With these cosideratios i mid, you ca determie just how ofte ad for how log you should charge your Victory XL s batteries. We desiged the oboard charger so that it does ot overcharge your Scooter s batteries; however, you may ecouter some problems if you do ot charge your batteries ofte eough ad if you do ot charge them o a regular basis. Followig the five guidelies below provides safe ad reliable battery operatio ad chargig. 1. If you use your Victory XL daily, charge its batteries as soo as you fiish usig it for the day. Your Scooter will be ready each morig to give you a full day of service. We recommed you charge your Victory XL s batteries for 8 to 14 hours after daily use. 2. If you use your Victory XL oce a week or less, charge its batteries at least oce a week for 12 to 14 hours at a time. 3. Keep your Victory XL s batteries fully charged. 4. Avoid deeply dischargig your Victory XL s batteries. 5. Do ot charge your Victory XL s batteries for more tha 24 cosecutive hours. How ca I get maximum rage or distace per charge? Rarely will you have ideal drivig coditios smooth, flat, hard drivig surfaces with o wid or curves. You will ofte face hills, sidewalk cracks, ueve ad loosely packed surfaces, curves, ad wid. All of these drivig coditios affect the distace or ruig time per battery charge. The followig are a few suggestios for obtaiig the maximum rage per battery charge. Always fully charge your Victory XL s batteries prior to your daily use. Maitai 30 psi (pouds per square ich) i all of your Victory XL s tyres. Pla your route ahead to avoid as may hills, cracked, broke, or soft surfaces as possible. Limit your baggage weight to essetial items. Try to maitai a eve speed while your Victory XL is i motio. Avoid stop-ad-go drivig. What type ad size of battery should I use? We recommed deep-cycle batteries that are sealed ad maiteace free. Both Sealed Lead-Acid (SLA) ad Gel Cell are deep-cycle batteries that are similar i performace i your Victory XL. Do ot use wet-cell batteries, which have removable caps. NOTE: Do ot remove the caps from sealed batteries. Water caot be added to sealed batteries. Cap removal voids the battery warraty ad may cause damage to the batteries ad to your Victory XL. Use these specificatios to reorder deep-cycle batteries. Type: Deep-cycle (SLA or Gel Cell) Size: U-1 Voltage: 12 V each Amperage: 31 AH, 40 AH, 45 AH, or 55 AH Victory XL 19

V. BATTERIES AND CHARGING To chage a battery i your Victory XL: 1. Remove the seat ad the rear shroud. See VIII. Disassembly ad Assembly. 2. Remove the battery tie-dow strap. 3. Deep-cycle batteries are specifically desiged to provide power, drai dow their charge, ad the accept a relatively quick recharge. We work closely with our battery maufacturer to provide batteries that best suit your Victory XL s specific electrical demads. Fresh batteries arrive daily at Pride Mobility Products, Ltd., ad are shipped fully charged to our customers. Durig shippig, the batteries may ecouter temperature extremes that may ifluece their iitial performace. Heat dimiishes the charge o the battery; cold slows the available power ad exteds the time eeded to recharge the battery. It may take a few days for the temperature of your Victory XL s batteries to stabilize ad adjust to their ew room or ambiet temperature. More importatly, it takes a few chargig cycles (a partial drai followed by a full recharge) to establish the critical chemical balace that is essetial to a deep-cycle battery s peak performace ad log life. Please follow these steps to properly break i your Victory XL s ew batteries for maximum efficiecy ad service life. 1. Fully charge ay ew battery prior to its iitial use. This iitial chargig cycle brigs the batteries up to about 88% of their peak performace level. 2. Operate your ew Victory XL i familiar ad safe areas. Drive slowly at first, ad do ot travel too far from your home or familiar surroudigs util you have become accustomed to your Victory XL s cotrols ad have properly broke i your Scooter s batteries. 3. V. BATTERIES AND CHARGING How ca I esure maximum battery life? Fully charged deep-cycle batteries provide reliable performace ad exteded battery service life. Keep your Victory XL s batteries fully charged wheever possible. Batteries that are deeply discharged, ifrequetly charged, or stored without a full charge may be permaetly damaged ad cause ureliable performace ad limited service life. How should I store my Victory XL ad its batteries? If you pla o ot usig your Victory XL for a exteded period of time, it is best to: Fully charge its batteries prior to storage. Discoect the battery haresses from the electroic cotroller module. Store your Victory XL i a warm, dry eviromet. Avoid storig your Victory XL where it will be exposed to temperature extremes. If your Victory XL s batteries do become froze, do ot attempt to charge them. Cold or froze batteries should be allowed to warm up for several days prior to rechargig. For prologed storage, you may wish to place several boards uder the frame of your Victory XL to raise the Scooter off the groud ad take the weight off the tyres. This reduces the possibility of flat spots developig o the areas of the tyres cotactig the groud. Victory XL 21
