Memorandum TO: FROM: Burgess Hanson, City Manager Charles DaBrusco, Director of Environmental Services DATE: November 19, 2014 RE: Request to purchase fourteen (14) Wilo Pumps for use in Wastewater Lift Stations The purpose of this memo is to obtain City Commission approval for the purchase of fourteen (14) Wilo Pumps with supporting parts, for use in existing wastewater lift stations. The new pumps will replace existing aged, worn and deteriorating pumps. The City currently utilizes components of the Wilo brand of pumps in existing lift stations throughout the City. The City Staff responsible for the lift stations have become familiar with the operation and maintenance of this brand of pumps. The Wilo pumps have proven their quality and performed very satisfactorily over the years. The recommended vendor, Florida Bearings, Inc., is the only authorized vendor for Wilo products in this region of the State of Florida, and has provided a supporting sole source letter (attached). The City s Purchasing Division has reviewed and approved the purchase of the Wilo Pumps as a sole source purchase. The total cost of the fourteen (14) Wilo pumps including the supporting parts is $84,292.00. The pricing is in accordance with Quotation No. W2*392916 submitted by Florida Bearings, Inc., dated 11/7/14 (attached). Funds for the purchase of the pumps shall be expended from Account No. 401-5030-536-60-43, Capital Outlay - Other Machinery & Equipment. Staff recommends to the City Commission the approval of the purchase of fourteen (14) Wilo Pumps from Florida Bearings, Inc. RESOLUTION NO. 2014/ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING A SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF FOURTEEN (14) WILO PUMPS FOR USE IN EXISTING LIFT STATIONS TO REPLACE EXISTING OLD PUMPS FOR THE AMOUNT OF $84,292.00 FROM FLORIDA BEARINGS INC. WHEREAS, the City of Deerfield Beach wishes to purchase fourteen (14) Wilo pumps for existing lift stations to replace existing aged, worn and deteriorating Wilo pumps; and WHEREAS, the City currently uses components from the same brand of pumps in other lift stations in the City; and WHEREAS, Florida Bearings Inc. is the sole authorized vendor of Wilo pumps in this region of the State of Florida and has provided a supporting sole source letter; and WHEREAS, City staff recommends the authorization by the Commission for the above referenced purchase; and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the City to purchase the pumps from Florida Bearings Inc.; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The above referenced Whereas clauses are true and correct and made a part hereof. Section 2.
