If not used correctly, motor failure may occur at ignition or during flight. For use by Certified High Power Users only! Before You Begin: Please be sure to read and understand all instructions in this manual prior to assembly. Make sure that you have received all the parts required for your reload. Assemble the Hybrid Rocket Motor according to the directions only. Do not modify any part of the reload! 3 Motor Assembly Instructions: Prior to any assembly: ensure that the motor parts and accessories are clean and free from grease, oils and dirt. Step 1: Begin with a clean, oil free Motor Case. Start by installing the (5) Push Lock injectors into the bottom of the Nitrous Oxide Tank Assembly. *Note an 1/8 inch Push Lock Injector Must go in the Center Hole. Step 2: Tighten the (4) Outer Injectors and Center Injector into the N 2 O Tank using a Deep Wall Socket Set. Do not Over-tighten, The Injectors should be ¼ Turn past Tight. Step 3: Slide Safety Igniter over the Clear Vent Line, and Tape into position just below the Injector. Step 4: Insert the Fill Line Loom, and Vent Line, into the Injectors. (The Vent Line is the Non-Black Line) This should be inserted into the Center Injector (1/8 th Inch size). Wrap Electrical Tape around all Nylon Lines to secure lines, as well as retain heat during ignition. A single wrap of electrical tape will meet the requirement. Step 5: Place the O-Rings, Into the O-Ring Grooves of the N 2 O Tank. Slide the Combustion Chamber Section down over the Injector Baffle Section of the N 2 O Tank, and Insert the Retaining Bolts. The Retaining Bolts should be inserted to just below the depth of the Tube. Do Not Over tighten Retaining Bolts. Step 6: Grease The Hybrid Fuel Grain using an Ultra High Temp Synthetic Grease (Mobile 1 Type recommended). Make sure that the grain liner is well greased, and Completely Covered. Step 7: Slide the Greased Hybrid Fuel Grain into the Combustion Chamber. Insert the Fill line, Vent Line and Igniter Leads through the Center of the Fuel Grain while inserting it into the combustion chamber. Step 8: Grease the Nozzle Assembly, and O-Rings. Place the O- Rings into the O-Ring Grooves on the Nozzle. Slide the Nozzle into the Combustion Chamber and Align the Retaining Bolt Holes Carefully. Step 9: Insert the Retaining Bolts Carefully into the nozzle Assembly. Make sure that you tighten the Bolts so that they are flush with the Combustion chamber Tube. Step 10: When setting up The Assembled Hybrid Rocket Motor at the Launch Pad, make sure that the Fill lines are cut square. If they are not cut square you will have problems with the lines coming free from the push-lock injectors. Fill and Vent Lines should be wiped down with rubbing alcohol to ensure proper seating and retention. Ensure no Grease or dirt is on or in the ends of lines prior to filling motor. Step 11: Push the Fill lines into the Fill Hub Assembly until they bottom out (You will feel them pass an O-ring just before they are seated). Firmly pull up on the fill line to ensure they are set. If Necessary, Re-cut and Re-clean Lines to ensure proper seating. Step 12: Insert the Vent Line into the Push Lock Fitting for Venting (a Fitting for Economy Users, or The Designated Vent Port for Premium GSE Users.) Step 13: Once you have ensured the GSE System is set up, your Rocket is ready, N 2 O Supply is connected, and you are ready to fill your motor, connect the Igniter Leads to the 24 Volt Launch System.

4 Caution! Combustion Chamber and Nozzle may be hot after firing. Please use extreme caution when handling or disassembling recently fired motors. Post Firing Cleaning Procedures 1) Once the Combustion Chamber, and Nozzle have cooled to a safe temperature, you can begin the disassembly an cleaning process. 2) We Recommend removing all retention bolts in the Combustion Chamber ONLY! Do not disassemble the Nitrous Oxide Tank for any reason. This may void your warranty. 3) Pull the Combustion chamber away from the Oxidizer tank, and Nozzle. Push any remaining Fuel and Liner from the Combustion Chamber and Clean with Soap and Water. Note: Other Solvents Such as Lighter Fluid, Acetone and Vinegar have been known to aid in the cleaning process. 4) Clean any remaining oils or lubricants from the outside of the nozzle and Injector Baffle. When Cleaning the Nozzle, leave any built up Char, Ash, or Carbon Deposits on the inside of the Nozzle Bell. This is a normal buildup and will keep your nozzle lasting a long time, by providing an ablative layer during your next burn. 5) Remove all 5 PushLock Injectors from the Injector Baffle and Discard. A deep wall socket can be used to ease this process. Once the Injectors are removed you can proceed to clean the inside of the Injector Baffle. We recommend using an old Tooth Brush, water, and a mild detergent. When cleaning the Injector Baffle, be Very Careful to not get any flammable materials inside the Nitrous Oxide Chamber. This could result in a Motor Failure during your next motor use. 6) Dry all Parts of the motor, and store for next use. 7) When done with your motor for the day, wipe all parts down with WD-40. This will keep your parts looking like new, resistant from fading, fingerprinting and corrosion. Be Sure NOT to get and WD-40 in the Oxidizer tank!!

5 Disposal and Cleanup If for any reason you need to return or dispose of your reload, please contact Contrail Rockets LLC. for information on how to return the item. Appropriate shipping and handling, as well as packaging requirements may be necessary. Any used items should be disposed of in the proper trash receptacle. Safety and First Aid Contrail Rockets Hybrid Motor Reloads will not burn without the presence of a High Temp Heat Source, and strong oxidizer.
