9 Go to polymer system and enable: 1. Polymer Water 2. Poly Mix Pump 3. Poly Dosing Pump Start-Up Sequence

10 At this point we have done the following: 1. Started press 2. Started sludge pump 3. Enabled the polymer system Optimization

11 Optimization What is required to optimize overall performance? 1. Quick drainage of the water 2. Floc structure that will withstand shear 3. Rapid release of the water from the sludge while under pressure Process ahead of the system also dictates how well the system will work.

12 Optimization Polymer selection is critical to efficient operation of the Rotary Fan Press. When bench testing polymers, look for the following: 1. Popcorn style floc 2. Good water separation 3. Clear Filtrate 4. Ability to withstand pressure in your hand 5. Be Mindful of dosage

13 Start-Up Sequence Cont. Polymer Optimization on Press: Bench testing has been completed Make adjustments to dosing pump to achieve suitable floc Sample floc

15 Start-Up Sequence Cont. Back to Operate Screen: At this point: 1. Open Left and Right Channels 2. Apply ~10 PSI on Restrictor Gates

16 Start-Up Sequence Cont. Back to Operate Screen: At this point: 1. Open Left and Right Channels 2. Apply ~10 PSI on Restrictor Gates 3. Wait 1-2 minutes before closing Bypass Valve

17 Start-Up Sequence Cont. Back to Operate Screen: At this point: 1. Open Left and Right Channels 2. Apply ~10 PSI on Restrictor Gates 3. Wait 1-2 minutes before closing Bypass Valve 4. Enable Conveyance System

18 Start-Up Sequence Cont. Back to Operate Screen: At this point: 1. Open Left and Right Channels 2. Apply ~10 PSI on Restrictor Gates 3. Wait 1-2 minutes before closing Bypass Valve 4. Enable Conveyance system 5. Allow system to stabilize ~5

19 Shut-down Sequence If the System includes an Auto Clean function: Located in the Wash Control page If no Auto Clean Follow the following steps:

20 If no Auto Shut down: Shut-down Sequence 1. Open Bypass, close Left and Right Channels

21 Shut-down Sequence Some systems include 1 button shut down If no Auto Shut down: 1. Open Bypass, close Left and Right Channels 2. Turn off Sludge pump, this will also disable polymer system

22 Shut-down Sequence Some systems include 1 button shut down If no Auto Shut down: 1. Open Bypass, close Left and Right Channels 2. Turn off Sludge pump, this will also disable polymer system 3. Go to Wash page and turn on each wash for minimum 1 revolution of screen

23 Shut-down Sequence Some systems include 1 button shut down If no Auto Shut down: 1. Open Bypass, close Left and Right Channels 2. Turn off Sludge pump, this will also disable polymer system 3. Go to Wash page and turn on each wash for minimum 1 revolution of screen 4. Run flush water through retention piping

24 Shut-down Sequence Some systems include 1 button shut down If no Auto Shut down: 1. Open Bypass, close Left and Right Channels 2. Turn off Sludge pump, this will also disable polymer system 3. Go to Wash page and turn on each wash for minimum 1 revolution of screen 4. Run flush water through retention piping 5. Once wash is completed, shut down press and turn power off

25 Storage If the system is down more than two days: 1. Polymer system should be flushed with Mineral Spirits 2. Run flush water though retention piping into channels 3. Release air pressure off of the restrictor gate 4. Remove cake from discharge area, back towards the screen
