Hi Everyone, The flying season is in full swing with many activities going on. President Denny Baker Please be careful and stay away from the construction and workers at the end of the field. If you have to come in from the west, you can stay a safe distance from them and still have plenty of field to land. Several events like an open house, X-treme flight championship, float flys, and fun flys are going on and can be a lot of fun. Check some of these out sometime and you just might meet some very nice people and learn something about the hobby you wasn't aware of. Anyone got any ideas how to deal with the gnats? Those darn things really are bad this year. It is really starting to heat up, so stay hydrated and use sun screen. Have fun and be safe. Denny 2
It looks like the typical flying weather we have been getting the last few years. Cool windy wet spring to super hot summer. The field has been looking very good so far this year. Thanks to Chris the building and grounds leader. Vice President Wayne Hood Pekin airport will be holding its annual Wings and Wheels event on June 18. We have been asked to display models like we have the past 3 years. Also we will direct ground aircraft as they taxi in and out of the airport. I will be asking the same members that have been directing traffic in the past and if I need additional members I will be contacting other members that might want to help. Any time after 8 am you can drive into the gate to the right of the main hanger unload your vehicle then park your car in the grass where we have been parking in the past. We are usually finished by 1 to 2pm. There are food and drinks available all day to purchase. You can bring your own food water and cold drinks if you would rather. Things to bring would be a chair, hat, sun screen and a canopy if you would like to. There are plane and helicopter rides. Look at the flier for further details. Any variety of models to show to the public is what it s about. Publicity is good for the club. Bring as many and what ever models you want. planes helicopters gliders drones Any questions or suggestions call or email me Wayne 3
