Installation of Triple A-Pillar Pod and 7 Series Diesel Gauges 1994-1997 Dodge Ram w/ 12 Valve Cummins Diesel Engine GlowShift strives to provide outstanding technical support, and our technical support team is here to help you with any technical or installation questions that you may have regarding the installation of this gauge package. Each gauge and pod is rigorously tested to ensure that we are offering only the highest quality automotive products. Below you will find resources dedicated to helping you understand the installation process of GlowShift s triple A-pillar pod, and 60 PSI boost, exhaust gas temperature, and transmission temperature 7 Series gauges into a 1994-1997 Dodge Ram with 12 Valve Cummins Diesel Engine. This gauge package was installed on a 1994 Dodge Ram with 12 Valve Cummins Diesel Engine. Installation of this gauge package on other model years may look a little different. Thread adapters may be required to complete certain portions of this installation. All of the necessary thread adapters required to complete this installation are available on GlowShiftDirect.com. For specific installation questions, please contact our technical support at 1.888.GS.Gauge or email us at TechSupport@GlowShiftGauges.com. TABLE OF CONTENTS Section One.. Boost Gauge Installation Section Two..Exhaust Temperature Probe Installation Section Three..Transmission Temperature Sensor Installation Section Four..Firewall Pass Through Section Five Removing Factory A-Pillar and Triple Pod Installation Section Six.. Gauge Installation Section Seven Testing Gauges for Functionality

Preparing for Installation Section One: Boost Gauge Installation Disconnect the cables from both batteries. 1. Locate and remove the boost pressure bolt that is located under the horn of the intake manifold. 2. The threads on this port are 1/8 NPT so you can easily screw the supplied barbed fitting into the port and tighten with a wrench. Be sure to use Teflon Tape on the threads in order to seal the port. 3. Connect the boost line to the barbed fitting. Run the boost hose to the firewall keeping it away from any direct heat source or moving parts. Make sure to go through a grommet at the firewall so the hose does not get damaged.

Section Two: Exhaust Temperature Probe Installation 1. Locate the exhaust manifold. Using a center punch mark and drill a hole on the backside of the exhaust manifold above the turbo mount. 2. Drill the exhaust manifold on the mark you made using a size R drill bit. Start by using a smaller drill bit and gradually step up to the size R. By doing this, it will reduce the amount of shavings that may enter the exhaust manifold. Warning: If you are installing the EGT probe before the turbo ensure that no metal shavings enter the turbo housing, as this can cause serious engine damage. 3. After drilling use an industrial vacuum to remove all the metal shavings out of the exhaust manifold. 4. Tap the hole you just drilled into the exhaust manifold to 1/8 NPT-27. 5. After tapping, use an industrial vacuum to remove all the shavings out of the exhaust manifold

6. Thread the feral fitting of the EGT probe into the exhaust manifold and tighten. Be sure not to over tighten this probe, a little past hand tight is a good rule of thumb. 7. Make sure to adjust the probe depth of the EGT probe so that it is in the middle of the exhaust manifold. 8. Run the steel braided cable of the EGT probe to the firewall making sure to keep it away from any direct heat source or moving parts.

Section Three: Transmission Temperature Sensor Installation 1. Locate the transmission test port bolt on the passenger side of the transmission. There are three bolts, be sure to remove the middle bolt. A transmission test port extender is necessary to complete the installation of this sensor, and can be purchased on GlowShiftDirect.com. 2. Take the supplied transmission temperature sensor and thread it into the transmission test port extender. Thread the transmission temperature sensor with test port extender attached into the test port. Be sure to use Teflon Tape on all threads. 3. Once the adapter and temperature sensor is installed into the transmission test port run the black lead wire on the sensor to the frame of the vehicle or any bare metal source. Make sure this wire is solidly grounded; if the gauge is not grounded properly it will read not read accurately. 4. Run 16 gauge automotive wire from the white lead on the transmission temperature sensor up to the firewall making sure to keep the wire away from any moving parts or direct heat source. It is a good idea to label the wire trans temp so you do not get it confused when connecting it to the gauge.

