REFINED PETROLEUM PRODUCTS April, 1958 Output of refined petroleum products in Canada during April, 1958 totalled 16,404,137 barrels compared with 17,463,405 barrels in April, 1957. The total for the month under review included 6,016,408 barrels of motoi gasoline, 72,415 barrels of aviation gasoline, 2,748, 422 barrels of heavy fuel oil (Nos. 4, 5 and 6), 1,754,984 barrels of diesel fuel, 2,243,852 barrels of light fuel, 800,866 barrels of kerosene, stove oil (No. 1 fuel oil) and tractor fuel, 296,199 barrels of aviation turbo fuel, 2,470,991 barrels of naphtha specialties, and other refinery products such as lubricating oils, asphalt, coke, liquefied petroleum gases, etc. Refineries in Canada used 16,298,346 barrels of crude oil during April, 1958, compared with 17,287,898 barrels in April, 1957. Receipts of crude oil during the current month totalled 16,842,356 barrels, including 7,195,333 barrels of imported oil and 9,647,023 barrels from Canadian sources of supply. Inventories of crude at the end of the month amounted to 22,889,672 barrels compared with 22,485, 581 barrels on the corresponding date of last year. These figures include stocks held at the field, in pipeline systems and in refineries. Net sales of liquid petroleum fuels in Canada, as computed from production, imports, exports, changes in inventories, etc., were as follows in April, 1958, comparable figures for corresponding month of 1957 in brackets, all figures being in barrels of 35 Imperial gallons; naphtha specialties, 123,358 (113,096); aviation gasoline, 256, 525 (296,536); motor gasoline, 7,068,170 (6,264,052); aviation turbo fuel, 338,042 (254,287); tractor fuel, kerosene and stove oil (No. 1 fuel oil), 856,802 (1,102,034); diesel fuel, 1,450,092 (1,311,298); light fuel oil (Nos. 2 and 3), 3,581,259 (4,000,920); and heavy fuel oil (Nos. 4, 5 and 6), 3,125,774 (3,734 2 396). Explanatory Notes Note: I. Effective January, 1958 the reports in this series reflect a major change in concept involving the treatment of import data see "Explanatory Notes" in January, 1958 report for details. 2. Import totals shown in Table 3 were developed from actual data supplied by respondents in April with an adjustment involving March data supplied by the External Trade Section.
