Fuel Systems & Equipment We have been designing, developing and producing on-board fuel equipment in collaboration with the European aerospace industry since 1923 and our products have been installed on all Italian aircraft programmes and on the principal multinational European programmes after the Second World War. In the last 20 years, we made the step from equipment to system supplier specifically for the segment of trainers, helicopters, business and commuter aircraft and UAVs, while continuing the supply of fuel equipment on other major programmes where the prime contractor maintains system integration. Many fuel systems are in series production while many others are in development for a diversified range of international Customers. Our contribution to each programme goes from the design, development, qualification and supply of equipment to the support of the Customer in system design and integration, including system tests on full scale tilting rigs, up to final system qualification and certification. 04 05
Fuel Systems & Equipment The main Customer requirements of easy installation and minimal mass are met by designing state of the art components in single compact packages, with extensive use of innovative polymers and sustainable finishing of metal alloys, while the need of high safety as well as environmental and electromagnetic compatibility are fulfilled with dedicated mechanical and electronic designs, greatly customized for each peculiar application. New product families are continuously developed and qualified, in full accordance with the most recent and stringent Environmental, EMC and Fuel Ignition Prevention requirements. Significant examples are the self-limiting smart brushless DC pumps of canister type, the active fuel gauging probes with digital output designed without using microprocessors or complex electronic hardware, the integrated pressure refuel/defuel subsystems with redundant safety features, the compact and customizable fuel control units with simultaneous analog and digital interface. Engine Equipment Relevant experience has been gained also on some engine equipment through several decades of partnerships with principal European OEM on major programmes. Our products are currently installed on the EJ200, RB199, AE2100 and Spey, and new developments are in progress for the GEnx, the PW1100 GTF and other engines. 06 07
Hydraulic Manifolds & Actuators Significant know-how and considerable experience in the design, manufacture and qualification of hydraulic equipment has been acquired both through several make-to-print and work-share co-operations on international programs with major OEM Companies and through the design and qualification of own hydraulic products currently installed on European programmes. These include Actuators, Manifolds and Valves. Electromechanical Actuators Over the last 30 years, several actuators, both linear and rotary, have been installed both on aircraft and helicopter programmes in Europe. Actuators rely on in-house designed AC and DC brushless motors including dedicated electronics, notable experience in design and manufacture of epicycloidal gear reductions, utilization of special and innovative alloy steels. Units might include intrinsic irreversibility or reliable no-back devices, dynamic and electromagnetic brakes, visual and electrical stroke indications as well as manual drive inputs. Recent developments are focused on the improvement of actuator smartness, enhancing the electronic control boards and introducing programmable hardware devices and microprocessors. 08 09
Landing Gear Equipment In more recent years, as a result of the extensive experience reached in similar fields and with the support of investments in CNC machines, tools, programmes and continuous improvement methods, landing gear equipment have been added as a new product line for the aerospace primes. Several thousand Door Locks and Up Locks both for military and commercial aircraft have already been successfully produced and delivered to a major OEM Customer, thus obtaining also the certification for Make to Specification. Other significant equipment such as Drag Brace and Side Brace Links have been industrialized and are being supplied for installation on a major new large civil aircraft. New Landing Gear Equipment is currently under study. 10 11
