Introducton Introducton Introducton to AC700 About AC700 The AC700 ensures optmal feed and dstrbuton of the asphalt hot mx, so that the materal s dstrbuted evenly across the screed provdng a key precondton for a smooth road fnsh. Too much materal n front of the screed can lead to temperature drops and materal clumpng, whle too lttle materal n front of the screed can lead to nadequate pre-compacton, both of whch wll result n an uneven road surface. A changng amount of materal n front of the screed affects ts ablty to float, whch also leads to an uneven road surface. Wth AC700 materal control a constant head of materal n front of the screed s secured whch elmnates these problems. Two basc versons of the AC700 There are two basc versons of the AC700: One verson where sensor and controller s bult nto one unt and one verson where the AC700 only works as a sensor, whch s connected to a controller on the asphalt paver. The controller can be ntegrated nto the paver or retroftted. The AC700 materal sensor must be connected to the controller of the asphalt paver and operated from there, whereas the AC700 materal controller, wth sensor and controller bult nto one unt, s operated drectly from the unt. The front panel of the AC700 materal controller features pushbuttons for easy and smple operaton, as well as dsplay for the ndcaton of settngs and error codes. The AC700 materal sensor features a sngle green LED to ndcate whether the unt s operatng correctly. Specalzed AC700 types Asphalt pavers from dfferent manufacturers use dfferent sgnals and plugs for the connecton of materal controllers/ sensors. The AC700 therefore exsts n a number of types wth dfferent specfcatons, modfed to dfferent types of asphalt pavers. Selecton of dfferent AC700 types The AC700 type s easly dentfed on the back of the unt, as each type of AC700 has ts own type number vsble on the product label on the back of the unt. Choosng type of AC700 The correct choce of AC700 type and cable type s determned by the specfc asphalt paver the unt s to be mounted on. Upon orderng or requestng support, the operator must specfy the followng relevant nformaton about the asphalt paver, for TF-Technologes or the local representatve to nform whch AC700 type and cable type should be used on the partcular asphalt paver. Informaton about the asphalt paver: Manufacturer Model number Producton year Type of plug (e.g screw plug or bayonet plug) Machne plug (number of pns) Type of valve (ON/OFF or proportonal) Use (auger or conveyor belt) If an alternatve materal controller/sensor s already mounted on the asphalt paver, t can be easer to access nformaton about ths. In most cases TF-Technologes or a local representatve wll be able to nform whch type of AC700 and whch type of cable that can replace the exstng or prevously used equpment. In such case, the followng nformaton must be specfed. Informaton about prevous materal controller/sensor: Manufacturer Part number Type of plug (e.g screw plug or bayonet plug) Plug (number of pns) Type of valve (ON/OFF or proportonal) AC700 wth sensor and controller AC700 materal controller AC700 wth sensor AC700 materal sensor AC700 wth type number T1 Lkewse, a broad range of dfferent AC700 cables s avalable, customzed for the varous types of AC700 and the dfferent types of asphalt pavers. The operator must always ensure that the correct type of AC700 s connected wth the correct type of cable. 10 11

Introducton Introducton Materal Feed Avalable specfcatons The AC700 types avalable are able to manage most types of control sgnals, ncludng: ON/OFF, as NPN or PNP PWM, as NPN eller PNP Current output Voltage output Smple connecton Once the operator has made sure he has the correct type of AC700 and the correct type of cable, the equpment can be connected and used mmedately. The AC700 automatcally starts up when power s appled, and the operator does not need to adjust anythng but the desred level of materal. Years of experence provde relable and durable desgn Based on experence wth asphalt work snce 1978, the AC700 has been desgned specfcally for the rough envronmental condtons present n asphalt pavng. The unt s composed of a strong alumnum castng resstant to corroson and tough handlng, and the electroncs nsde are encapsulated n slcone ensurng protecton aganst water and mosture. Pavng asphalt wth a smooth surface requres a constant head of materal n front of the screed as dsplayed n fgure 1. The asphalt hot mx s delvered n the hopper (1) n the front of the asphalt paver, after whch t s transported wth the conveyor belts (2) to the augers (3) that dstrbute the materal n front of the screed (4). The screed smoothens out the materal and pre-compacts t wth heat, vbratons and tampers, so that the asphalt obtans the optmal degree of compacton before rollers fnalze the asphalt job. The AC700 types and cable types avalable feature varous types of plugs, ncludng: Bayonet plug and screw plug Dfferent pn-out All avalable AC700 types can be used for asphalt pavers wth 12 volt or 24 volt power supply. 1 2 3 4 Input: 10 30 VDC Fgure 1 - Transport of materal through the asphalt paver 2 A constant head of materal n front of the screed s obtaned by regulaton of the speed of the conveyor belts and augers, so that the materal feed s adjusted to the pavng job at hand. Ths s best done wth an automatc materal feedng system, where a sensor montors the amount of materal and automatcally adjusts the feed to a level set by the operator. 3 Fgure 2 - Dstrbuton of materal n front of the screed The asphalt paver conssts of two dentcal sdes as dsplayed n fgure 2. The two conveyor belts (2) and the two augers (3) are all regulated ndependently of one another, and therefore requre ts own montorng and regulaton of materal feed. 12 13

