2 PRESSURE WASHER Troubleshooting Guide TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION LOW OPERATING PRESSURE LOW WATER TEMPERATURE WATER TEMPERATURE TOO HOT Faulty pressure gauge Insuffi cient water supply Old, worn or incorrect spray nozzle Plumbing or hose leak Faulty or mis-adjusted unloader valve (Where applicable) Worn packing in pump Fouled or dirty inlet or discharge valves in pump Worn inlet or discharge valves Soot buildup on coils not allowing heat transfer Lime deposits on inside of coil Defective high limit switch Insuffi cient water supplied Restricted water fl ow Install new gauge. Use larger garden hose; clean fi lter washer at water inlet. Match nozzle number to machine and/or replace with new nozzle. Check plumbing system for leaks. Re-tape leaks with teflon tape. Adjust unloader for proper pressure. Install repair kit when needed. Install new packing kit. Clean inlet and discharge valves. Replace with valve kit. Clean coils. Delime coil. Replace. Check water G.P.M. to machine. Check nozzle for proper size or obstruction. DETERGENT NOT DRAWING PUMP RUNNING NORMALLY BUT PRESSURE LOW ON INSTALLATION Air leak Valve in the injector head may be blocked, dirty or damaged Filter screen on detergent suction hose plugged Dried up detergent plugging metering valve High viscosity of detergent Hole in detergent line(s) Low detergent level Variable pressure control handle set for high pressure Pump sucking air Valves sticking Unloader valve seat faulty Nozzle incorrectly sized Worn piston packing Tighten all clamps. Check detergent lines for holes. Clean or replace valve in injector. Clean or replace. Disassemble and clean thoroughly. Dilute detergent to specifi cations. Repair hole. Add detergent, if needed. Turn variable pressure control handle to allow water to fl ow out of brass soap nozzle. Check water supply and possibility of air seepage. Check and clean or replace if necessary. Check and replace if necessary. Check and replace if necessary (See serial plate for proper size). Check and replace if necessary. 2

WATER TEMPERATURE TOO HOT Lime build up in coils Improper burner nozzle Incoming water to machine warm or hot Fuel pump pressure too high Fuel pump defective Detergent line sucking air Defective high limit switch Incorrect fuel nozzle size Insuffi cient water supplied Restricted water fl ow Clean inside of coils using Landa's coil cleaner. See combustion assembly breakdown Lower incoming water temperature. Lower fuel pressure. Replace fuel pump. Tighten all clamps. Check detergent line for holes. Replace. 4 PRESSURE WASHER Troubleshooting Guide TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION BURNER LIGHT WILL NOT LIGHT PUMP MOTOR STOPS AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF OPERATION OR STARTS SLOW Disconnected or short in electrical wiring Burner motor thermal protector tripped Flex-coupling slipping on fuel pump shaft or burner motor shaft ON-OFF Switch defective Heavy sooting on coil and burner, can cause interruption of air fl ow and shorting of electrodes Improper electrode setting Fuel not reaching combustion chamber Clogged burner nozzle Water not turned on Fuel solenoid malfunction Fuel solenoid malfunction Pressure switch malfunction Insuffi cient voltage Plugged nozzle Wrong spray nozzle Automatic overload switch tripped Motor wet Short in electrical wiring Coil liming up causing excessive pressure Water pump low or out of oil causing the pump to bind up All wire contacts should be clean and tight. No breaks in wire. If tripped, check voltage, connections, and extensions for cause. Check fuel pump shaft rotation for binding causing motor to overheat. Replace if needed. Check continuity through burner switch. Clean as required. Clean and test according to diagram in Operators Manual. Check fuel pump for proper fl ow. Check solenoid flow switch on machines with spray gun control, for proper on-off fuel fl ow control. Replace. Turn on water to activate burner fl ow switch. Remove, test for continuity and replace as needed. Replace if needed. Test for proper operation. Replace if needed. Use heavier drop cord and check voltage at receptacle. Check name plate for amperage draw. Remove and clean nozzle. Turn on water pump, fl ush lines, and replace nozzle. See serial plate for minimum nozzle size. Allow motor to cool - then push Red reset button. Allow to dry. Wire contacts should be clean and tight. No breaks in wires. See section on Preventative Maintenance. Fill to correct level. 4

