Situation in Burma is changing greatly and rapidly. However, it seems most of the local people in Karen state are not catching up with it. Many mine fields are still remain unmarked because local people still think that war can occur again. They do not want reveal their security measure yet. They think they can manage their mine fields. They think they can start to consider about warning sign after real peace come. It has been my great concern since ten years ago that many people, who go back to their home land right after peace, might step on mine. Now the time is coming. There must be warning sign installed for mine field before returnees walk through. If my forecast and concern is not misstep, there will not be much time between the time that leaders declare peace and the time people start to walk. Local communities should have ready to install warning sign before leaders declare peace. It might be too late otherwise. But this is not something easy to understand for most of the local leaders. Peace is solution for everything for them. They do not have enough imagination to think that many people can come to their mine field in the second day of peace. This was one of the main topics to teach this time. I used whole one day to explain about this matter to the students. And I asked them to talk about it to their leaders. It was a kind of shocking news for them. They agreed and required some warning signs to show their leaders. Total of 1760 of warning signs were handed over to the bellow mentioned students.