Introducton Materal Dstrbuton The job for any type of materal control s to secure the correct amount and dstrbuton of materal n front of the screed. Ideal materal dstrbuton The materal reaches out to the sde plates and the augers are not bured n materal. The level of materal s constant across the entre screed, whch s a precondton for a smooth road surface. (At the very end of the screed on each sde at the sde plates, the level of materal s naturally not nearly as hgh as at the augers). Introducton Too large materal feed from the augers and/or too lttle materal feed from the conveyor belts The level of materal n front of the screed s uneven. There s too much materal n the sdes at the sde plates, and too lttle materal n the mddle at the conveyor belts. Fgure 6 - Too large materal feed from the augers and/or too lttle materal feed from the conveyor belts Materal Control wth AC700 Fgure 3 - Ideal materal dstrbuton for both conveyor belts and augers Too lttle materal dstrbuton from the augers The level of materal n front of the screed s uneven. The materal does not reach out all the way to the sde plates, and the level of materal at the augers s too hgh. Wth AC700 materal control the optmal control of materal feed s obtaned, securng a constant and even dstrbuton of materal. The AC700 s based on ultrasound, a contact-free technology that elmnates the typcal problems of drect contact wth mechancal materal control that often get caught n the stcky materal and lose ts functonalty. The AC700 can be used for regulaton of both conveyor belts and augers, so that the screed s constantly suppled wth an adequate amount of materal across ts full length whch s a key precondton for a smooth road surface. Fgure 4 - Too lttle materal dstrbuton from the augers Too large materal feed from the augers The level of materal n front of the screed s uneven. There s too much materal n the mddle, at the conveyor belts. Snce the two conveyor belts and two augers of an asphalt paver are controlled ndependently of one another, up to four AC700 unts may be requred on one asphalt paver. Each AC700 unt s connected to the asphalt paver wth a specalty cable adapted to the specfc machne plug for materal control on the partcular asphalt paver. Whether materal control s requred on both conveyor belts and augers s determned by the type of asphalt paver n queston. Fgure 5 - Too large materal feed from the conveyor belts Fgure 7 - AC700 controls the materal flow on the conveyor belts and augers 14 15

