2 NBC RMA Belt Field Installation with TGW Skive Tool TGW recommends skiving any RMA belt that has a new lace installed using the TGW Assembly Belt Skive Kit (P/N ). NOTE: DO NOT skive too deep into the carcass of the belt. It is important to only remove a portion of the black top PVC layer to maintain proper belt effectiveness. Skive as deep as possible without damaging the belt fabric. The belt must be skived back 1/2" on the top and bottom and no more than 0.030" deep per side. Depth may vary depending on belt wear. Correct Skive Depth WRONG! The Skive Is Too Deep TGW Assembly Belt Skiver Tool TGW P/N CAUTION DO NOT connect the power cord to the router when adjusting the router tool. In order to attain proper belt performance it is important to only remove a portion of the black top PVC layer. The belt must be skived back 1/2" on the top and bottom and no more than 0.030" deep per side. Depth may vary depending on belt wear. DO NOT skive too deep into the carcass of the belt. After skiving the belt, inspect the belt skive to see if the white carcass of the belt is showing. If the white part of the belt carcass is exposed the skive is too deep, cut the belt end off and adjust the TGW skive tool, and try again. 3 TGW Skiving the RMA Belt Instructions Step 1) DO NOT connect the power cord. Set the TGW Skive Tool "Up Right" with the power switch setting on the surface of a table. Slide the plate to one side and tighten the 4 knobs. Step 2) Unlock the router by pulling out the clamp located on the side of the router. This will allow the router shaft to be adjusted up or down. Adjust the router up to open the space between the router bit and the steel plate. P/N: Rev Date: 9/22/2017 Page 3 of 9

4 Step 3) Insert a 0.004" feeler gage into the square window. Make sure the feeler gage is positioned between the router bit and the steel plate. Note: It is recommended to start with a 0.004" feeler gage but, this may vary depending on belt wear. Adjust skive depth using a different feeler gages from 0.002" to 0.006". Step 4) Slowly turn the router adjuster to bring the plate down. Stop when the feeler gage is slightly pinched and unable to move. Step 5) Adjust the plate slightly up until the feeler gage moves freely. Clamp the router in place. Step 6) Re-check the steel plate making sure the feeler gage moves freely. Remove the feeler gage. Step 7) Make sure the power cord is NOT connected. Move the plate to one side and hand turn the router shaft to check if the router shaft is rubbing / touching on the plate. Slide the plate to the opposite side and check again. Note: The router shaft must not rub / touch the plate. If rubbing or touching adjust the router shaft by repeating steps 1-7. 5 Step 8) Place skive tool on its side with the sliding plate facing the side of the conveyor bed channel. Loosen the four knobs. Connect the power cord to the router. Step 9) To access the belt remove 3 or 4 rollers and the finger guards. Step 10) Cut the old lace from both ends of the belt. The cut must be straight and square across the belt end for the proper installation of the new lace. NOTE: Do Not cut off more belt material then needed. Step 11) Loosen the four knobs. Insert the RMA belt end under the top plate until it is against the end stop. Look in the viewing slots to see if the belt is all the way to the end. Tighten the four knobs to lock the belt in place. 6 Step 12) Turn on the router. Slide the plate up and down. Turn off the router. Step 13) Loosen the knobs and remove the belt. Inspect the skive to see if it is too deep.(see "Caution" notes above.) Turn the belt over to skive the other side. Note: DO NOT skive too deep into the carcass of the belt. It is important to only remove a portion of the black top PVC layer to maintain proper belt effectiveness. Skive as deep as possible without damaging the belt fabric. Step 14) Repeat Steps for the other end of the belt. Step 15) Using a straight edge cut off the remaining "nonskived" end of the RMA Belt. Step 16) Trim both ends of the belt corners 45 degrees.
