CORPO!?A T/ON / Amherst, Ohio 441 TECHNICAL PUBLlCAWNM 4 2 - - 9 ED6 ONLY OPTIONAL CARTRIDGE HEATERS FOR HOT MELT GUNS Frequent field requests for optional hot melt gun cartridge heaters has resulted in the gun heater option chart shown below. The reason options are requested usually is to provide a higher wattage heater than originally furnished with the gun. There are several important things to consider before using or attempting to use an optional gun heater. 1. Optional heaters are not available for H2OE (24 683), H2L (24 35), H21A (153 1) and H21L (24 31) guns. 2. Some optional cartridge heaters will require wire length changes. a. To shorten - simply cut wire to desired length. b. To lengthen - splice on high temperature wire using ceramic electric connectors. Ensure the wire splices are contained within the gun wire cavity. This may require the wires on the cartridge heater to be shortened first. tiodel GUN II Nominal Dia. Nordson CORPORATION / Amherst. Ohio 441 TECHNKAL PUBlICAT/ON w--11 ARMORED CORDSET RETROFIT KITS FOR AUTOMATIC HOT MELT GUNS AND HOSES Armored cordsets have replaced the plastic cordset (with plug and socket electrical connector) on all H3, H9 and H2 automatic guns and hoses. The armored cordset wi II provide an electrical connection between the gun and hose which is safer and acceptable to approval agencies. Nordson has established four armored cordset retrofit kits to update old style guns and hoses (with plug and socket electrical connector). 1. Retrofit kit 241 97 should b e used for updating the e lectrical connect ion when both the hose and non-circulating guns are the old style, e.g. the gun has a pl astic cordset and the hose has an electrical socket connector. 2. Retrofit kit 242 566 should be used when the old style hose, (with an electrical socket connector) is attached to a new style gun with an armored cordset. NOTE: Retrofit kit 242 566 must be purchased separately, it is not included with the gun. 3. Retrofit kit 242 567 should b e used when the old style H2A and H2L guns (with a plastic cordset) are attached to a new style hose. NOTE: Retrofit kit 242 567 must be purchased separately, it is not included with the hose. 4. Retrofit kit 242 87 should be used when the old style H3, H9 and H2B guns (with a plastic cordset) are attached to a new style hose. This kit used for circulating and non-circulating guns.
