A sectioal garage door is a large, heavy object that moves with the help of sprigs uder high tesio. Sprigs, bottom brackets, cables ad associated hardware are uder high tesio ad ca cause death, serious ijuries or damage to the door if ot properly hadled. For your safety ad the safety of others, follow these istructios: DO NOT loose or remove bottom bracket with the sprig tesio egaged. DO NOT operate door with a broke sprig. DO NOT maually operate door if hadles are ot istalled or fuctioig properly. DO NOT operate door if it is too difficult to move, opes too quickly, or the rollers come out of the track. DO NOT operate the door if glass or iterior widow retaier appears to be loose, cracked or warped. DO NOT remove screws o iside retaier. Visually ispect the door whe i the dow positio for: Loose or bet higes. Broke wheels, bet shafts or wor out bearigs o rollers. Loose or missig bolts, screws or other fasteers o the door or track. Creases or beds i the track. Crackig or fatigue of the door paels. DOOR OPERATION CHECKLIST We recommed that at least twice per year after you have visually ispected the door ad all of its compoets. Check the balace of the door. 1. With the door i the dow positio, detach the opeer (if applicable) by pullig dow o the red maual release hadle. 2. Next lift the door maually up to the halfway poit ad getly release the door. A balaced door should hag i place ad ot raise or lower. If the door does ot stay i place cotact your Clopay Dealer for adjustmet. Check the door operatio. The door should be easily cotrolled whe liftig ad lowerig. NOTE: Be sure to reattach the opeer oce you cofirm the door is operatig properly. Safety feature for doors with automatic operators. 1. Make sure that the operator has a workig safety feature. Photo eyes should be mouted to the left ad right sides of the bottom of the door opeig. 2. Make sure ay door locks are disabled or removed if the door has a automatic operator. 3. Retest followig opeer maufacturer s istructios. LUBRICATE THE DOOR At least twice per year lubricate all movig parts of the door with Clopay Garage Door Pro Lube or a sythetic lubricat: Lift cables at bottom bracket butto Lock hardware where surfaces tur or slide Full legth of torsio sprig to reduce frictio betwee coils Rollers at the bearig (but ot the tire) Higes CLEANING AND PRESERVING THE DOOR The Cayo Ridge Collectio cotais both Limited Editio Series doors that cosist of composite claddig ad overlays ad Ultra-Grai Series doors which cosist of composite overlays ad Ultra-Grai steel. Both the Ultra-Grai steel portio of the door ad the iside steel surface of the door should be periodically cleaed ad waxed at least twice a year or four times a year for harsh eviromets (such as coastal regios, high road salts, etc.). CLEANING THE DOOR Workig from top to bottom of the door sectios, use a well soaked cloth, spoge, soft bristle brush with either of the followig solutios: Oe cup of Simple Gree or other o-toxic biodegradable cleaer (less tha 0.5% phosphate) ito two gallos of warm water. - OR - Household liquid dishwashig deterget such as Daw. DO NOT use scourig powders or solvets whe cleaig the door. If preparig to pait, see cleaig istructios uder Paitig i this maual. Rise door with clea water to complete cleaig ad allow to dry. NOTE: Be sure to clea behid stop moldig o the sides ad top of the door. WAXING THE DOOR After cleaig, use liquid car wax (ot paste) to preserve the Ultra-Grai fiish ad the iterior steel surface betwee cleaigs. This is especially importat i coastal ad harsh eviromets. WINDOW CARE INSTRUCTIONS WINDOW GRILLE REMOVAL Decorative widow grilles o your door ca be removed for cleaig or paitig purposes. The grille is held i place with plastic clips located at the bottom of the vertical grille sticks ad the eds of the horizotal grille sticks. To remove grille: 1. Squeeze the clips ad slide them towards the ceter of the widow (Fig. 1). 2. Rotate bottom of grille out from the door ad remove from top otches. Reverse the process to re-istall grilles. CLIP Fig. 1 WINDOW CLEANING Clea glass with a mild solutio of a dishwashig deterget ad a soft cloth. For acrylic impact or decorative widows: These widows CAN ONLY be washed usig a clea, soft spoge or cloth with a mild dish soap ad lukewarm water. Dry with soft cloth or chamois to prevet spottig. DO NOT use ay ammoiated, abrasive or solvet-based cleaers of ay kid. DO NOT brush, scrub or scrape these widows. After cleaig, rise thoroughly.! CAUTION! Use care whe hadlig decorative widows to avoid scrapig or scratchig the surface. GLASS REPLACEMENT! WARNING! To avoid ijury, use extreme cautio i hadlig glass widow pae. Whe frame is removed, exposed steel edge of door may be sharp. Avoid cotact with steel edges. Always wear safety glasses ad gloves. If the door is equipped with widows, ad glass should eed replacemet, follow the steps below: 1. With someoe holdig the outside frame, remove screws from the iside frame retaier. 2. Pull iside frame out of door. Carefully remove broke or old glass. 3. Isert ew glass. 4. With someoe holdig outside frame, reisert screws ito iside frame, securig glass.