Operaton Operaton Operatng the AC700 Materal Controller Readng the AC700 Materal Controller The AC700 materal controller contans sensor and controller n one unt. It has an operaton panel on the front and a sensor n the bottom measurng the dstance to the materal. The sensor range s 20 to 100 / 8 to 40, whch means the AC700 must be placed wthn ths dstance to the materal n order to control the materal feed. The AC700 must be adjusted to a setpont that provdes the desred amount of materal n front of the screed. The setpont corresponds to the dstance between the sensor and the materal. 1. 3. 2. 1. Adjustng the setpont The level of materal can be easly changed wth the pushbuttons on the front panel of the AC700. Increases the level of materal - more materal. Decreases the level of materal - less materal 2. Readng the setpont The LED lght dodes ndcate the setpont as long as the sensor s operatng wthn ts sensor range. The more LEDs turned on, the hgher the setpont and level of materal. 3. The ultrasonc sensor The sensor head must have an unobstructed vew to the materal, so that the AC700 can freely measure the dstance to the materal. Choosng the setpont There are 30 steps avalable for the operator when adjustng the setpont and the amount of materal desred n front of the screed. Each step corresponds to a dstance of approxmately 21mm / 1 between the sensor and the materal. The setpont can be adjusted wthn a range of 22 to 85 / 9 to 34, and each push on one of the pushbuttons regulates the setpont one step up or down. For example, t requres fve push on the plus-button to ncrease the level of materal wth approxmately / 5. If the AC700 detects a drop n the level of materal n respect to the setpont chosen, t wll ncrease the speed of the auger or conveyor belt, so that more materal s fed to the screed and the desred level of materal s mantaned. When usng an AC700 materal controller wth sensor and controller bult nto one unt, the operaton and adjustment of the level of materal takes place on the front panel of the unt. The setpont chosen corresponds to the dstance between the sensor and the materal, and therefore the level of the materal fed to the screed. The setpont can be adjusted wthn a range of 22 to 85 / 9 to 34, and there are 30 steps avalable for the operator. The steps are dsplayed wth the LED lght dodes of the AC700. The larger the amount of LEDs turned on, the more materal s fed to the screed, and the smaller the dstance between the sensor and the materal. Outer lmts of the setpont If all LED lght dodes are turned off, the level of materal s at the lowest possble level, correspondng to a dstance of 85 / 34., or or or If the operator requres a lower level of materal even though all LED lght dodes are turned off, the AC700 must be moved closer to the materal If all LED lght dodes are turned on, the level of materal s at the hghest possble level, correspondng to a dstance of 22 / 9 If the operator requres a hgher level of materal even though all LED lght dodes are turned on, the AC700 must be moved further away from the materal LED lght dodes turned on 1 3 of the level of materal s dsplayed wth two LEDs 2 3 of the level of materal s dsplayed wth four LEDs The hghest avalable level of materal s dsplayed wth all LED lght dodes turned on and the lowest avalable level of materal s dsplayed wth all LEDs turned off. LED lght dodes flashng The setpont has 30 avalable steps. If the setpont s at a level outsde the four dfferent ndcatons wth LEDs constantly turned on or off, t s ndcated wth two flashng LEDs. For example, f the setpont s larger than 1/3 and smaller than 2/3, two flashng LEDs are added to the two LEDs turned on. 18 19

Operaton Operaton Error Codes of the AC700 Materal Controller Too close If the dstance between the materal and the sensor becomes less than 20 / 8 the materal feed stops n order to protect the AC700 untl the level of materal has decreased. Ths s ndcated wth sx flashng LED lght dodes Readng the AC700 Materal Sensor When usng an AC700 materal sensor wthout a bult-n controller, the operaton and adjustment of the level of materal takes place on the controller the unt s connected to. The controller can be ntegrated nto the paver or retroftted. An AC700 materal sensor wthout controller does not ndcate the setpont. and Out of range If the dstance between the materal and the sensor becomes more than 100 / 40 the AC700 wll contnue to feed at the maxmum level untl the surface of the materal can be detected agan. Ths s ndcated wth the two top LED lght dodes and two bottom LED lght dodes flashng alternately. The sensor range s 20 to 100 / 8 to 40, and the AC700 dsplays whether t s operatng wthn range, s too close to the materal or out of range wth a sngle green LED lght dode. Wthn range When the sensor s operatng between 20 to 100 / 8 to 40 from the materal t s operatng wthn ts workng range and the sensor provdes correct measurements. Slow flashes - the dode s turned on and off an equal amount of tme Ths s ndcated wth slow flashes of the green LED lght dode, where the dode s turned on and off an equal amount of tme. Error Codes of the AC700 Materal Sensor Too close If the dstance between the materal and the sensor becomes less than 20 / 8 the AC700 s too close to the materal. Fast flashes - very short Ths s ndcated wth fast flashes of the green LED lght dode that are very short. If the operator requres a hgher level of materal, the AC700 must be moved further away from the materal. Out of range If the dstance between the materal and the sensor becomes more than 100 / 40 the AC700 s too far away from the materal. Slow flashes - very short Ths s ndcated wth slow flashes of the green LED lght dode that are very short. If the operator requres a lower level of materal, the AC700 must be moved closer to the materal. 20 21

