This accessory kit is designed for use on Triumph Tiger 800 and Tiger 800XC motorcycles only and should not be fitted to any other manufacturer s motorcycle. Fitting this accessory kit to any other manufacturer s motorcycle will affect the performance, stability and handling of the motorcycle. This may affect the rider s ability to control the motorcycle and could cause an Always have Triumph approved parts, accessories and conversions fitted by a trained technician of an authorised Triumph dealer. The fitment of parts, accessories and conversions by a technician who is not of an authorised Triumph dealer may affect the handling, stability or other aspects of the motorcycle s operation which may result in loss of motorcycle control and an Harness Installation Ensure both the underside of the harness and the fuel tank are clean and dry prior to fitting the tank bag. Dirt or dust trapped between the fuel tank and the harness will result in damage to the paintwork and harness.. Remove the rider s seat as described in the service manual.. Remove the front fuel tank panel as described in the service manual. 3. Position the harness to the fuel tank, aligning the fuel filler opening so it is approximately 5 mm rearward of the fuel filler cap. Retain the harness in this position until the straps are tensioned at step 8. Throughout this operation, ensure that the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported to prevent risk of injury from the motorcycle falling. A torque wrench of known accurate calibration must be used when fitting this accessory kit. Failure to tighten any of the fasteners to the correct torque specification may affect motorcycle performance, handling and stability. This may result in loss of motorcycle control and an 5 mm. Pull the front straps through the harness until the rear straps become tight. If the Triumph accessory fog lamps are fitted, route the straps under the fog lamp cables. 7. Route the front straps around the fuel tank mountings, passing the straps underneath the mountings from the rear and then upwards through the tensioning buckles, as shown below. 3 Incorrect tensioning of the tank bag harness will result in damage to the fuel tank or harness. 8. Tension the front straps so that they are as tight as possible. There must be no sideways movement of the harness after tensioning. The harness will be pulled forwards during the tensioning process. 9. Check that the fuel filler opening is slightly to the rear of the fuel filler cap. Check that the fuel filler cap opens without obstruction. T0884 Correct Harness Position 0. If the fuel filler opening is not in the correct position when the straps have been tensioned, loosen the front straps and then adjust the rear straps as required. Re-tension the front straps as described above.. Repeat steps 8 to 0 until the harness is correctly positioned.. Refit the front fuel tank panel as described in the service manual. 3. Ensure the harness does not restrict the movement of the steering or cause any cables or wiring harnesses to bind. Move the handlebars to left and right full lock while checking that cables and wiring harnesses do not bind. A cable or harness which binds will restrict the steering. Any restriction of the steering may cause loss of control and an Always ensure the harness is correctly tensioned before riding the motorcycle. Operation of the motorcycle with the harness loose may result in loss of motorcycle control and an Tank Bag Installation Remove all shoulder straps from the tank bag before mounting the tank bag to the motorcycle. Operation of the motorcycle with the shoulder straps fitted may result in loss of motorcycle control and an Always ensure the fuel filler cap lock cover is closed before fitment of the tank bag to the harness. Fitment of the tank bag with the lock cover open may prevent correct attachment of the tank bag rear magnet to the steel plate on the harness, resulting in loss of motorcycle control and an Always ensure the fuel filler cap lock cover is closed before fitment of the tank bag to the harness. Fitment of the tank bag with the lock cover open may result in permanent damage to the tank bag or fuel filler cap. Always remove the tank bag prior to refuelling. Opening the fuel filler cap with the tank bag attached to the harness will damage the harness or tank bag. Ensure both the underside of the tank bag and the upper surface of the harness are clean and dry prior to fitting the tank bag. Dirt or dust trapped between the tank bag and the harness will result in damage to both items. When using the tank bag, always pack heavier items at the bottom of the bag.. Position the tank bag to the harness and attach the clips on the tank bag to the clips on the harness.. Attach the rear magnetic flap to the steel plate on the harness. Cleaning Use of chemicals or high-pressure spray washers is not recommended for cleaning the tank bag or harness. Using chemicals or pressure washers may damage the tank bag or harness. To help maintain their appearance, clean the tank bag and harness using a sponge or cleaning cloth with low alkaline soap and water. Ensure the tank bag does not restrict the movement of the steering or cause any cables or wiring harnesses to bind. Move the handlebars to the left and right full lock while checking that cables and wiring harnesses do not bind. A cable or harness which binds will restrict the steering. Any restriction of the steering may cause loss of control and an The maximum safe load for the tank bag is 3 kg (6.6 lbs). Never exceed this loading limit as this may cause the motorcycle to become unstable leading to loss of control and an After fitting the accessory kit the motorcycle will exhibit new handling characteristics. Operate the motorcycle in a safe area free from traffic to gain familiarity with any new characteristics. Operation of the motorcycle when not familiar with any new handling characteristics may result in loss of motorcycle control and an Never ride an accessory-equipped motorcycle (including those fitted with Triumph approved windscreens and luggage systems) at speeds above 80 mph (30 km/h). The presence of accessories such as windscreens and luggage systems will cause changes in the stability and handling of the motorcycle. Failure to allow for changes in motorcycle stability may lead to loss of control or an Remember that the 80 mph (30 km/h) limit will be reduced by the fitting of non-approved accessories, incorrect loading, worn tyres, overall motorcycle condition and poor road or weather conditions. This motorcycle must not be operated above the legal road speed limit except in authorised closed-course conditions. Only operate this Triumph motorcycle at high speed in closed-course on road competition or on closed-course racetracks. High speed operation should only be attempted by riders who have been instructed in the techniques necessary for high speed riding and are familiar with the motorcycle s characteristics in all conditions. High speed operation in any other circumstances is dangerous and will lead to loss of motorcycle control and an The strong magnet used to retain the tank bag to the harness may adversely affect a variety of electronic devices and electronic storage units such as (but not limited to): electronic medical devices, mobile phones, personal data assistants (PDAs), lap top computers, floppy discs and other computer storage media, personal music players, digital cameras, memory cards, music/video cassettes etc. Ensure that if carrying any of these items, they are stored as far away from the magnets as possible. It is recommended that any such items are carried elsewhere on the motorcycle or in the map pocket under the lid. Carriage of any such items is entirely at your own risk. 5 of 5