5 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE This pressure washer was produced with the best avail able ma te ri als and quality craftsmanship. However, you as the own er have certain re spon si bil i ties for the correct care of the equip ment. At ten tion to reg u lar pre ven ta - tive main te nance pro ce dures will as sist in preserving the performance of your equipment. Contact your Landa, Inc. dealer for main te nance. Regular preventative maintenance will add many hours to the life of your pressure wash er. Perform maintenance more often under severe conditions. 35 LANDA LIMITED NEW PRODUCT WARRANTY PRESSURE WASHERS WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS All LANDA pressure washers are warranted by LANDA to the original purchaser to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, for the periods specified below. This Limited Warranty is subject to the exclusions shown below, is calculated from the date of the original purchase, and applies to the original components only. Any parts replaced under this warranty will assume the remainder of the part s warranty period. SEVEN YEAR PARTS AND ONE YEAR LABOR WARRANTY: Components manufactured by LANDA, such as frames, handles, top and bottom wraps, float tanks, fuel tanks, belt guards, and internal components on the oil-end of Landa manufactured pumps. General, AR, Liberty, Comet and swash and wobble plate pumps have a one year warranty. Heating coils have a five year warranty from date of original machine purchase. TWO YEAR PARTS WARRANTY: Legacy electric motors carry a two year parts warranty against manufacturer s defect. Landa is the authorized warranty and service center for Legacy electric motors when used on Landa products. Landa may request motor to be returned. ONE YEAR PARTS AND ONE YEAR LABOR WARRANTY: All other components, excluding normal wear items as described below, will be warranted for one year on parts and labor. Parts and labor warranty on these parts will be for one year regardless of the duration of the original component manufacturer s part warranty. WARRANTY PROVIDED BY OTHER MANUFACTURERS: Motors, generators, and engines, which are warranted by their respective manufacturers, are serviced through these manufacturers local authorized service centers. LANDA is not authorized and has no responsibility to provide warranty service for such components. WHAT THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER This warranty does not cover the following items: 1. Normal wear items, such as nozzles, spray guns, discharge hoses, wands, quick couplers, seals, filters, gaskets, O-rings, packings, pistons, pump valve assemblies, strainers, belts, brushes, rupture disks, fuses, pump protectors. 2. Damage or malfunctions resulting from accidents, abuse, modifications, alterations, incorrect installation, improper servicing, failure to follow manufacturer s maintenance instructions, or use of the equipment beyond its stated usage specifications as contained in the operator s manual. 3. Damage due to freezing, chemical deterioration, scale build up, rust, corrosion, or thermal expansion. 4. Damage to components from fluctuations in electrical or water supply. 5. Normal maintenance service, including adjustments, fuel system cleaning, and clearing of obstructions. 6. Transportation to service center, field labor charges, or freight damage. WHAT YOU MUST DO TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE While not required for warranty service, we request that you register your LANDA pressure washer by returning the completed registration card. In order to obtain warranty service on items warranted by LANDA, you must return the product to your Authorized LANDA Dealer, freight prepaid, with proof of purchase, within the applicable warranty period. If the product is permanently installed, you must notify your Authorized LANDA Dealer of the defect. Your Authorized LANDA Dealer will file a claim with Landa, who must subsequently verify the defect. In most cases, the part must be returned to LANDA freight prepaid with the claim. For warranty service on components warranted by other manufacturer s, your Authorized LANDA Dealer can help you obtain warranty service through these manufacturers local authorized service centers. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY LANDA S liability for special, incidental, or consequential damages is expressly disclaimed. In no event shall LANDA S liability exceed the purchase price of the product in question. LANDA makes every effort to ensure that all illustrations and specifications are correct, however, these do not imply a warranty that the product is merchantable or fit for a particular purpose, or that the product will actually conform to the illustrations and specifications. Our obligation under this warranty is expressly limited at our option to the replacement or repair at a service facility or factory designated by us, of such part or parts as inspection shall disclose to have been defective.
