Sealing Physical Standards Physical Standards Certified Within Prescribed Period (R56) Test Measures must be certified every 1 year Provers with valves must be certified every 4 years (some 2 years) Electronic thermometers must be certified every 2 years Standards Are Fit For Use Standard must be free of leaks, dents and seals must be intact Wet Before Use 20 second drain time for 20 liters measures (STP22) Device Use Approval Review Device must be in every respect identical to the device referenced in the approval and be suitable for its intended use. (NOA, A8) Approval Number Approval number must be stamped on device. (A8, R17) Initially Inspected All devices must be initially inspected before use in trade and bear initial inspection markings (A8, R29, Bulletin V -8 & V-9) Flow Rates within Approved Range Device must not be used below minimum approved flow rate or be capable of operation at flows in excess of maximum approved rate (NOA, R271, R280, R290, STP21)

2 Visual Exam - Marking & Labeling Markings Present & Located Correctly Plate affixed to device with manufacturer name, model, serial number, approval number(s), min/max flow rate, Volume Corrected to 15 C, usage restrictions, etc. (NOA, R18, R21, R70) Markings Permanent Markings on plates should be die stamped. Other markings non-removable end weather resistant (R18) Unit of Measurement and Monetary Markings Liters, Dollar signs, decimals, cents per liter, $ per liter are correct location and size (R18, R135, R136, R137) Number of Outlets Appropriate If more than one outlet, appropriate signs, lights and solenoids (R282) Printer Tickets Appropriate to the printer and printed with adequate number of digits, decimals (R126, R149, Bulletin V -7) Printer Tickets Information printed as required i.e. net volume, liters, $ total and price per liter (R129, R295, SVM1-27, Bulletin V-20) Visual Exam - General Installed as per NOA &Manufactured Instructions Approval must be checked for any installation inspections. (NOA, R68, R69, R70) Register Visible To Customer The primary register must be visible to customer at all times (R143, R144)

3 Minimum Graduation and Sufficient Digits in Total Price Volume display - five digits and 0.01 L or finer Total $ - sufficient digits to compute max liters x max $/liter (R68, R126, SVM1-20 &21, Bulletin V -7) Linearization Factors If applicable, adjacent linearization factors must not vary by more than 0.25%. (SVM1-10) ATC On Seasonal and partial ATC conversions not allowed. (Bulletin V -19, SVM1-27) Visual Exam - Piping Air Elimination Ensure air eliminator present (if applicable), not plugged or restricted. (R274, R276, R279) Filter / Strainer Ensure filter or strainer installed immediately upstream from meter. (R277) ATC Sensor and Test Well Installed Appropriately Test well must be installed immediately adjacent to the probe, must be within one metre of the meter. Thermal well must be of appropriate design and retain fluid. No pumps, valves, etc between probe and meter. (SVM2-23, 24, 25) Performance Return to Zero Test STP1 All means of registration (gross, net, total $) must return to zero. (R249, R252, R256, STP1)

4 Interlock Test STP2 The dispenser must be interlocked so that it cannot deliver product unless the display have been returned to zero. The dispenser must also prevent the delivery of another product once the delivery has started (or more than 100ml has been dispensed), unless reset to zero. (R252, R253, R254, SVM1-12, SVM1-17) Segment Test STP3 Segment must all go on and all go off during test or prevent use if faulty. (SVM1-12) Prover Shell Correction STP23 Although not generally done for 20 litre measures, correction must be made if temperature of product in prover is different than 15 C. (Bulletin V-17) Slow Flow Test STP4 For 20 litres must be within 50 ml (in factory) and 100 ml (in field). (R261, R262, R265) Fast Flow Test STP5 For 20 litres must be within 50ml ( in factory) & 100ml ( in field). If an adjustment is required the results must be within 20ml. (R261, R262, R265, R35) Repeatability Test STP7 Required if the difference between the fast and slow exceeds 100 ml Three fast runs - all runs must be within 20 ml (factory) or 40 ml (field) (R138, R263) Agreement Between Registrations STP9 Electronic registers having the same increment of registration must agree exactly. Electronic registers having different increments of registration must agree within 0.6 times the larger increment. (R139, R2 92, R293, SVM1-20, Bulletin V-7 and V-20)

5 Computed Value Test STP10 Total dollar computed must be in agreement with the volume registered multiplied by price per litre to the nearest cent. (R140, SVM1-13, SVM1-21, SVM1-26) Pulser Backlash Test STP14 Test to ensure that repetitive (5 times) starting and stopping does not affect accuracy, result must be within the applicable limit of error. (R265, SVM1-20, SVM1-35) Prepay Test STP17 The dispenser must not deliver less than the preset amount and can go over by up to 50ml. (SVM1-32, SVM1-33) Anti drain valve Test STP11 The nozzle must have a functioning anti-drain valve that prevents the hose from being drained between transactions. lf any appreciable loss, close nozzle valve, drain measure, turn on dispenser and perform another fast flow test, must be within the applicable limit of error. (R286) Hose Expansion Test STP12 Perform fast run and turn off dispenser. Open nozzle to relieve hose pressure. Drain measure and retest dispenser Device must be a within 100 ml on 20 litres. (R238, R265, R272, Bulletin V-1) Delivery cross-over Test STP15 For single product twin dispenser product must not be capable of delivery from a turned off side when the other side is operating. Where a common pump supplies many dispensers product must not be capable of delivery from an off dispenser, when the pump is turned on through the use of another dispenser. (R68, R254) Blend Test STP16 Performance test required on the two extreme ranges of products. Tests on mid ratios and blends is optional. No separate test required on mid-blends. Must be within the applicable limit of error. (R265, SVM1-16)

6 ATC Test STP18 Minimum run of 20 litres required for ATC test. Limit of error 0.5 C (in factory) and 1C (in field) Ensure proper API tables used for particular product. (R270, SVM2-20) ATC Probe Failure Test STP19 To be applied by service technician during manufacturer (factory) initial inspections Disconnect probe during delivery. Product flow must cease immediately or within a few litres.(svm2-11) EM /RF interference Test STP20 The device must not be affected in any way by EM or RF found to be emitted in the general area of the device.(r66, R68, R124,R142S, SVM1-31) Sealing Meter Calibration Measuring element / calibrator must be sealed. R235 Electronic Calibration Any means of adjusting the calibration of the register must be sealed. SVM1-8,9 ATC Adjustment Any means of adjusting lhe ATC must be accessible and sealed. SVM2-7 ATC Sensor ATC sensor must be sealed to prevent removal, SVM2-l0 Flow Control Valve If applicable, f low control valve must be sealed to limit flow to maximum. R280