The AC700 The operator must: Read and understand the user manual In case of questons, contact your local representatve should only be operated by a traned operator, so that personal njury and damaged equpment s avoded. Be aware of the stuatons descrbed under Examples of Incorrect Use, p. 29, Warnngs and Dangerous Stuatons, p. 31 and be able to avod them Responsblty of the Operator When plannng the pavng job, the operator must remember the followng: Investgate local health and safety regulatons and perform a rsk assessment of the machne wth the AC700 as a materal controller n order to prevent any dangerous stuatons Make sure the total rsk assessment of the machne s accessble to everyone workng wth and around the asphalt paver Make sure all personnel workng wth and around the asphalt paver understands how the materal feed affects the pavng job Be aware of the specfcatons of the AC700 to ensure t s workng optmally. See Techncal Specfcatons (data sheets) p. 60* When commencng the pavng job, the operator must remember the followng: Avod the stuatons descrbed under Examples of Incorrect Use, p. 29 and Warnngs and Dangerous Stuatons, p. 31 Avod stuatons descrbed n the total rsk assessment * TF-Technologes reserves the rght to make changes n specfcatons wthout further notce. 26 27

Safety Instructon Safety Instructon Ensure that the AC700 s not damaged Ensure that the AC700 s connected correctly to the asphalt paver Ensure that the AC700 s workng wthn ts specfcatons. See Techncal Specfcatons (data sheets) p. 60* Inform TF-Technologes or your local representatve, f the AC700 for any reason s not safe to use Examples of Incorrect Use The AC700 should only be used for what t s constructed to, and most examples of ncorrect use are self-explanatory and therefore not descrbed. However, certan key examples of msuse or napproprate behavour are outlned below, and should be avoded. Eksempler Examples of på ncorrect forkert brug use af of AC700 the AC700 før udlægnng before the pavng job Do not remove any of the labels on the AC700, as they are requred for product dentfcaton, e.g. n relaton to repar and dsposal Do not open the alumnum house of the AC700, as ths wll expose the electroncs and can damage the product The AC700 must not be rebult or refurbshed, as TF-Technologes wll no longer be able to vouch for the qualty, and rebuldng unts may cause serous personal njury or materal damage. The AC700 cables must not be dsconnected from ther connectors or n any way dsassembled * TF-Technologes reserves the rght to make changes n specfcatons wthout further notce. 28 29

Safety Instructon Safety Instructon Warnngs and Dangerous Stuatons Examples of ncorrect use of the AC700 durng the pavng job Do not use unauthorsed cables or unauthorsed spare parts, as ths can damage the AC700 and lead to unpredctable control of the asphalt paver, whch may result n serous personal njury or materal damage It s not recommended to connect the AC700 on a paver, when power s already appled, as the metal jacket on the cable under unfortunate crcumstances may lead to short crcutng the asphalt paver, f the metal jacket hts the two power supply pns at the same tme It s not recommended to mount or adjust the AC700 on an asphalt paver on the move or n operaton It can remove focus from the surroundng traffc, whch may result n serous personal njures It can remove focus from the movng parts of the machne, whch may result n serous personal njures The AC700 and cables can be dropped, squashed or otherwse damaged by the movng parts of the machne The AC700 must not be used The AC700 can be damaged If the AC700 or cable s obvously damaged If the AC700 has been rebult If the cable s for another type of machne, for nstance f the cable uses another pn-out connecton than the asphalt paver or the AC700 If the paver s regulated wth other types of nput than the output the AC700 s able to delver If weldng on the asphalt paver large currents may travel through the constructon and damage the electrcal equpment The followng precautons should be taken before weldng: Remove all electrcal equpment wherever possble Dsconnect the negatve pole on the battery of the asphalt paver, or mount voltage protecton on the battery Place the negatve electrode close to the weldng pont Remove pant before weldng Remove flammable materal to avode gnton of sparks 30 31

Safety Instructon The AC700 can lead to serous personal njury When cleanng the asphalt paver, e.g. f usng a hgh-pressure cleaner, as ths may expose the AC700 to too large forces. The AC700 should therefore be removed before cleanng the asphalt paver If an AC700 connected to the power supply s taken up to an ear or ponted towards others, as the ultrasound can damage the hearng. Ths s also the case, even f the ultrasound may not be audble If warnngs from the total rsk assessment are not compled wth Emergency Procedure In case of accdents, break-downs or otherwse dangerous stuatons, the followng procedure should be followed: 1. 2. 3. 1 2 3 4 Press emergency stop Turn off the asphalt paver and remove the key Dsconnect the cable between the AC700 and the asphalt paver Commence repar Safety Instructon If the AC700 s operated by a person wthout tranng n operaton and safe use, as he wll not be able to observe the responsblty of the operator, cf. p. 27 If the AC700 s used n dangerous areas or n dangerous atmospheres/pressure levels, as the unt s not desgned to such operaton 32 33