MAINTAINING YOUR COMPOSITE OVERLAY FAUX WOOD DOOR Proper care ad maiteace are imperative for log-term appearace ad performace of Cayo Ridge Collectio doors. Periodic ispectio ad maiteace of the composite claddig ad overlays as well as regular ispectio, lubricatio ad cleaig are required. The followig iformatio will help keep your door ad its parts i good workig order ad help protect it from the elemets. FINISHING INFORMATION Cayo Ridge Collectio doors come pre-fiished from the factory uless No-Fiish has bee specified. NO-FINISH LIMITED EDITION DOORS If you have ordered your door without factory pre-fiish, it is ecessary to fiish the door prior to istallatio. Recommeded fiish: Miwax gel stai or high quality exterior grade latex pait. Surface preparatio: Before fiishig your door, the overlay ad claddig surfaces must be prepared ad cleaed. Clea with a mild store-bought pait surface preparatio cleaer. Rise with clea water ad spoge, chagig water ofte. A fial wipe ad rise with clea water ad spoge should be doe to remove ay loose material. Allow to dry. Pre-test pait: All paits are ot created equal, the followig test eeds to be performed: Apply pait o small area of door (followig istructios o pait cotaier). Allow pait to dry ad evaluate for ay blisterig or peelig. Perform adherece test by applyig strip of maskig tape over paited area ad peel back tape. Check to see that pait adheres to door ad ot to tape. NOTE: If pait shows sigs of poor adherece there may be a problem with the pait or surface preparatio. DO NOT PROCEED! A ew pait or further preparatio of surface is eeded. NOTE: DO NOT apply pait whe door surface temperature is differet from maufacturer s suggested temperature rage.! CAUTION! Do ot use ay type of oil-based pait or alkyd modified pait. These paits will void the warraty of your door. Fiishig: Follow directios o the pait or stai cotaier ad apply to the door. Be sure to allow adequate dryig time betwee coats ad prior to istallatio. FACTORY PRE-FINISH LIMITED EDITION AND ULTRA-GRAIN DOORS Uless you purchased the door with No-Fiish, your door has bee factory pre-fiished. Limited Editio Series doors cosist of composite claddig ad overlays that must have periodic maiteace performed to the fiish. Ultra-Grai Series doors cosist of two materials, composite overlays ad Ultra-Grai steel. Composite overlays must have periodic top coat maiteace performed to the fiish. Ultra-Grai Steel doors require oly periodic cleaig (see CLEANING AND PRESERVING THE DOOR). Aual ispectio: Ispect the fiish for discoloratio ad coatig delamiatio every 12 moths ad more frequetly if exposed to direct sulight or harsh evirometal coditios. Maiteace coat: The composite portios must be recoated at least every two years for maximum logevity with a exterior grade, UV resistat, clear protective top coat. I locatios of severe weather exposure, more frequet maiteace may be required. Recommeded fiish: Miwax Helmsma Spar Urethae or Miwax Clear Shield. (Use paiter s tape to mask off the Ultra-Grai steel from the overlays.)
REPAIR AND RE-FINISH Should your door s composite wood overlay or claddig become damaged or discolored, they ca be repaired usig the followig istructios. NOTE: DO NOT apply recoat or re-fiish whe door surface temperature is differet from maufacturer s suggested temperature rage. First, fill ay gaps or voids i the composite surface with a paitable wood putty or urethae caulk ad let dry completely. To brig out light ad dark highlights of the composite texture, two coats are eeded (a lighter base coat ad a darker top coat). This ca be accomplished oe of two ways, a combiatio of pait ad gel stai, or two coats of pait. Exterior grade 100% acrylic latex pait bottom coat with darker gel stai top coat. Brush lighter base coat of pait completely ito composite texture for full coverage. Allow to dry overight. Brush darker top coat gel stai oto the door thoroughly; BEFORE THE GEL STAIN DRIES, use a cloth rag to wipe off a little or a lot of the stai (depedig o your preferece) to reveal areas of base coat. Use pait brush to eve out coat. Allow to dry overight. 2. Exterior grade 100% acrylic latex pait base coat ad top coat. Brush lighter base coat pait completely ito the composite texture for full coverage. Allow to dry overight. Brush darker top coat pait oto the door; BEFORE THE TOP COAT DRIES, use a cloth rag to wipe off a little or a lot of top coat (depedig o your preferece) to reveal areas of base coat. Oce fiish coats are dried, apply layer of exterior grade, UV resistat, clear protective top coat (such as Miwax Clear Shield or Miwax Helmsma Spar Urethae). Allow to dry. (Required for gel stai top coat, optioal for pait top coat). Use brush to eve coat out. Allow to dry overight. NOTE: Remove paiter s tape AFTER clear coat. AUTOMATIC GARAGE DOOR OPENERS If you are istallig a automatic garage door opeer, istallatio of a reiforced moutig poit is required. To avoid damage to your door, you must reiforce the top sectio of the door i order to provide a moutig poit for the garage door opeer to be attached.! CAUTION! DO NOT use the bracket that came with your opeer or attach it directly to the door. Failure to reiforce the door as required may result i loss of warraty coverage.
