Aways beed off the air pressure before attempting to remove the Starter Reay Vave from the Air Tank or before attempting to perform any maintenance on the Starter Reay Vave. When activating manua override, make sure that the vehice is in NEUTRAL. The vehice must be in neutra to prevent any movement during engine start-up. The Coi can be repaced with the Vave sti mounted in the system. No further disassemby of the Vave shoud be attempted whie the Vave is sti mounted. The use of other than genuine Ingerso-Rand repacement parts may resut in safety hazards, decreased starter reay vave performance and increased maintenance, and may invaidate a warranties. Ingerso-Rand is not responsibe for customer modification of vave for appications on which Ingerso-Rand was not consuted. Repairs shoud be made ony by authorized, trained personne. Aways wear eye protection when performing any maintenance on this vave. Aways isoate the eectrica power suppy to the vave. Pre-Instaation 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Check to make sure foreign materia has been removed from the pipework prior to the instaation of this vave. Ensure that enough space is eft for remova and service of this vave. Ensure that the pipework is suitaby aigned and supported to avoid strained joints. Do not over-tighten the pipework connections. A vave are to be instaed with the soenoid vertica above the pipeine uness otherwise stated. This wi optimise the ife and performance of the instaed unit. Features 1. Manua Override - Aows the Vave to be activated without eectrica power. If it is necessary to use the Manua Override, make sure that the vehice is in NEUTRAL. The vehice must be in neutra to prevent any movement. To activate Manua Override remove Pug, shown on page 4. Depress Punger to open Vave. 2. Inet Check Vave Port - Can be used to charge Reservoir Tank, shown on page 4. 3. Test Points - Pressure readings can be taken at the two /4-18 NPT test points, shown on page 4. This Starter Reay Vave is speciay designed and manufactured by Ingerso-Rand for use on Starter instaations. Insta it according to the foowing instructions: Instaation of the Starter Reay Vave 1. Pace the O-Ring suppied with the fange fitting onto Vave Housing. 2. Mount the ST400-C339 Soenoid Vave to the tank using ST400-16 Fange Assemby. The air fow arrow must point toward the starter. MAINTENANCE SECTION 3. ighten the four fange bots to 35-45 ft-bs (47-61 Nm) torque. Tune-up Kits Three! Tune-up Kits are avaiabe for maintaining the Soenoid Vave: ST400-K1051A - Coi Tune-up Kit ST400-K619A - Cover Tune-up Kit ST400-K618A - Badder Tune-up Kit Disassemby of the Tune-up Kit 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Ensure eectrica suppy is isoated from the coi. Disconnect Packard connection from the eectrica suppy. Remove the 4 M8 bots, which retain the vave bonnet to body. Remove the vave bonnet. Remove existing badder and spring, not the orientation of fit. Remove existing non-return end cap assemby and spring noting orientation of parts. Remove non-retum 0 ring ensuring no damage to end cap 0 ring contacting faces. Assemby of the Tune-up Kit 1. Pace the repacement badder in the same orientation as previousy fitted. 2. Pace the repacement spring over the riveted section upon the badder as previousy fitted. 3. Pace the vave bonnet onto the vave body ensuring that the orientation has not atered from when disassembed. 4. Repace the 4 MS bots tightening eveny to a torque of 16 ft-b (24N/m) 5. Pace the repacement non-return spring into its ocation bore as previousy fitted. 6. Pace the non-return assemby as previousy fitted ensuring the orientation has not atered. 7. Pace the non-return 0 ring on the non-return end cap. 8. Assembe the non-return end cap tightening to a torque 16 ft-b (24N/m). 9. Assembe coi and abe and tighten M8 nut to a torque of 15 ft-b (22N/m). 10. Reconnect the ST400-950P Packard connector to suppy. 11. Aways check for eaks after assemby. 3
