No matter the material - nickel, stainless steel, copper or something else, we know heat exchangers inside and out better than anyone in the industry. Our talent lies in our ability to quickly recondition many of the parts that comprise scraped surface heat exchangers including barrels/tubes, dashers, mutators, beaters, fruit feeders, pin mixers, drive shafts and pumps to better than new conditions. Litre Service carries the world s largest inventory of re-chromed tubes for exchange or purchase. Tubes can be reconditioned and re-chromed within 10 days at a fraction of the cost of a new barrel. In addition to our vast inventory of tubes, we stock many other parts for lease and loan - mutators, pumps, fruit feeders etc. If we do not have it in stock for immediate delivery, most badly damaged parts can be reconditioned in 14 days or less! 3 Scraped Surface Heat Exchanger Barrels/Tubes Scraped Surface Heat Exchangers consist of a jacketed cylinder with a rotating dasher holding rows of scraper blades. The product is pumped through the cylinder while the heating or cooling medium is circulated between the cylinder and the jacket. The medium can be steam, water, or a refrigerant such as ammonia or freon. Using scraped surface heat exchangers create the ability to heat and cool fluids with particulates of only a few millimeters in diameter. Scraped surface heat exchangers can also heat and cool high viscosity fluids. Litre Service provides reconditioning of scraped surface heat exchangers - all manufacturers, for use in HOT & COLD applications. We are capable of reconditiong single and double barrel non-removable units as well. We can recondition scraped surface heat exchangers made of nickel, stainless steel or any other material. Our chroming and plating processes exceeds industry standards. We are fully tooled to recondition units back to factory performing standards, including new insulation. Scraped Surface Heat Exchanger Repair Process The first step in our process to remanufacture scraped surface heat exchangers is to strip all existing chrome. Next, a thorough evaluation of the condition of the unit in regards to welding, grinding, and machining is performed. We can repair every length and diameter currently in use. Our specialized tooling is designed to weld and repair pits and grooves on longer units with no problem. If necessary, outside diameters will be welded, straightened and machined back to factory tolerances. After all machining is complete, the unit is plated and honed to the proper micro-finish. Final inspections and certifications to ASME standards are performed on every unit that enters our shop before being packaged and shipped in a wooden crate for your convenience. In over forty years of business, we have never encountered a heat exchanger that was not repairable. 3

5 Dashers and Mutators (Solid or Open) Dashers and Mutators are inserted into the freezer barrel. Dashers come in many sizes and shapes, which are determined by their application. Most dashers have pins attached to the outside casing which are used to hold long blades. As the dasher spins, the dasher blades scrape the product from the inside surface of the heat exchanger barrel. The dasher is necessary to mix and churn the product into the desired consistency. Litre Service Dasher Repair Process When a unit is received from a customer, we begin with a thorough inspection. We check pin alignment and thickness. We also check for any stress fractures that may be found at the base of the pins. We perform an inspection of the bearing diameters and spline ends to determine if replacement or welding and machining is necessary. Upon repair, we measure bulk heads, inner pins, and take T.I.R. readings to make sure the unit is performing properly. On solid dashers, we perform a pressurized dunk test under 200 PSI to ensure all leaks or cracks have been repaired. After all repairs have been completed, units are polished, re-inspected and shipped in sturdy wooden crates. You will be advised of any repair costs after the initial inspection. If you decide not to continue with the repair, Litre Service will pay for the return shipping. To extend the work life of dashers, we can hard plate any worn surfaces. Whatever the material - nickel, stainless steel, etc. - Litre Service has the capability to weld and machine them all. 5

7 Inner Beaters Inner beaters work in conjunction with dashers and mutators. Inner beaters are inserted into some dasher models and spin in the opposite direction as the dashers. Inner beaters help with the churning process inside of the heat exchanger barrel. As with dashers and mutators, inner beaters come in many different sizes and shapes. The type of inner beater required depends on the desired product consistency. Litre Service Inner Beater Repair Process The first step in our inner beater remanufacture and repair process is to inspect all bushings, bearings, diameters, and straightness. Units are checked for liquid and drained of fluid. Leaks are repaired and then pressure tested for any additional damage. The unit is then polished, inspected, and shipped in a strong wooden crate. All dimensions are to factory standards. Litre Service also provides the same OEM warranty. We also have the ability to customize any unit for any requested special applications. 9 Tetra Pak Hoyer KF-4000 & 2000 Fruit Feeder Housings Fruit Feeders are used to enhance frozen products by introducing fruits, nuts, candy assortments and other flavorings at the time of production. Our reconditioned fruit feeders are less then half of the cost of a new unit. Litre Service Fruit Feeder Housing Repair Process Each fruit feeder housing begins with a thorough inspection against factory standards. If repair is needed, impellor bearing I.D. s and wear surfaces are re-chromed and ground to manufactures specifications. The interior pump area is smoothed of gouges and all threaded studs are repaired or replaced as needed. The outside of the housing is cleaned and finally the pressure plate is striped, repaired and re-chromed. 9

11 Pumps Heat exchanger pumps are primarily used to pump product into the heat exchanger cylinders. Exchanger pumps have very tight tolerances. Over time, as product is pumped through the unit, gears, gaskets and covers may become worn causing the pump to lose pressure or its ability to move product. Utilizing US and metric tolerances are no problem, since our CNC and manual machines are ready within a flick of a switch. On average, a Litre Service repaired pump will cost half of the price of buying a new replacement. We also offer "like new" O.E.M. pumps 11 Litre Service Pump Repair Process Each pump body, cover, gasket, and rotor begins with a thorough inspection against factory standards. If repair is needed, the inside diameter of the pump, as well as any covers or gaskets, is welded and ground. An inspection and certification to ASME standards are performed on all parts before being fully assembled. After assembly, all pumps are tested on the appropriate fixture, activated, re-inspected, cleaned, polished, packaged and shipped. We can use your current rotors or provide new rotors and gears. Inspection of gears and rotors can also be performed to ensure they meet factory standards.
