NOTE: Textron Aviation-owned Service Centers are the only facilities that can complete this service bulletin. Heavy foot traffic can cause the outer cabin door frames to crack under the support strut fittings. DESCRIPTION This service bulletin provides parts and instructions to replace the support strut fittings and inspect the outer door frames for cracks. If the outer door frame has a crack, this service bulletin provides instructions to replace the door frame with a Cessna Engineering Drawing. COMPLIANCE RECOMMENDED. This service bulletin should be accomplished at a scheduled maintenance period or inspection. A service bulletin published by Cessna Aircraft Company may be recorded as "completed" in an aircraft log only when the following requirements are satisfied: 1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service bulletin, including the intent therein. 2) The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service bulletin kit. You must use the most recent revision and all of the applicable drawing change notices (DCN) for each engineering document. Make sure that the airplane is electrically grounded. B. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position. C. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane. (1) Disconnect the airplane batteries. (2) Disconnect external electrical power. D. Attach maintenance warning tags to the batteries and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them. Page 2 February 9, 2016
2. Remove the forward and aft support strut fittings. (Refer to Cessna Engineering Drawing 6991111-7.) NOTE: Review all of the Modification Notes and Flag Notes on the engineering drawing. A. Remove the cabin door steps. (Refer to the Model 680 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 52, Cabin Door Step - Maintenance Practices.) B. Remove the forward and aft cabin door step closeout panels. C. Support the cabin door with a padded stand. D. Remove the forward and aft cabin door support strut from the fittings on the cabin door. E. Remove the forward and aft cabin door strut support fittings from the cabin door. F. Remove the sealant, if sealant is present, from the frame under the strut fittings. 3. Do an inspection of the outer door frame. A. Do a visual inspection of the forward and aft outer door frames for cracks under the cabin door support strut fittings. B. Complete Step 4 if the forward outer door frame has cracks. C. Complete Step 5 if the aft outer door frame has cracks. D. Go to Step 7 if the forward and aft outer door frames do not have cracks. CAUTION: Do not remove the forward and aft outer door frames at the same time. Removing both outer door frames at the same time can cause the remaining door structure to shift and cause issues with rigging, opening, and closing the door. 4. Replace the forward outer door frame. (Refer to Cessna Engineering Drawing 6991111-8.) NOTE: Review all of the Modification Notes and Flag Notes on the engineering drawing. NOTE: Touch up all bare material with color chemical film treatment and corrosion resistant primer to protect all bare material before the frame is installed. (Refer to the Model 680 Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51, Protective Treatment of Metal - Description and Operation.) 5. Replace the aft outer door frame. (Refer to Cessna Engineering Drawing 6991111-9.) NOTE: Review all of the Modification Notes and Flag Notes on the engineering drawing. NOTE: Touch up all bare material with color chemical film treatment and corrosion resistant primer to protect all bare material before the frame is installed. (Refer to the Model 680 Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51, Protective Treatment of Metal - Description and Operation.) 6. (If the cabin door was removed in Step 4 or 5.) Install the cabin door. (Refer to the Model 680 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 52, Cabin Door - Maintenance Practices.) 7. Install the forward and aft support strut fittings. A. Replace the forward and aft outer door frame support strut fitting. (Refer to Cessna Engineering Drawing 6991111-7.) NOTE: Review all of the Modification Notes and Flag Notes on the engineering drawing. (1) Fay seal the face and each countersink of the 6991111-2 and 6991111-3 Fittings with Type X, Class B sealant. (Refer to Cessna Engineering Drawing 6991111, Flag Note 3.) (a) After the fittings are installed, wipe away excess sealant from the screw heads. B. Install the 6991111-4 Driver Arm Assembly. (Refer to Cessna Engineering Drawing 6991111-7.) C. Install the cabin door steps. (1) Install the forward and aft cabin door support struts to the fittings on the cabin door. February 9, 2016 Page 3
8. Do the steps that follow if the cabin door was removed. A. Adjust the cabin door. (Refer to the Model 680 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 52, Cabin Door - Adjustment/Test.) B. Adjust the cabin door latching/locking system. (Refer to the Model 680 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 52, Cabin Door Latching/Locking System - Adjustment/Test.) C. Adjust the cabin door closing handle, handrail, and support strut. (Refer to the Model 680 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 52, Cabin Door Closing Handle, Handrail, and Support Strut - Adjustment/Test.) 9. Install the cabin door steps and closeout panels. (Refer to the Model 680 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 52, Cabin Door Step - Maintenance Practices.) 10. Remove the maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane batteries. 11. Record that this service bulletin has been completed. A. Complete a Maintenance Transaction Report. B. Put a copy of the completed Maintenance Transaction Report in the airplane logbook. C.