Mountng the AC700 Choosng Place of Operaton...36 Placng the AC700...38 Incorrect Placement of the AC700...39 Mountng the AC700...40 35

Mountng the AC700 Mountng the AC700 Choosng Place of Operaton Most versons of the AC700 contan sensor and controller n one unt, and therefore the AC700 must be placed n an optmal locaton for both operaton and measurements of the level of materal. Most asphalt pavers already have mountng brackets for materal Advce on choosng a safe place of operaton: sensors that can be used for mountng the AC700, and these are already placed on the paver, however, there are stll some consderatons the operator should take nto account before mountng the AC700. The place of operaton should to the extent possble be located outsde of any dangerous areas, securng the operator from exposure to Ejecton of objects from the machne or any machne emssons Movng parts of the asphalt paver Excessve radant heat From the place of operaton, the operator should be able to ensure that no one s located n dangerous areas that can be affected by the operaton of the AC700 Each place of operaton should be wthn reach of the emergency stop, and f not physcally possble, a colleague wth access to the emergency stop must oversee the operator whle he s operatng the AC700 General advce on mountng the AC700 If practcally possble, the AC700 should be: Easly accessble for operaton and adjustments Mounted so that the probablty of materal damages s mnmzed, e.g. where t s unexposed to the movng parts of the asphalt paver, excessve radant heat, as well as potental shocks or pulls from the cable Placed so that the unt can be orented wthout the need to move any cables or other equpment Placed n a poston accessble for the operator that does not requre hm to bend or stretch unnecessarly Placed so the dsplay s clearly vsble for the operator durng the pavng job The place of operaton should have suffcent room for the operator to move all parts of hs body, and for hm to use approprate safety equpment The place of operaton should have easy access wthout any obstacles the operator can stumble upon or get hs clothes caught n 36 37

Mountng the AC700 Placng the AC700 Incorrect Placement of the AC700 Mountng the AC700 The AC700 can be used to control the materal dstrbuton from the augers, as well as the materal feed from the conveyor belts, ensurng optmal feed and dstrbuton of the asphalt hot mx, so that the materal s dstrbuted evenly across the screed provdng a key precondton for a smooth road fnsh. Auger control For auger control, the ultrasonc sensor should pont drectly at the materal n front of the auger, at the heap just before the sde plate, to ensure that there s suffcent materal across the full length of the screed. Conveyor belt control For conveyor belt control, the ultrasonc sensor should be drected at the pont where the materal s delvered from the conveyor belt to the auger, to ensure that there s suffcent materal for the auger to dstrbute. Avod placng the AC700 at an oblque angle Avod objects whch block the vew of the sensor Avod oblque angles The AC700 sensor must be placed as perpendcular to the materal as possble n order to acheve the optmal regulaton of the materal feed. In general, the sensor must pont drectly at the materal, so that the measurements of the sensor correspond to the level of materal. If the sensor s ponted towards the materal n a sloped angle, t may not regster the level of materal correctly. Avod reflectve sdes or objects No objects may block the vew of the sensor, as they may reflect the ultrasonc waves and prevent the control of the materal feed. The feld of vew of the sensor can be seen n the data sheet (p. 60) but as a rule of thumb there must be at least 15 / 6 of free vew from the mddle and all around the sensor. Avod sheldng the AC700 Avod sheldng the sensor The sensor s unable to measure through a tube sheldng ts feld of vew. For example, f the mountng bracket s longer than the bottom of the sensor, so that the bracket extends beyond the sensor head, the sensor wll not be able to functon correctly. Fgure 8 - Sensor placement seen from the back of the asphalt paver (just before the screed) Avod the AC700 pontng at the auger Avod pontng at the auger The sensor may not pont drectly at the auger nstead of the materal. If the sensor ponts towards the auger, t wll not be able to measure correctly when the level of materal becomes lower than the dstance to the auger. Ths can lead to a lack of materal feed and a poor compacton, whch can decrease the durablty of the road. Fgure 9 - Sensor placement seen from above. The ultrasonc sensor should pont to the shaded areas n front of the auger for auger control and the conveyor belt for conveyor belt control 100 C 90 C 0 C Avod exposng the AC700 to temperatures above 70 C / 158 F Do not expose the AC700 to temperatures above 70 C / 158 F The sensor may not be placed n a locaton where t may reach temperatures above 70 C / 158 F. If possble, the sensor should not be placed drectly above the materal or too close to the materal. Especally when mountng the sensor for control of the materal feed from the conveyor belts, the operator should be wary of hgh temperatures. 38 39

