C.The ampere ratngs, approxmate footage, fttng, plug-n unts, etc., are shown on the plans. The electrcal contractor shall be responsble for routng the buswa to coordnate wth the other trades. Fnal feld measurements shall be made b the contractor pror to release of the buswa for fabrcaton. 2.0 Short-Crcut Ratng and Tests A.The short-crcut ratng of the buswa shall be (consultng engneer s calculated requred ratngs), RMS smmetrcal amperes whch s the ultmate antcpated short-crcut current avalable at the source. B.The short-crcut ratng of the buswa shall be determned accordng to UL Standard No Ths ratng must be based upon actual tests at the rated short-crcut current for three (3) ccles. 3.0 Basc Constructon A.Housng 1. The buswa housng shall be formed of two dentcal halves of cold rolled steel, panted wth polester urethane powder pant to provde protecton aganst corroson. 2. The buswa housng shall be totall enclosed non-ventlated for protecton aganst mechancal damage and dust accumulaton. 3. Casng ends and busbars of adjacent sectons shall overlap to form a scarf lap jont. B.Jont 1.Each bus-bar shall be ndvduall bolted to secure electrcal connecton. 2.It shall be possble to dsconnect an jont connecton to allow phscal removal of buswa length wthout dsturbng adjacent buswa lengths. C.Bus-bars 1. The bus-bars shall be tn plated at all contact surfaces. 2. The temperature rse at an pont n the buswa shall not exceed 55 C rse above ambent temperature when operatng at rated load current. 3. Busbars shall be ar nsulated. 4. Block tpe hgh mpact non-trackng nsulators shall be used wth the casng to support the bus bars, retard the travel of power surges and ncrease the strength of the buswa aganst short-crcut forces. D.Plug-n Openngs 1. On plug-n buswa plug-n openngs shall be spaced on 24-nch centers along both sdes of buswa and across the jonts. 2. All openngs shall be usable smultaneousl. 3. Buswa shall be nstalled so that plugs are sde mounted to permt practcal use of all ten plug-n openngs. 4. It shall be possble to nspect the plug-n openng and bus-bars pror to the nstallaton of the plug-n unt. 20 E.Support of Buswa 1. Hanger spacng shall be noted on laout drawngs and shall not exceed manufacturers recommendatons. 2. Two hangers shall be provded wth each buswa secton for convenent nstallaton. F.Underwrter s Laborator ng 1. All straght lengths, fttngs, and plug-n unts shall be lsted and marked n accordance wth UL Standard No Voltage Drop A.The voltage drop (nput voltage mnus output voltage) specfed shall be based on the buswa operatng at full rated current at stablzed operatng temperature n 25 C ambent temperature. B.The three-phase, lne-to-lne voltage drop shall not exceed 3.78 volts per hundred feet at 90% power factor concentrated load, whch condton ma exst durng motor startng. 5.0 Plug-n Unts A.Plug-n unts shall be crcut breaker tpe or fusble swtch tpe wth quck-makequck-break mechansm. B.Plug-n unts whch cannot be operated drectl from the floor shall be equpped wth sutable means for hookstck operaton. C.The nterruptng ratng of crcut breaker plug-n unts shall be [ ] RMS smmetrcal amperes. 6.0 Plug-n Unt Safet Devces A.Each plug-n unt shall be mechancall nterlocked wth the buswa housng to prevent nstallaton or removal of plug-n unts whle the swtch s n the ON poston. B.Plug-n enclosures shall make postve ground connecton wth the ground bus before the contact fngers make contact wth the phase bars. C.The plug-n unts shall be equpped wth nternal barrers to prevent accdental contact of fsh tape and conductors wth lve parts on the lne sde of the protectve devce durng tme of wre pullng.
