ZS Integral Earth Leakage MCCB Operaton All poles of 3 and pole ZS MCCBs pass through an nternal ZCT. Remote test of ZS MCCB earth leakage functon and remote trp can be obtaned by usng a fuse protected external resstor and pushbutton to cause an earth leakage to trp the breaker. Reset s preformed by operatng the man MCCB ON/ OFF. ZCT - Zero Phase Current Transformer ZCT s are commonly used for varous resdual current and earth fault protecton devces. The sngle cores of a, 3 or wre system pass through the nner dameter of the ZCT. In a system wth no earth leakage, the ZCT see s a balanced sum of currents. When a leakage occurs the sum s not balanced and so the ZCT generates a voltage sgnal, whch trps the ELCB. Tme delay settng dal Resdual current settng dal Applcaton notes ZS ELCBs can be used for both 3 and wre systems. There are partcular applcatons whch sut ether 3 or pole ZS ELCBs. Whenever a system contans a neutral, t must pass through the ZS ELCB n order to be montored to prevent a system nbalance. 1. 1 phase and neutral system A 3 or pole ZS ELCB can be used. The phase and neutral can pass through any pole, except the neutral pole.. phase system (no neutral) Where any system uses phases only (no neutral) a 3 or pole ZS ELCB can be used, but n the case of the pole ELCB, no lnes are to pass through the neutral as the test button wll not functon. 3. 3 phase system (no neutral) 3 phase systems used for motor start applcatons have no neutral. A 3 pole ZS ELCB can be used. A pole ELCB wll also work.. 3 phase and neutral system General dstrbuton systems usually have a neutral, and therefore a pole ZS ELCB must be used. The plug-n base allows for the fttng of up to termnal blocks when auxlares, alarms, shunts or UVTs are used.
