ZoneEx Modular Wiring System ZoneEx is an innovative modular wiring system which offers safer, easier, and efficient solution for electrical installation. The pre-assembled, plug & play Zone Boxes and power extenders are designed to eliminate sheathing stripping and cutting at job site. Efficient: pre-configured and instant power distribution, significant time-saving. Safety: eliminate job site cutting, minimize human error during and after installation. Changeability: Re-location, upsizing or downsizing in working spaces are matter of hours. Environment-friendly: all components are 100% re-usable, and 100% recyclable. Cost saving: (1) low initial costs (2) high changeability, 100% re-useable (3) low relocation costs. I. Main components: configurations of the four main components implement wiring distribution, establishing circuits, and reaching the users points purely by plug & play. 1 Zone Box: to connect 10-pole extender from electrical panel, automatically convert into 4 circuits, and supply electricity through four 3-pole whips. 2 10-pole Extender: start connecting from electrical panel, to connect Zone Box, and as extender in-between Zone Boxes. 3. 3-pole Extender: connects Zone Box 3-pole whip, to distribute to floor box or desktop.. 4 Floor box with extender: install on the cable trench, supply electricity to workstations. 3 3 10-pole whip 10-pole extender (female connector) 10-pole extender, to extend to next Zone Box 盒 2 1 2 3-pole whip 10-pole whip Floor box connector 10-pole extender connect from electrical panel 3 4 Floor box (SE403EX) 2
II. The System The system starts by establishing Routes from the electrical panel. Each route is capable to provide multiple circuits automatically by means of Zone Boxes. Routes and Circuits: 1. 10-pole extender free-end: 1.1: free-end 10 wires to install at the main electrical panel. 1.2: in case not sufficient room in the electrical panel, install individual electrical panel derived from main panel. 1.3: free wires installed in panel, connector outside the panel. 2. 10-pole extender: To connect the connector of the 10-pole extender free-end at outside of electric panel. Continuous connection of the 10-pole extenders establishes a Route. 3. Establish Route : The 10-pole extender connects to 1st Zone Box, then extends and connects 2nd Zone Box, and more per floor plan. The whole connected line of 10-pole extenders and Zone Boxes establish as one Route. 4. Zone Box and circuit: please see the below distribution chart: 10-pole extender free-end (1) In this case, total four Routes installed at panel (2) Route 2, for example, extends four Zone Boxes. (3) Each Zone Box consists 4 circuits by counter clockwise 1, 2, 4, 3. Once a Route has been established, circuits are set in the same time. The Route s and circuit s series number are marked next to the breakers in sequence in the electrical panel. 10-pole extender 3
III. Deciding quantity of routes and Zone Boxes (1) How many sq. ft. of the premises floor space? (2) Average sq. ft. to be occupied by one workstation? (3) Maximum watts (amp) are designed to be consumed by one workstation? (4) decide quantity of Route, Zone Box, Floor box (for workstation) based on above factors. 1. ZoneEx capacity for countries of 110 volts: the system capacity as below capacity per circuit: 15 amp / maximum capacity per circuit: 1650 watts capacity per route: 4 circuits / maximum capacity per route: 6600 watts Below are capacity per workstation in accordance with number of workstations per route & circuit capacity 412.5 watt (3.75 amp) 550 watt (5.0 amp) 825 watt (7.5 amp) per workstation per workstation per workstation per workstation workstations per circuit 4 3 2 workstations per route 16 12 8 Assume a floor space of 500 sq. meters (5,380SF) in one premises, planning 41 workstations Also assume each workstation load limit 400 watt (4.4781 amp). Based on above, the floor space needs 3 routes, quantity of Zone Box and Floor Box as below: route 1 route 2 route 3 subtotal spare for pieces expansion Zone Boxes 4 4 3 11 1 Floor Boxes 16 16 9 41 7 10-pole accordance with accordance with accordance with accordance with extender floor plan floor plan floor plan floor plan 3-pole accordance with accordance with accordance with accordance with extender floor plan floor plan floor plan floor plan 2. ZoneEx capacity for countries of 220 volts: the system capacity as below Capacity per circuit: 13 amp / maximum capacity per circuit: 2,860 watts Capacity per route: 4 circuits / maximum capacity: 11,440 watts Below are capacity per workstation in accordance with number of workstations per route & circuit. capacity 476 watt (2.16 amp) 572 watts (2.6) amp) 715 watts (3.25 amp) per workstation per workstation per workstation per workstation workstations per circuit 6 5 4 workstations per route 24 20 16 Same case floor space of 500 sq. meters, planning 41 workstations. Assume each workstation load limit 450 watts (2.045 amp), 2 routes are required. route 1 route 2 subtotal (pcs) spare for expansion (pcs) Zone Boxes 6 5 11 1 floor boxes 24 17 41 7 4
IV Installation All system shall be installed by licensed electricians in accordance with local electricity code and the approved floor plan. 1. Start the Route at the electrical panel by install the 10-pole Extender free-end: 1.1 each extender has 10 free wires installed inside the electrical panel. 1.2 in case there is no sufficient room in the main electrical panel, shall install an individual electrical panel especially for ZoneEx. 1.3 inside the ZoneEx electrical panel, to install 1 circuit 1 breaker. The 10 free wires to install inside the panel have differentiated by colors, and tagged with numbers for which the electrician installs at series order in accordance with ZoneEx design. Below pictures show a 4-route installation. As 1 route supports 4 circuits, there are 16 breakers installed in the electrical box. In this case, the electrician installed individual panel for ZoneEx, which derived power from main electrical panel. power derived from free-end wires installed tagged series # of circuit 10-pole extenders elec. panel to ZoneEx panel at the breakers next to the breakers connect and extend to field 2. Establish the Route A Route started from electrical panel to enter access floor. Continuous connection of 10-pole extenders in-between Zone Boxes under the access floor. A string of extenders and Zone Boxes establishes 1 Route. 3. Reach the end-users by 3-pole extenders After set the Zone Boxes in position, connect 3-pole extenders at 3-pole whips of the Zone Boxes, then extend in accordance with the floor plan and connect to floor boxes, wall-mount sockets, or desktops. 5
4. Distribution through low-profile access floor A. Deploy the extenders and Zone Boxes in accordance with the floor plan. All extenders (10-pole and 3-pole) are running through the cable trenches. B. Minimum finish floor height of access floor: 70 mm C. floor boxes: installed at the Cable Trench. Each floor box fixed with 6 feet extender. 10-pole extenders start from electrical panel, extend and connect in-between Zone Boxes floor box Zone Box 10-pole extender extends to next Zone Box 3-pole extender connect 3-pole whip at Zone Box to extend to floor box, wall-mount socket, desktop,.. 5. Accommodate Netfloor ECO series low-profile access floor The system also accommodates with ECO series access floor. 10-pole and 3-pole extenders are distributed inside the cable trenches. Zone Box: cut 1 sub-panel at each of the access panels by utility knife, fixes the Zone Box in. A. FFH: 40, 50, 60 mm B. floor box: installed at cable trench.