Mountng the AC700 Mountng the AC700 Mountng the AC700 Most asphalt pavers already contan mountng brackets for materal sensors from the manufacturer that can be used for the mountng of AC700. However, t s mportant to make sure that the exstng mountng bracket does not sheld the feld of vew of the AC700, as ths may affect the precson and results of the sensor. Mountng n exstng mountng bracket When the AC700 s mounted at the conveyor belt, the mountng bracket s often smple and welded drectly on the asphalt paver wth the sensor pontng vertcally down at the materal. and the sensor therefore ends up pontng at the auger nstead of the materal. If the AC700 s mounted wth an approprate dstance to the auger, adjustment of the sensor poston s normally not requred every tme the sde plate s adjusted to follow a jont or curb. When the AC700 s mounted correctly at the conveyor belt, no further adjustment of the poston of the sensor s requred. The level of materal at the conveyor belts typcally only needs adjustment when the AC700 s mounted on the asphalt paver. Mountng of AC700 on both conveyor belts When the AC700 s mounted at the auger, the mountng bracket s typcally more advanced and adjustable n several drectons. Every tme the wdth of the screed s changed, t may be necessary to adjust the poston of the AC700 slghtly. Typcally the need for adjustment arses when the sde plates are close to the auger, Mountng Bracket for AC700 Asphalt pavers wthout a sutable mountng bracket can use the TF-Technologes Mountng Bracket for Materal Sensor, whch ensures a flexble mountng and placement of the AC700 at an optmal angle. Tube on the sde plate of an asphalt paver that can be used for mountng When the sde plate s moved durng the pavng job, the feld of vew of the AC700 s also changed, whch may requre the operator to adjust ts mountng slghtly. The jonts of the Mountng Bracket contans handles enablng the operator to make such small adjustments wthout the use of tools. Mountng Bracket for AC700, S-50521 When usng the AC700 for auger control, the Mountng Bracket can be mounted on any avalable tube or knob, whch s most often placed on the sde plate of the screed for the mountng of materal sensors. The Mountng Bracket for the AC700 s easly adjusted, so that the operator can change the drecton of the sensor head durng the pavng job. Connectng the AC700 Cables and Connectons...44 Safe Connecton and Dsconnecton...45 43

Connectng the AC700 Cables and Connectons Safe Connecton and Dsconnecton Connectng the AC700 Connectng the AC700 s easly done wth a sngle specalty cable, whch s connected to the asphalt paver va the machne plug for materal control of the asphalt paver. As the AC700 exsts n a number of dfferent types wth dfferent specfcatons, a broad range of dfferent AC700 cables s avalable, customzed for the varous types of AC700 and the dfferent types of asphalt pavers. The operator must always ensure that the correct type of AC700 s connected wth the correct type of cable. Before connectng the AC700, the operator must ensure that the chosen type of AC700 s correct and the chosen type of cable s correct and can be used on the partcular asphalt paver the equpment s to be mounted on All avalable cables for the AC700 are coled and have a standard length of 4m / 13 fully extended, however connectors and pn-out vary. The correct choce of cable s determned by the partcular brand and model of asphalt paver the unt s to be mounted on, cf. Choosng type of AC700 p. 11 for nformaton. An example of a cable for AC700 The AC700 s typcally permanently mounted on the asphalt paver, and need not be connected and dsconnected each tme the asphalt paver s used. The fault should be descrbed and specfed as well as possble. Please state all relevant nformaton about the asphalt paver and any prevous materal controller/sensor, cf. About AC700 User Manual p. 4. If the AC700 requres servce or repar, please refer to the local representatve of TF-Technologes. Do not attempt to repar the AC700. Replacement of connectors or any other parts must be undertaken by TF-Technologes or an apponted servce representatve. Contact your local representatve for further nformaton Servce and repar of the AC700 undertaken by anyone else than TF-Technologes or an apponted servce representatve can result n serous personal njures and/or damaged equpment In case of malfuncton durng the test of AC700, t s recommended to complete the test n the other sde of the asphalt paver, wthout movng the AC700 cable. If the unt tested works n the other sde, the malfuncton s ether wthn the cable or the connecton to the valve. To test whether the malfuncton s wthn the cable, t s recommended to try to swtch the AC700 cables. 52 53

