General information Application The loop flushing valve, applie in a hyrostatic transmission circuit, maintains high quality of the working flui in the transmission power loop. While many transmissions can operate satisfactorily without a loop flushing valve, the aition of loop flushing improves flui quality an generally extens transmission life. Consier the loop flushing valve when any of these exist: Sustaine operation at low pressure an high spee Operation where continuous pressure excees 1000 hours per year Cyliners in the hyrostatic circuit Flow restricting valves in the power loop Frequent operation of high pressure relief valves Long power loop lines Extraorinary life requirements Danfoss recommens monitoring flui quality uner fiel operating conitions for extene perios of time to etermine loop flushing requirements. For a complete iscussion of loop flushing an flui quality, refer to Danfoss bulletins BLN-9886 Transmission Circuit Recommenations an 520L0463 Hyraulic Fluis an Lubricants,. Description The high pressure ports (1 an 2) of the valve are externally connecte to the work or system auxiliary ports of the main hyrostatic transmission circuit. The valve rain port (4) must be externally connecte to the case rain return line of the transmission preferably at the motor so that flui flushes through the motor case an returns to the reservoir. The shuttle valve exposes the low pressure sie of the circuit to the charge relief valve. When properly set (see Ajustment proceure on page 8) the charge relief valve flushes a esire quantity of working flui from the transmission power loop. The charge pump replaces this flui. You may specify a rain orifice to limit maximum flushing flow in circuits where the low sie pressure is high or varies over a large range. Ensure the surfaces uner the mounting bolts form a flat plane. Failure to provie a flat mounting surface coul create valve housing istortion when the mounting bolts are torque. Housing istortion may bin internal components an reuce the rive an/or braking capacity of the system. 6 520L0641 Rev EA Dec 2014
General information W Warning The loss of hyrostatic rive line power in any moe of operation may cause a loss of hyrostatic braking capacity. A braking system, reunant to the hyrostatic transmission, must be provie which is aequate to stop an hol the system shoul such a conition evelop. 520L0641 Rev EA Dec 2014 7
Service Information Ajustment proceure For initial setting of the valve package: 1. Plumb an in-line flow meter into the rain line. If a flow meter is not available, use a clean container with a known volume an a stop watch to measure flow rate. 2. Set the brakes or otherwise restrict machine motion. 3. Stroke the transmission pump to buil at least 34 bar [500 psi] ifferential system pressure. 4. Ajust the relief valve in the flushing valve package to obtain the esire rain flow. Typically 7.5 to 11.4 l/min [2 to 3 US gal/min] is sufficient. Rotating the ajusting screw counter-clockwise increases flow an ecreases the effective pressure setting by approximately 5 bar [73 psi] per turn. 5. Torque the locknut 42 to 55 N m [31 to 41 lbf ft]. 6. Verify that pump charge pressure is above recommene minimum. 7. Remove the flow meter from the circuit.