Section Four: Firewall Pass Through 1. Once you have the sensor and probe wires at the firewall you can pass them through an existing hole or new hole. Make sure there is a grommet in place so that you do not cut any of the wires. 2. After you have passed the sensor wires through the firewall you can route them through the dashboard and to your gauge mounting location. Section Five: Removing Factory A-Pillar and Triple Pod Installation 1. Remove your factory trim by carefully pulling until the spring tabs that hold it in place release. 2. Install your gauges into your GlowShift Triple Gauge Pod.

3. Connect the red, yellow, and black wires from each gauge. If you would like your gauges to dim with your headlights repeat this process with the orange wires as well. Keep the EGT and Transmission Temperature wires to the side, we will come back to them later. 4. Drill a small hole at the bottom of your factory trim. This hole will be used to route the gauge wires through the trim and to your power source. 5. Once the gauge wires are passed through the factory trim you can secure your GlowShift Triple Pod to your factory trim using the supplied screws. Predrilling the holes will make your install easier, but is not necessary. 6. Connect the boost line that was passed through your firewall to the back of your boost gauge.

Section Six: Gauge Installation 7. Re-install your factory trim with the pillar pod attached using the factory spring clips. 1. Reconnect the battery cables so you can test the fuse box using a multi-meter. 2. Remove the dashboard trim for your truck so that you can access your fuse panel. Using a multi-meter identify the switched 12 volt source that powers your headlights. When the headlights are on the multi-meter will read 12 volts, when they are off it will read 0 volts. This switched source will power the dimming feature of the gauge. 3. Again using the multi-meter, test and Identify both a constant and switched 12 volt source in the fuse box. Once they are identified install add-a-circuits into the appropriate spots.

4. Connect the yellow gauge wires to the constant 12v source wire coming from the add-a-circuit that you installed to your fuse box. 5. Connect the red gauge wires to the switched 12v source wire coming from the add-a-circuit that was installed to your fuse box. 6. Connect the black ground gauge wires to your dashboard assembly bracket or any other good ground source. 7. Connect the pink and blue wires from the EGT probe to the EGT gauge wire harness. 8. Connect the white transmission temperature sensor to the green wire on the transmission temperature gauge.

Section Seven: Testing Gauges for Functionality Start your engine to check the operation of the gauges to ensure they are functioning properly. Check under the vehicle to ensure there are no leaks. When the gauges power up the EGT and transmission temperature gauges will do a full sweep, the boost gauge will not since it is mechanically powered. Additional Installation Information & Material Requirements GlowShift Gauges Approved Conductor Wires: Successfully installing GlowShift Gauges may require lengths of wire (sizes and quantity depend on vehicle, gauge type, gauge location and / or sensor location). For correct and proper GlowShift Gauge installation and operation, the use of 18 Gauge (wire diameter) automotive grade conductor wire with sheathing is recommended for one or more gauges per vehicle. When installing and routing wires from the engine compartment, to inside the vehicle cabin, always employ the use of a rubber grommet. This will prevent and deter the stripping of power supply and / or sensor wires that is necessary to deliver vital statistics about your engine to your GlowShift engine monitoring instruments. Never use wire nuts to fasten or bound vehicle / gauge or sensor wiring. Always use securing crimp connectors or solder individual wire junctions together for optimum gauge installation and operation. GlowShift Gauges Approved Installation Accessories: GlowShift Gauges may require the installer or user to provide additional products, accessories or adapters for the correct installation and operation of a gauge or sensor, as per the GlowShift Installation Instructions. When installing and routing hoses to or from the engine compartment, to inside the vehicle cabin, always employ the use of a rubber grommet. This will prevent and deter the stretching or pinching of hoses that is necessary to deliver vital statistics about your engine to your GlowShift engine monitoring instruments.