Mantenance Transport The AC700 s typcally permanently mounted on the asphalt paver, and wll only be kept separate from the paver, when the paver and the AC700 s undergong mantenance or repar. Advce on transport of the AC700: The AC700 should be transported n a sutable carry case, where all parts rest frmly wthout beng able to clash aganst each other. If the AC700 or cable has been damaged at recepton, the followng s recommended: Reject the package f t s vsbly damaged (regress) Document any potental damage n the form of text and pctures Inform seller of the damages Do not use damaged products Mantenance The AC700 should be separated from the cables so that the cables are protected aganst twstng The dsplay and the sensor head of the AC700 must be protected from any sharp objects The transport case must protect the equpment from shock and pressure, as the AC700 s often transported together wth heavy equpment for the pavng job If the equpment s packed up wet, t should be wped dry before storng Storage Advce on storage of the AC700: For long-term storage, the AC700 should be kept dry and out of drect sunlght Notce that hgh temperatures can be obtaned by storng the AC700 n a non-ventlated car n the summer When recevng the AC700, the followng should be nspected: Are dsplay, connectors and sensor head stll ntact? AC700 and cables should be stored and used wthn ts temperature specfcatons Check the house for label and any loose connectons, e.g. dsplay and connectors Storage temperature: -40 C tl 85 C Operatng temperature: -10 C tl 85 C 54 55

Mantenance Cleanng It s mportant that the AC700 s cleaned often, so that t does not lose functonalty. However, napproprate cleanng agents or an ncorrect cleanng method can damage the equpment and cause degradng functonalty. It s generally recommended to use a dry cloth wth a lttle water or Benzne, as the equpment s secured aganst water, and because Benzne evaporates quckly. A quck evaporaton ensures that the Benzne does not collect n nooks and crannes and has longterm dssolvng effects, as can be the case wth other cleanng agents. Please note that Benzne s an organc dssolvent, whch s flammable and harmful to health and envronment. It must therefore be used responsbly and wth respect for ts harmful effects. The operator should follow these nstructons before use: Follow the nstructons on the bottle of Benzne Always use as lttle as possble Avod breathng vapors and drect contact wth the skn Never use cellulose thnner or acetone, as these dssolve pant and plastc respectvely, whch wll degrade the functonalty of the equpment. Other cleanng agents can also be harmful, but experence shows that these two n partcular should be avoded Never use a hgh-pressure cleaner to remove drt, as t wll expose the equpment to too large forces When mechancally rnsng the equpment, no scrapng must be undertaken on the dsplay, connectors or sensor head as these parts are partcularly senstve The sensor head s porous and therefore able to draw lquds, whch means the materal can slowly dssolve f exposed to a dssolvent. The sensor head must therefore not be exposed to chemcal lquds When cleanng wth fluds, only small amounts should be dapped on the areas to be cleaned, and these areas should be wped wth a dry cloth afterwards. The equpment must never be submerged n chemcal lquds or exposed to cleanng agents n larger quanttes, as the fluds can gather n nooks and crannes and have long-term dssolvng effects. Be partcularly aware of: No parts of the AC700 should be submerged n fluds as t may gather n nooks and crannes Use of Benzne to clean cables can make the wrtng on the cables dsappear, but the cables wll not be damaged Dsposal When dsposng the AC700 the equpment must be treated as electronc waste n complance wth the local regulatons of the country n whch the equpment s dsposed. The responsblty for safe and approprate dsposal s transferred to the buyer n the sale of the AC700 equpment. 56 57
