With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING. 2. Drain the engine oil. 1. On late build vehicles, tighten to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft). 3. Remove the 15 bolts and the lower oil pan. 1. On early build vehicles, remove and discard the gasket. 2. On late build vehicles, clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.
Page 2 of 8 Fig 1: Locating Lower Oil Pan And Bolts IN-VEHICLE REPAIR > OIL PAN - LOWER > INSTALLATION Late build vehicles 1. Apply a 3.4 mm (0.133 in) diameter bead of sealant 1.0 mm (0.039 in) outward of the chamfer on the lower oil pan sealing face.

Page 4 of 8 Fig 2: Identifying Lower Oil Pan Bolts Tightening Sequence 2. Install the lower oil pan and the 15 bolts. Tighten in the sequence shown. 1. Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). 3. Fill the engine with the correct engine oil for the climate. Refer to the Engine for additional oil and fill information. Remove the oil level indicator. 2. Remove the flexplate. For additional information refer to Flexplate. 3. Remove the oil cooler. For additional information, refer to Oil Cooler.
Page 6 of 8 4. Remove and discard the oil filter. 5. Disconnect the Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) sensor and Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch electrical connectors. 6. Remove the nut from the oil filter header and position aside the engine wire harness. 7. Remove the nut and position aside the transmission cooler tubes. 8. Remove the nut and position aside the side engine wire harness. 9. Remove the 2 nuts from the front of the engine and position the engine wire harness aside. 10. Remove the 25 bolts and the upper oil pan. 1. Remove and discard the gasket. 2. Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces. IN-VEHICLE REPAIR > OIL PAN - UPPER > INSTALLATION 1. Install a new gasket in the upper oil pan. 2. Apply a dime-sized bead of sealant at the 4 cover joints. Fig 1: Locating Upper Oil Pan Gasket NOTE: Final torque must be reached within 30 minutes of sealant application.
Page 7 of 8 Fig 2: Identifying Upper Oil Pan Bolts Tightening Sequence 3. With the help of an assistant, install the upper oil pan and 25 bolts. Tighten in 2 stages in the sequence shown. 1. Stage 1: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in). 2. Stage 2: Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft). 4. Position the front wire harness and install the 2 nuts. 1. Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). 5. Position the side wire harness and install the nut. 1. Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). 6. Position the transmission cooler tubes and install the nut. 1. Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). 7. Position the engine wire harness at the oil filter header and install the nut. 1. Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). 8. Connect the EOP switch and EOT sensor electrical connectors. 9. Install a new oil filter.
