1 Page 1 of 5 Title Perform minor servicing tasks on a petrol fuel system Level 2 Credits 2 Purpose This unit standard is for people who wish to enter or are employed in the automotive repair industry. People credited with this unit standard able to: check fuel system for leaks and blockage; remove and replace a fuel filter; remove and replace injectors on an electronic fuel injection (EFI) system; remove and replace a fuel pump; and check engine exhaust emissions. Suitable tools and equipment means industry approved tools and equipment that are recognised within the industry as being the most suited to complete the task in a professional and competent manner with due regard to safe working practices. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Check fuel system for leaks and blockage.

Outcome 3 Remove and replace injectors on an EFI system. 3.1 Safety precautions necessary when working on a vehicle with EFI are carried out in care when working with and handling pressurised fuel lines, prevention of petrol-rich fumes entering the catalytic converter. 3.2 Suitable tools and equipment are selected for removing and replacing injectors in 3.3 Fuel pressure is relieved prior to any removal and replacement of parts in 3.4 The injectors are disconnected and removed without damage to injectors, pipes, or connections in 3.5 Replacement or original injectors are installed and connected in accordance with service information.
