2 2 Removal of the High Pressure Fuel Pump Drive Gear Three-Filter System 2 Removal of the High Pressure Fuel Pump Drive Gear Three-Filter System Remove as follows: 1. Install the high pressure fuel pump into the high pressure pump holding-device tool (W ). 2. Install the locking tooth (2) (W ) on the high pressure pump holding-device tool (1) (W l). 3. Remove the three mounting bolts and the eyebrow plate from the high pressure fuel pump drive gear. 4. Using the high pressure fuel pump drive gear nut socket tool (J-48669), remove the high pressure fuel pump drive gear nut (1). 4 All information subject to change without notice. 3 NOTE: A gear puller may be used to remove the high pressure fuel pump drive gear from the high pressure fuel pump. 5. Remove the high pressure fuel pump drive gear from the high pressure fuel pump. 6. Remove the high pressure fuel pump half-moon key (1) from the high pressure fuel pump shaft. 7. Remove the locking tooth (W ) from the high pressure pump holding-device tool (W ). 8. Remove the high pressure fuel pump from the high pressure pump holding-device tool (W ). 4 3 Installation of the High Pressure Fuel Pump Drive Gear Three-Filter System 3 Installation of the High Pressure Fuel Pump Drive Gear Three-Filter System Install as follows: 1. Install the high pressure fuel pump on to the high pressure pump holding-device tool (W ). 2. Using a suitable degreaser, clean any oil or grease from the high pressure pump shaft and mating surface on the high pressure fuel pump drive gear. 3. Using a dead blow hammer, install the half-moon key (1) onto the high pressure fuel pump shaft. 4. Install the high pressure fuel pump drive gear on to the high pressure fuel pump. 5. Install the high pressure fuel pump drive gear nut (1) on to the high pressure fuel pump. 6 All information subject to change without notice. Copyright 2013 DETROIT DIESEL CORPORATION

5 Install the locking tooth (2) (W ) on to the high pressure pump holding-device tool (1) (W ). 7. Using the high pressure fuel pump drive gear nut socket tool (J-48669), torque the drive gear nut to 250 N m (184 lb ft). 8. Remove the locking tooth (W ) from the high pressure pump holding-device (W ). 9. Install the eyebrow plate on to the drive gear with the hash marks (1) facing outwards and secure the eyebrow plate with the three mounting bolts. For EPA07 engines, torque to 30 N m (22 lb ft). For EPA10 and GHG14 engines, torque to 8 N m (6 lb ft). a. EPA07 Fuel Pump Eyebrow Plate b. Using a non-marring strap wrench, rotate the gear until the hash mark is at the 12 o'clock position (1) and lined up with the dot on the housing. a.
