Outdoor LED lighting delivers on performance Philips Wide-Lite Quality area and site series featuring LEDGINE technology www.wide-lite.com wwwwide wide eco e.com 1

Performance driven outdoor lighting solutions utilizing LEDGINE technology Philips Wide Lite introduces a new Quality Lighting LED area and site product family. The classic geometric lines and form compliments both modern and traditional architectural landscapes, and is available in two housing sizes along with a multitude of lumen packages to meet the demands of today s lighting professionals. We have constructed a luminaire that combines precision performance with indelible quality by employing LEDGINE, a Philips global LED-based lighting platform designed to provide advanced, upgradeability, and reliable lighting solutions. Together, the QLA family delivers high quality with simple yet relevant architectural styling like no other product in the market today. 2 www.wide-lite.com

Extreme energy savings up to 60% The optics designed especially for the LEDGINE platform are optimized for performance, compared to traditional HID luminaires where a majority of the luminous flux is wasted by reflector inefficiency and lumens exiting directly below the lamp resulting in hot spots and poor uniformity. We are able to design LED optics that are extremely efficient in utilizing delivered lumens according to task, eliminating wasted light and improving visual uniformity. Ultimately, this translates to significant energy savings compared to traditional HID solutions by simply switching to a LED system. Thanks to the QLA s extremely efficient optical system and the inefficiencies of today s HID systems, we are able to maintain the same recommended IES light levels utilizing less delivered lumens and reducing energy consumption by as much as 60%. Off-peak hours of operation can easily outnumber peak hours by 2 to 1 or more. Our QLA family offers Dynadimmer, a simple standalone smart control system designed to reduce energy consumption during those off-peak hours. By using a variety of preset or custom dimming profiles, Dyandimmer requires no additional wiring or controls. Once installed, the device will continuously calculate the midpoint of the evening based on location and season over a two night period to run the dimming profile. This allows end users to provide a safe and inviting nighttime experience while saving energy and reducing the environmental impact of site and area lighting. An additional control option that saves energy during off-peak hours of operation with QLA is our basic dimming driver ( DD ) option. When combined with traditional secondary Light Output 100 % 75 % 50 % 25 % Night s Midpoint controls like a multi-channel time clock, the DD option gives the end user more finite control of when their system will dim to 10% low. When specified, the 0-10V dimming leads will exit the luminaire s arm assembly for ease of installation. Diming Profile (4, 6, 8 hours or custom) www.wide-lite.com 3

Innovative passthrough convective cooling design maximizes rated life and lumen maintenance The LEDGINE pods were uniquely engineered with radial heatsinks to help create a vortex of air by pulling cooler ambient air from outside the luminaire through vents in the doorframe and upper housing. These radial fins help to increase air velocity and the passthrough convective cooling system helps to cool internal components while effectively radiating heat out and away from the LEDs and the luminaire at the same time. Rated system life Rated system life is the minimum life of the complete LED and driver system before maintenance may be required as determined by the luminaire s thermal management. Typically the limiting thermal factor in an LED product design is controlled by the driver and not the LEDs. The QLA s innovative housing design and passthrough thermal management system achieves a minimum rated system life of up to 80,000 hours or 21.9 years based on a 10 hour per day burn cycle at ambient temperatures up to 40 C (104 F). QLA s innovative IP66 rated thermal Pod frame management system and vented housing design creates a vortex of airflow by pulling cold air from the outside for passthrough convective cooling and heat extraction. Maximizing air flow ensures optimum LED performance, system life and longevity. Predicted LED life and lumen maintenance (LLM) Predicted life is the estimated life in hours of an LED product when it reaches 70% lumen maintenance (L70) at a specific average operating ambient temperature. Since an LED product can reach L70 after 10-20 years of operation or longer, Philips Wide-Lite provides lighting professionals the ability to properly choose a LED lumen maintenance (LLM) factor for their lighting designs. LED lumen maintenance per life and ambient temperatures QLA-160G1 @ 530 ma The tables below show that QLA reaches a LLM of 0.72 at a predicted life of 104,000 hours or 28.5 years based on a 10 hour per day burn cycle at a 25 C (77 F) average ambient. A pulse start HID system reaches a 0.72 LLM at just 8,000 hours or 2.2 years, requiring lamp maintenance to maintain desired light levels. Lumen maintenance data is provided for each QLA lumen package and can be found in the specification sheets at www.wide-lite.com. HID calculations are based upon relative photometry which includes technical data for mean lamp lumens 0.80 of initial and ballast factor 0.90. Note: Actual LED rated life per the LED manufacturer s L70 curve is 60,000 hrs. Predicted LED life expectancy and L70 lumen depreciation is based on QLA s superior thermal management, actual junction temperature (Tj) and projected L70 curves. Based on IESNA LM-80 methodology, predicted life in years will be extended even further if used with DD or Dynadimmer dimming options. Actual experience may vary due to field application conditions. Please refer to the spec sheet for the most current predicted life tables as LED LM-80 data is continually being updated. 4 www.wide-lite.com

Hitting your target without wasting light or energy The QLA s premium area and site optics were designed specifically for the LEDGINE platform to meet or exceed current IES standards as a true one-for-one replacement when compared to traditional HID luminaires up to 400 watt, while providing superior energy savings at the same time. Conventional HID optical design LED optical design The one-for-one is achieved by the LED s ability to more finely tune and control light output. Unlike conventional HID systems, where reflector inefficiency and lumens exiting directly below the lamp result in hot spots and poor uniformity, QLA s optical systems are designed to distribute light output evenly toward specific target regions according to task. As a result, lighting professionals can avoid developing overlit spaces and produce a visually pleasing, uniform illuminated environment. Extreme hot spot directly below the lamp and inefficient system due to interreflected flux. Backlight is commonly behind the luminaire. Uplight (U) - is illumination directed above the horizontal plane of the luminaire (90º) which causes artificial sky glow. Glare (G) - is the amount of light from the luminaire emitted in directions or at angles that cause glare which can create visual disability. Designed for flexibility and upgradeability Construction and Maintenance QLA s IP66 rated construction is designed with two dedicated housing chambers. The LED electrical component chamber is designed separate from the LEDGINE pod assembly to keep all components cooled for optimum operation and mounts directly to an independent driver tray. The LEDGINE pod assembly mounts directly to the doorframe. When accessed, the captive wire-frame hinges safely to hold the door in place. The entire doorframe assembly can be removed without tools and QLA can be easily serviced or upgraded in the lift or on the ground. Future-proof Philips LEDGINE future-proof technology makes it possible to maintain and upgrade your lighting with confidence. You can upgrade your luminaire by simply replacing the LEDGINE pod system, allowing protection of your future investment as LED technology and performance continue to advance. Rotatable optics The QLA s optical distributions can be factory set or field rotated as needed, during or after installation. Simply remove the LEDGINE pod assembly and rotate in 90 increments to achieve the optical distribution of choice. Separate driver tray The QLA s electrical components are mounted to a dedicated driver tray. Separating the driver from the LED pod assemblies improves thermal management and ease of maintenance. www.wide-lite.com 7
