooks and/or applicable work orders and sales/shipping receipts or by visually inspecting the alternator. A. If not affected, proceed to Step 11. B. If affected, proceed to Step 2. 2. Electrically ground the airplane and turn all switches to the "OFF" position. If external power is connected to the airplane, disconnect external power from receptacle. 3. Disconnect the airplane battery. (Refer to the applicable airplane model Maintenance Manual, Chapter 24, Electrical Power.) 4. Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle with the following instruction: DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS. 5. Remove the existing alternator from the airplane. (Refer to applicable sections of the appropriate airplane model Maintenance Manual.) 6. Remove the external capacitor from the removed alternator and install it in the same location on the replacement alternator. 7. Install the replacement alternator on the airplane. (Refer to applicable sections of the appropriate airplane model Maintenance Manual.) 8. Remove maintenance warning tags from battery and external power receptacle. 9. Reconnect the airplane battery. (Refer to the applicable airplane model Maintenance Manual, Chapter 24, Electrical Power.) 10. Perform an alternator operation check by verifying bus voltage of approximately 28 volts. 11. Make an entry in the airplane logbook stating compliance and method of compliance with this Service Bulletin. December 26, 2006 Page 3

It has been determined that alternators manufactured on February 16, 2005 through May 27, 2005 may contain rotors that exhibit conditions favorable to the coil winding circuit becoming open. It is recommended that these alternators be replaced if the alternator has 200 hours or less time in service (TIS). Your airplane is affected if it is currently equipped with a 9910591-11 alternator with vendor part number ASG10001-11 and with serial numbers A-176882 through A176956 or A-177201 through A-177295 that were manufactured on February 16, 2005 through May 27, 2005 and has 200 hours or less time in service (TIS).
