The Bf 108 is of all metal construction. It was designed by Willy Messerschmitt who consequently used the experience to later design the Bf 109 WWII fighter (known in the US as the Me 109). The first engine was an inverted V of 247 hp and a three blade propeller. Later engines were often smaller and of different type and a two plade prop. A total of 885 were built being used primerrily as personnel transport by the Luftwaffe. Flying characteristics were quite good and easy to land as the wings had leading edge slats and full length flaps. Fuel consumption rate was extreamy low. The Central Massachusetts Radio Control Modelers call it an airfield but it's just for radio controlled model airplanes and helicopters.
